How to KNIT with a HOOK! 🎉 Knooking for Beginners 🎉 Left-handed Tutorial
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to knit with a hook, a knooking hook! It lets you create pieces that not only look knitted but that basically are knitted. It's a great technique for everyone who either can't knit or had to stop knitting. 🎉
Knooking used to be very famous over a decade ago. By using a crochet hook with a hole in the end you are able to recreate the exact same stitches that you would use for knitting. Attached to the knooking hook there's a helper yarn that keeps all your loops up as a replacement for the 2nd knitting needle.
It's super easy and fun. Suitable for everybody. It can be especially helpful for everyone who had to stop knitting due to hand or wrist pain. With knooking you will still be able to "knit" even though you are just using a crochet hook!
Try it out and see for yourself what you can do with just a hook! Happy knooking 😏❤️

    You too can knit, Just try "continental knitting" , works just like crochet. youtube it.. As for knooking, it's basically Tunisian crochet, just get a long Tunisian hook.

    I've had these types of hooks I have no idea how I got them and I didn't really care to look into them, I thought it's a needle+hook situation so not much interest from me. I got suggested this video and immediately pulled those hooks out and they are amazing! I thinks it's the easiest way to create cables I found so far, having so much fun playing around with them now. Tools went from ignored to 'this is magic'! Thank you for sharing this with the world! Fantastic tutorial!

    Fascinating. It’s like a variation of Tunisian crochet, but more. Very interesting. I’m a knitter and have no interest in learning this but it’s still so fascinating how such different tools and techniques produce the same fabric.

    I wonder, is it possible to work along in normal crochet, then bring in a knook and knit a section, then return to crochet? I'm all about the seamless transitions.

    • @totally_fierce
      @totally_fierce 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, that is absolutely possible. The beginning and the end of knooking basically are crochet and can be seamlessly added. In the past, I combined both techniques in a few projects. Worked perfectly 👌

    2 questions?- Is there a way to make a taller stitch? How do you finish the top edge to match the bottom edge?

    • @totally_fierce
      @totally_fierce 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, what do you mean by taller stitch? In terms of size or taller than a regular knit or purl stitch? You can make the exact same stitches as you would make them for knitting. So when there are taller stitches you can knook them too. Finishing edges: when you started with a chain, then the regular slip stitch finish as shown in the video would fit best. If you start with an i-cord I'd finish with either single crochets or a half double crochet slip stitch. Hope this helps 🤗

    Please, we need a lesson to explain how to make a decrease or increase in this technical way

    • @totally_fierce
      @totally_fierce 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, first of all, don't panic. There will be more videos showing both increases and decreases coming soon. As you might guess, recording, knooking, cutting and posting usually takes a bit of time to prepare. So if you really really can't wait, here are a few options: 1. Search in the comments for other entries about how to decrease and increase. I wrote it down how it works. Btw it works exactly the same like for knitting or even crochet 2. Use the search function at the top and type in "knook" and you'll get a few videos about how to do that 3. Patience. I'd recommend you to learn and get used to the technique in the flat as a simple rectangle first before incorporating increases and decreases. If you are already familiar with knooking then go back to options 1 and 2. Hope this helps?

    My mother got a new rose bush every year and eventually lined the fence rows of her house with flowers anyone could pick. Her birthday was coming, I was broke, and there were fist sized balls of yarn I did NOT want to granny. Then I found a pattern like this. I put the many colored roses on the darkest green I had access to and stitched a slightly smaller solid granny. She wrapped herself in roses every winter after that.

    You can also use Interchangeable Tunisian Hooks with cable wires of different lengths. You just screw onto that Tunisian hook the length of cable wire you need for that project. You can also screw on a disc or square at the other end to prevent your work from unravelling when you need to take a break. It works and no snagging of any yarn used as tail. Good luck!

    • @totally_fierce
      @totally_fierce 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    I tried to learn to knit so many times without success. When Leisure Arts brought out the knook several years ago, I tried it. It still took a little bit, but after a few months, I gave needle knitting another try, and I was good to go!

      @@totally_fierce My knocks had disappeared into storage after a move, and they came back to me last week. I started thinking it would be a really good idea for me to make some scarves or other things where gauge isn’t critical with them now and again, because I hold onto a belief, correct or not, that changing up my knitting style will help keep my hands and wrists healthier. Sometimes continental, sometimes Portuguese, maybe sometimes knooking!

    This is fascinating. It is like an eccentric form of knitting. I think we'd describe the knit stitches as being worked "through the back loop". I've often wondered if knitting would be easier with one of the needles replaced by a crochet hook, especially in Continental knitting which certainly challenges my dexterity.

      I love your saying "an eccentric form of knitting" 🎉 if I ever write a book about knooking, that would be the subtitle 😍 And I agree, for me knitting would be much more easier with a hook at the end. Maybe I should try knitting with 2vlong tunisian hooks? 🤣

    I tried knooking for a bit and it was ok, but after learning to knit I simply couldn't think of any reason why I would choose knooking over knitting. The availability of sizes in knooking equipment is very limited compared to any other craft and in the end it is just knitting with extra steps. There was a short hype of knooking some years ago but I think that was because of one specific book that only addressed making hats and also not very delicate ones.

      I know, when you know how to knit and have no issues knitting then this technique is not needed at all. But for everyone else who would love to make knitted fabrics but can't knit, this is a great way to do it 🤗
