Hi. i'm looking for mic preamp but i do have tube mic it's avantone cv12 is it okay if i connect the ART Pro MPA II 2-channel Tube into tube mic does it cause any problems cause they are tube the mic is tube and the preamp is tube i never had preamp before
Yes you can :-)
Own a pair of the DT770's.They are sort of mid rangey sounding, which is good for people tracking vocals. All the parts can be separately purchased from Beyer, which is good for replacing any broken worn out bits. But sound wise, more so for tracking, I absolutely love the sound of Vic Firth MKII Stereo Isolation Headphones. So much so, I bought 5 pairs of them for the whole band to track simultaneously with no bleed, +20db of isolation due to the 'ear muff type' design. They were designed originally more so for drummers, but they have a great clarity/ bass response around 100Hz area to hear the kick/ bass relationship, and quite smooth/ flat sounding. Apart from needing just a bit more air/ brightness/ 10khz lift, if you really need to hear the cymbals/ vocals clearer, I'm really happy with them, especially at that price point.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing and stopping by!
I DO have them . The 250ohm version. I have had mine 2.5 years and I love them! When I let my friend try them she loved them too! The only thing I could love more would be a 2.4 Ghz wireless version for everyday listening!
Oh man, that would be ace!!
my ears are trained to the AKG 240 open backs and the DT 770's and use both!...less ear fatigue with the 240's and can still communicate with the environment around me, good for jamming... the 770's though are super luxurious in comfort and sound quality.
Awesome! I'll have to look up the 240's! And yes, the 770's are sooooo comfy!
I love my AKG K-240s! I have two pair, one from the 80s that still work perfectly (albeit just a touch 'warmer') and another new pair I bought a couple years back for hardly any more money. Super comfortable and great for tracking vocals due to the semi-open back design, and my new ones have better impedance match to my amp so much better volume. I don't mix in them but I use them for mix review on every project- they equate to real world averages pretty well. I also bought K-701s for their high end detail, which they deliver very effectively (when I need to review that) but they aren't very much fun to listen to. Funny that!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing, Giselle! 🙌🏻
I have a Kemper Stage and HR Prime & Core, and had an FM3. Honestly, the Kemper and FM3 have to have a real good day to beat my 2nd gen HR products. I freely admit Fractal effects are the best, and I do think Kemper overdrives are the best only if on a top capture. My Kemper Stage is a nice unit, but my HR Prime & Core are so darn good at getting really good tones fast, and so easy to use. All of these units have very different personalities.

Are you saying that this bus is not too much to figure out.? To figure out.
Super easy to use!
thanks for the rig rundown, low-rent liverpool Seth Green , keep 'em coming!
Bedford actually ;-)
To my ears, none of the IK Multimedia emulation compressors actually sound or behave like they should compared to the originals (and I have quite a few, for example their Black76 behaves and colours things more like an LA3A, and the tape echo is unlike any vintage tape echo machine I've ever owned through the decades), and their ecosystem/download & update system is a real PITA. That said, many of these pluhins are very flexible, with M/S processing and extra features etc, and some of the ones not emulating anything but just being their own thing are really good. Horses for courses. 🤷🏼♂️ Oh, and their Sunset Sound Studio rooms, chambers, plates and spring is IMHO one of the absolute greatest ITB reverbs ever made. (BTW, for 1176 and LA2A and SSL bus comp and analog tape machine emulations, the humble Hornet Plugins, also from Italy as IK is, does far better for far less money and with far less fuss, albeit with very graphically bare bones GUIs... try them, is my advice)
Thanks for taking the time to share your insight!! I'll be sure to look into Hornet Plugins! Hear great things about the Sunset Sound Studio Reverb, I gotta get my hands on that soon!
This is a hidden secret. Its very good
Hopefully we can keep it that way, ha! 🤫
This comp is excellent! That grit button sounds great
I'm a fan!
Oh, we use what we prefer. Yes.
I'll tell you why. Because T-Racks is a pain in the @ss to install lol.
I do not disagree, ha! 😅
@@CantAffordToRecord haha. Tbf it has gotten better, but you should be able to choose what plugins you install etc. haha. I'm glad we're on the same page though.
