Micro Fish in Ogallala Nebraska
Heres a quick showcase of some really cool species I caught in Ogallala awhile back. Me and some of my friends seined and dip netted in order to collect and photograph these fish. The coolest find is the state threatened Northern Redbelly Dace. Like and subscribe!!

Mexico is North America bud😂 don’t feel bad for showing the red tail split fin
Can you do a guid video on keeping bullhead catfish
Sure can!
Have you had success keeping clams alive? Heard mimicking their diet is tricky
Nope I’ve never kept them. I really want to try them in my ponds tho. I’ve done a little digging and I think I’ll have decent success if I have them outside.
Thought that was a clam in the middle of the tank
Kit cat
This is why I rarely ever catch green sunfish lol
They are so aggressive for some reason. Ive seen little bluegill attempt to eat a jerkbait that was their own size
Nice catfish!
Your videos are amazing. I saw your redbelly dace darter and fathead minnow on iNaturalist
Nice
Great looking fish 👍👍👍
Looking nice dude looking to pick up this species for my self
I caught my drarter about a year ago in a small stream. The only thing I have seen him eat was worms and any bug that enters.
Nice vid. Regarding the banded darters you may need to include insects and snails in their diets and some moss covered rocks to help them thrive. Same with greensides.
I’m a lizard keeper from australia and it’s a common misconception that they lol I’ve in the desert but they don’t. It’s much more of a rocky/rough terrain. I don’t agree with rack keeping either I thinks it’s a bit cruel
Damn. This lizards doing amazing. Laying eggs eating and living its best life. This is a very common way of keeping reptiles and nocturnal animals like this one have no problem with it. Would a tank be better, yes, but a rack is not unhealthy or cruel as long as you feed water and heat your animal properly
Geez, your sunfish pond is fantastic!
What kind of fish are they?
Central Stoneroller, logperch, sand shiners and slender Madtom.
Were you get the madtom you just get lucky
I caught it in Missouri
cute! I just got one yesterday. I have rose daces in my tank, crayfish, clawed frogs, darters, snails, tadpoles (wood frogs), mosquito fish, baby shiners, watercress and the tank is thriving! good luck! oh and plecos because the sculpins didn't survive..
Did you use dip nets or seine nets?
Both
V nice vid, buddy! Nice edits
If you're willing to ship, I would buy a few orange spotted sunfish!
I don’t currently have any orangespots I would want to sell and I also don’t have any tank space unfortunately. I’ve thought about selling native fish but I don’t think I’ll do it till I’m out of college.
HEY! you forgot to italicize or underline their binomial nomenclature names!
I tried😂😂
Wow you must be a catch with all the girls 😏
Looks like a fun day on the river!
Very cool footage 👍👍👍
Cool video, are you also in Nebraska? I’ve got my own native tank that I set up at Creighton with a bullhead and green sunfish
Yup, I live in Omaha.
@@Nebraska_Fish ah I saw your Nebraska netting video and thought it looked like papio creek. I’d rather have took a madtom than my bullhead but I had no idea how to catch them
Update
Spring 2024 fish collection coming soon!!
😮 Gorgeous!
Whoop!
What size tubs/rack do you use?
30 liter sterilite tubs
Those banded darters also tend to keep better color when algae is present
Oh trust me, there’s algae. Mostly hair and string but it’s there. I’m looking at the tank now and there grazing on it as I’m typing this.
Just Subscribe to ur awesome TH-cam channel my friend 😊😮❤
Thank you!! Much love🫶🫶
Feeding time 😊😮❤🎉🎉
I had on in a tank with a freshwater moray. All white gravel obsidian and some ice rocks and some holey rocks. Coolest tank ever.
Great video!
Release it into your basement
delectable feast
Very nice
What sp
Nephrurus amyae
good stuff brother
Looks like it might have a pretty potent sting, careful.
Where did you get the orangespots from?
Missouri River
@@Nebraska_Fish I was hoping you were going to say some website.
Nope, all of my stuff is wild caught. Jonah’s Aquarium might sell them.
@@Nebraska_Fish I check with Jonah's monthly, and I am on the mailing list for orangespots. They're too gorgeous to not be kept!
Enjoy what you're doing. Thank you!
Very cool video 👍👍👍
Haha, the look on that gecko face was priceless! Like… “Punk, put me down!”
She’s a feisty one
Do you keep the tank at a cold temp? If so how do you avoid condensation?
All I do is not but a heater in the tank. They get pretty warm in the summer but drop down to the high sixties in the winter. Not really cold enough to get condensation.
