It sure is one of the worlds great airports to fly out of, and arrive at as well.

I cannot unseen that now... Thankfully Goa doesn't use GOA as it's airport code...

There was a time I had a preference for sitting in the first few rows of Economy, however after changing to having a preference for the back of the aircraft, I would say at least 70-80% of the time I end up with a row to myself, and at the very least the seat next to me empty (obviously excluding fully booked flights).

A great place to visit (& live)...

From Lauterbrunnen you can easily catch the train back to Grindelwald via Zweilütschinen (Heading towards Interlaken Ost) or back over the Mountains through Wengen & Kleine Scheidegg. Thank you. I already have Kajaani on my 'to visit' list, especially to see the Castle Ruins and Museums. Maybe later next year as I have several upcoming trips, back to Rovaniemi, also Luosto, Ivalo & Saariselkä.

I did comment in the description the flight left on time, and arrived slightly early. Departure time was 10:17 (scheduled time 10:15) and arrival into HKG was 17:22 (scheduled time 17:55). Total Time 8h 56m. Thank you

Thank you... I am back staying there for a long weekend next month, then again in early January plus early March between flights. Whilst not directly at the airport, it is close enough, with the shuttle, and train are both super convenient, and some good bars, restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance.

@@ausflyer yeah lots of good food definitely around the area . There way a really good Katsu restaurant across the street . I thought next door to the hotel was a grocery store when I walked it I was like what is this I guess it’s a pachinko casino 😂

Given I normally always sit at the back of the Economy Cabin, that is normally where the CSS (Customer Service Supervisor) is located. If there is enough time pre departure I will seek them out, or when they come around to greet high tier frequent flyers (Platinum & Higher) I will give it to them then. In aircraft like the B787 or A330, my preferred seat is directly in front of the Galley where they will be. They are always super appreciative.

The B738's are not that bad for short flights of 1-3hrs. Although I would do everything possible to avoid them on a SYD-PER flight. The A321XLR's will be great, and long overdue, plus there are already the 5 x A223's on fleet with more arriving every few weeks (great for shorter flights like SYD-CBR, MEL-HBA etc but just as good on longer, less demanded flights like HBA-BNE).

@@ausflyer when I flew on the plane from Nadi to Sydney, the seat felt pretty cramped (I’m 5 foot 11). The IFE system was terrible as the touch screen wasn’t working properly and the food quantity pitiful.

@@anguscovoflyer95 6ft+ here, and built for comfort, not speed. Firstly, I would do everything possible to avoid flying in a B738 on that length of a flight (same deal as Perth flights). Given Fiji Airways flies the A359 as a codeshare, I would probably take that option. It should be noted the A321's & A223's won't have any IFE at all, just free Wifi and entertainment streaming on your own device. Food, I would have to disagree, I have not had a bad offering in years, still. that is not to say that is the same on every flight out there (the Chicken Noodle Salad on this flight was excellent).

Shanghai was a lot easier to navigate than I expected. Using AliPay & Google Maps, everything was very simple. I am in Sydney, so enjoying a relaxing day off. Thank you.

The hotel offers very regular shuttle services to Disneyland and PVG airport, there is also a few shuttle services to Hongqiao Airport and Railway Station plus an early afternoon shuttle to the Bund. With the Bund shuttle, as it is only the one service, you would either need to just quickly enjoy the views and catch the return shuttle, or catch the Metro back to the hotel (which I found to be quite easy, and have a video on this:- th-cam.com/video/eaN9HWrLLd8/w-d-xo.html

Finnair are doing a lot better than many people realise. Whilst the issues of having airspace closed over Russia & Belarus is a nightmare situation given Helsinki's location, Finnair have managed to pivot. They have multiple wide body aircraft being wet leased by Qantas & Qatar, plus there network to/from the U.S. has more than doubled.

Finnair is one of the oldest airplane companies in the world. They fly also domestic flights.

@@turpasauna 101 years and counting. Whilst Finland is by no means a huge country, Finnair serve a lot of Domestic routes which I have flown on some of them, and a lot more to come over the next few months.

I haven't been downstairs in a couple of years (the last time was due to having 2 Guests, where I could only get 1 Guest in upstairs). The weather cleared up soon after getting into town, and there was 12cm of Snow that night, which made visiting Milford Sound the following day amazing (that will be the next video).