@@kidsonicofficial Very much on the same page! Thanks for stopping by :)
@@kidsonicofficialon T Racks 6 you can do that

Hey Robby, really interesting in light of our conversation the other day. In that situation l found the Townsend got me where I wanted to go faster. But with the material you have here, I think the iK is performing quite well. And it doesn't have the crush sound of the Pulsar (isn't that effectively 20:1 or more?) but I thought it opened up your drums very nicely in a less dramatic way. Ultimately, its less about picking "the best" plugin and more about finding what works best for the recipe you are working on right now.
IK make good stuff, love their Fame studio reverb
Still on my list of ones to try!!
@@CantAffordToRecord very good if you’ve only got close mics and you want a roomier sound
Fame is so great. Hoping they come out with more studio verbs like it with similar features
I don't use that comp from them but I do use their Black 1176 comp all the time on every single mix and on many sources. Thanks for showing this one.
I use the Black 76 all the time too, such a great plugin!
That's one killer 1176! 👍🏼
Haha first in!
Reaper is like that quiet girl that you get talking to and discover she is the most amazing beautiful girl in the world. Literally so much endless depth to it. When you get the action lists and extensions and JS scripts going however you want along with all the general customisation its great, I mostly use Ableton live but for sound design and music for film and video games, its perfect and lately I have just been using it for demos and experimenting musically due to its fluid routing and speed.
Excellent video
Thank you so much!!
Good stuff! You can also use Melodyne for drum triggering- you can drag a drum track in and analyze it with percussion mode, then drag the resulting file onto a track with a sampler. I use the stock Studio One sampler Impact so I easily add one or more samples to the track and blend them.
I never knew that! Thanks for the insight :-)
Great job, Robby! I love the ones that just do what they should. Another great one for almost anything you want to stay level is thr LA-3A. Black Rooster has a great one, and I think the bx_opto might be too.
Blackrooster stuff is wonderful!
seasick steve would want one I think
Seasick Steve is awesome!
You said, “Here’s how I used to do it, I would grab this… so dumb!” Well, that’s how I’ve been doing it, so THANK YOU!!!
It's a game changer huh? 😎
Just got my player in today. I was curious of the kemper sound as i have a fractal fm9. Im blown away at the sound and how easy it is to dial in a good sound. Frectal is awesome but this is much better for me. I already bought the upgrade lol. Worth it to me
That's awesome! So glad you like your player. I absolutely adore mine...even without the upgrades, ha!
How easy is it to dial in a Metal tone on a Kemper as compared to the Neural Dsp,Axe Fx 3 or the Line 6 Helix?
I've never used those others you've mentioned so I can't compare. Don't forget the Kemper uses profiles from amps rather than modeling amps, so you would ideally want to look for your ultimate metal amp sound and go from there. There's over 20,000 profiles on the Rig Exchange for free so I don't think you'll struggle to find something!
It's a pity guitarists commenting all over social media and YT didn't take 10 seconds of their time to read the Kemper website. "The Kemper Profiler Player now also lives in the Paradigm, the Philosophy of the original Kemper Profilers". "NOTE: Of course the Level UPGRADES do not replace the traditional free software and feature UPDATES tradition. The LVL UPGRADES are just an offer to optionally enhance the feature menu towards the bigger units".
Agreed. I think I was lucky to have bought a Player knowing it was a 'limited' version of the Kemper. I think potential buyers now feel they are getting unnecessarily uncharged.
@@CantAffordToRecord Potential buyers are even luckier than us who bought the Player when it was first released. Because, they now know they can upgrade the Player to Stage specs if they want to or not upgrade and continue to get free updates for the next ten years..
Nice video mate. Nice compressor. I just bought one tonight. Haven’t got it yet. Sounds great on the drums and guitar. However IMO , just listening on my phone I felt it absolutely destroyed the lead vocal. Even on the mix I felt the vocal just lose. So I wouldn’t use it for mix or lead vocal and def wouldn’t track vocals through it ever. As far as the background vocal stems, it could work if you want that sound. But for the instruments you got here it sounds wonderful for the price. And nice playing too I like the guitar parts. Good song. Cheers.
Thanks so much for watching the video! This is just one example, where I wanted to push the boundaries of the compressor to get the different sounds I wanted, so you could definitely not be as heavy handed as me on this video and get some really nice transparent compression happening. ART make some amazing things! Thanks again for stopping by :-)
Devil-loc is the way. Its most obvious use is a drum buss compressor. Recently, I started using it on my stereo buss, putting an attenuator before it with preset amounts (0, -6, ,-12, and -24db). It gives a certain flavor that I love to mix into.
Awesome, thanks for sharing! I also love it on drum room mics too, really blows everything up nicely!
I watched up until your 1st plugin was a Waves plugin. as a musician, I would literally be throwing my soul down the toilet by buying anything and using anything by Waves. A company so demonstrably devoid of decency and honesty on a number of occasions. The Waves plugins are old and on the last occasion the nearly went bust due to their business practices, many lists of alternatives, free and paid was made. Most daws just come with the equivalent of these plugins and there are lots of free ones. there's no need to buy anything from company's that have proven to hate you.
I definitely sympathize and I've also been frustrated by their business practices BUT I stand by the Renancence plugin suite. Things like R-Vox and R-Bass haven't (in my humble opinion) been faithfully re-created...yet. Most people would agree with you, but a majority of folks in the industry still gives these particular plugins a lot of credit.
It's the price of the upgrade. Fine they did it but at that price? No thanks. I'll vote with my wallet and purchase something else.
Completely fair!
Can't Afford Not To Record? instead? House Keeping?
My only problem with Kemper doing this is that people are having to install beta software before they can receive the upgrades which to me is just not good enough. I'm going to wait until after Christmas before I decide whether or not to upgrade my used Player.
Softube saturation knob, is also an easy to use plugins to add vibe to vocals and drums
It SO nearly made this list but wanted to stick to traditional compressors. Saturation Knob is absolutely a favorite of mine!!
Will be a good idea to run the Kemper on studio monitors? I want one for my studio and I have a pair of Adams
That's how I run mine these days :-)
@@CantAffordToRecordthanks a lot! And thanks for the video also, helped me a lot 😎
@@adriandavidm.guillen3825 My pleasure!
Hi, great video. Does anyone know how to turn the power amp off on a powered Kemper please? Thanks.
I can't remember if there's an option in the settings to do this but an easy way is to just use the regular line-out instead of the powered (red) line-out. Hope this makes sense!
@@CantAffordToRecord thank you very much. That’s really helpful. I’m new to all the Kemper stuff. I need to find a Kemper for dummies video 😂
@@billasaurus9351 Kempers are great, it's a learning curve though! Enjoy :-)
I am not against paid upgrades but then the hardware must be cheaper. As it is, kpp price / features ratio is very bad compared to orher contenders in this category, then paying extra $300 makes it even worst.
The $300 is optional! I haven't paid the extra for my Player. But if the hardware doesn't meet your criteria then I agree, you should look at other products 👍🏻
The issue is simple, you should pay for new amps/cabs/sounds but not unit features. It's like buying a car and then finding out you can't go above 60 unless you pay more and then a wifi update unlocks to 70... then a year later you are allowed to pay more to unlock to 80... The tires, seat covers, fuel, speakers ect are all on you if you want to upgrade, but finding out you have the best speakers but the sound quality is locked behind a paywall is absolute garbage. In fact your logic is bad here because as it goes, the claim is that "You can't expect the Kemper to have ABC and pay 700$ day 1!" But the Kemper DID have AB and C day one... what it didn't have was more cabs/amps/pedals b3ecause they had not been made yet. Kemper deserves the blow back and the revenue loss is has and will continue to take for screwing people over by selling them something twice.
You have a valid point. If Kemper was upfront about having these upgrades behind a paywall, which I'm sure they were planning all along, then people could decide if they're willing to fork $1000 for the full fledged version or go for the striped down versions. But they didn't and so I can understand people are complaining about it. Plus the fact that some people who have bought 2 players would have to pay $600 to upgrade' cause the upgrades are per unit and not per account.
@@Jellydonutable Yes, I can say that as someone who always considers a modeler/whatever these things are called, I will in no way start the endless investment in a paywall program that I don't even know how much will cost me over time. Then there is always the issue of selling it and having a license transfer cost and issues, meaning you might never even own your "upgrades" but rather leased them. So no... I'm not jumping in.
@jellydonutable I hear you but as I explained in my video, I bought the Player very much understanding it won't come with all the features and that I would have the option to pay for them one day...
@FEV369 Yeah I think I just see this very differently to you 👍🏻
@@CantAffordToRecord Sure, but it appears Kemper is taking a massive hit in real time. We can see things different, but reality will never care what we think.
The cost is extortionate £€ 300!!😮 like you said previously £30 maybe. I was going to buy one of the players the other week and glad I didn’t, Kemper have lost a new customer, I’ll take my money elsewhere. Also agree with units that don’t have an on/off switch 😂
As I said in the video, I believe the steep upgrade cost means all Kemper owners stay on a somewhat equal playing field. I love mine as it is so I don't feel the call to upgrade 🤷🏻♂ If should FOR SURE have an on/off switch 😅
It's funny how shills try to rebrand the name "update" to justify this. No need to justify haha, if you want it buy, if you don't then don't. No need for word gymnastics
Updates are free, have been for 12 years with the Kemper. Upgrades are not free updates, an upgrade continues to get free updates.
If you add a two footswitch for $20 you'll now have 7 foot switching options considering the latest free firmware update enabled dual 1/2 & 2/3 foot switching.
People and TH-camr influencers were too emotional when the paid upgrades were announced. Instead they should have waited 48 hours to cool down and think before exploding with negativity. The new upgrade firmware gave a bunch of free updates to the Player....no one's mentioned that on social media because they're confused as to the difference between upgrade and free updates. If you do a paid Upgrade or not you'll still get free updates for years to come like we've been getting for the last 12 years. I choose to do no paid upgrades to my PLAYER. Because currently I have a bunch of Drive stomps, Compressor, Boost to choose from upfront and a bunch of Modulation choices, great Delays and Reverbs, Cabinets, IRs, every amp Profile imaginable including most important, Liquid Profiles, etc etc....compare that to the Nano Cortex....stock Level 1 Kemper Player wins, no contest. Plus. The latest free update added all the Amp and Cabinet parameters that the Stage has. Added ASIO Drivers. Enabled dual 1/2 & 3/4 foot switching.
Finally someone reasonable
I should go visit and we can compare my tonex to the kemper Could be a fun video
Well. Leo Gibson, "the scientist" just did a Nano Cortex vs Player video. When comparing a studio Profile and a Capture of his Marshall using a null test the Cortex was 8% more accurate. However, when he did a Kemper Liquid Profile and compared that to the same Cortex Capture using/tweaking the Gain & EQ controls on both units the Liquid Profile was 18% more accurate than the Cortex Capture. So a ToneX vs Player Liquid Profile would be interesting, I'm sure he'll do one.
wow, I've been using REAPER for years and didn't know that. I usually make a region for the render period and double-click it, but this is easier (and doesn't result in overlapping regions). Another render tip is that you can save render presets. I have one I use for when I want to do a quick and dirty bounce to mp3 but with loudness boosted a bit, and another for my final project renders.
Glad it helped!
Nice tip will have to give it a try
Ive got (2) Heritage VTX amps and (4) Classic VTX amps. Overall I own 34 peavey amps. Best products ever invented!
They're pretty awesome, last a life time!
Hello! How it sound VLA 2 in song mastering? 🤔
I've only mastered a couple of songs with it but it's nice to have that tactile approach with less options than a plugin. Sounded good to me!
I bought a used one ten years ago (I live in France), the guy didn't use it anymore. I paid 80€... but the handle was missing... when I took it, I immediatly understood why he sold it so cheap 😅. In mine, there are scorpions speakers. Wonderfull clean sound and tubescreamer sound inclosed. I don't use it often cause it is very loud, but i will never sell it.
Awesome story! The clean sounds in the Heritage I think are awesome!
All i use is vintage Peavey now. I got one of those amps It had been left outside for years and it still works.
They will out live us all