@@ausflyer Awesome that the snow made an appearance for you! Been a very average snow season this year in nz....we just had a massive dump and it's spring lol. Yeah qf definitely look after platinums and first guests upstairs! Us Golds and sapphires make do with average food...or go to Ek if it's open!

Given QF11 is now an afternoon arrival the sun won't be a huge factor, however, due to the direction of the aircraft the left side will most likely get more direct sunlight over the right side (aircraft tracks in a North Easterly direction). Economy passengers are not permitted upstairs, there is a gate at the top of the stairs at the back of the aircraft restricting access. And you cannot enter the First Class cabin at the front to access the stairway to upstairs) Best bet is to ask a crew member if you can deplane the aircraft upon arrival into LAX via upstairs to have a look at the Premium Economy and Business Class cabins.

This video was filmed on the 22nd of October, last year snow started falling in late September. For this year (2024) it looks like temperatures start falling below freezing around the 28th of September, with long range forecasts showing snow from the 8th of October (obviously all subject to change).

Thanks Les. I have not yet made it to Budapest, but it is on my 'to visit' list. I will definitely check the markets out there. When I flew home the following day I was surprised to see many people who flew down on the Friday like I did. I knew the markets in Hobart were popular, but it did surprise me how many flew from interstate just to visit them.

The service by the crew was great, and yes, aside from making an announcement prior to the meal service, if your seat is reclined they will get you to bring it to the upright position during the meal service.

I was booking this flight, then at the end it wanted SGD40 for seat reservation (which means its $80 for both way) and this pushed the price up to be slightly higher than SQ... so I went with SQ this time round. Hope to try this Finair one day... if the price is right 🙂

@@viwen that is unfortunate. Given I have Frequent Flyer status with Qantas I have never had to worry about, or consider seat selection charges... next time maybe.

I try as much as possible to avoid both passengers and crew (with the exception of the back side of heads)... In all honesty, I have not had a flight in some time with anything other than a little bump here and there. There are universal power outlets below the seats. You will find the power charge will be enough to power the device, but to charge will take a very long time, if at all.

Thanks Les, I last travelled to China many years ago, and have always held some reservations, however this trip highlighted how good, and safe travelling is there. Regarding food, given this was just a long weekend trip, I avoided getting adventurous, and for the most part either ate at the hotel, Shanghai Disneyland, Costco, and The Cheesecake Factory (I assure you, I did not go hungry)...

All good options that you have listed, looking at it from a convenience factor, I believe only BA & QF can offer a direct LHR-SIN service, with the 3 x Middle Eastern Carriers flying via Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi. I am pretty sure BA are using the B789 on some services, & the A388 on others (something to keep in mind). QF will always be an A388 to Singapore. Out of the airlines listed, Etihad is the only one I have not flown with, so whilst I enjoy my status perks with OneWorld carriers, they would be high on my list to try.

Having flown between Helsinki and Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, it would certainly be amazing to cut 3-4 hrs of each flight. But it is what it is given the circumstances. The bonus with the Helsinki to/from Tokyo flights in Winter, is a chance to see the Northern Lights which I have been lucky to catch on 2 occasions.

Late October is very likely to have some snow in all areas, maybe not a few feet deep, but there should be some. This video was taken in mid October, a few days after I left whilst I was in Helsinki they had a few days of heavy snow. I will be back there in the first week of November, hoping the Northern Lights put on a show which is expected this coming Winter.

Appreciated. I'm going Rovaniemi/Lapland with my daughter from 24th to 28th so hoping there is some snow and might try northern lights if the conditions are good.

Economy was about 70% full, however the last few rows were mostly empty. Given Qantas has both the Day & Night flight from Tokyo (Haneda) to Sydney, I would be guessing the night flight is the busier of the 2 (I don't mind the 4-5am start for the morning departure).

@@TripReportaviation keep in mind, with priority boarding I was one of the first to board. The last 4-5 rows were mostly empty, however forward of that pretty much every aisle and window seat, plus many middle seats were occupied. It is always a bonus to have an empty seat next to you, let alone a whole row.

It is a good option close to the airport, without actually being at the airport...

I have flown multiple Qantas A330 flights recently to/from HKG, SIN, HND & SYD and all had the normal sized water bottles (ranging from 350ml to 500ml). Regarding meals, prior to the first hot meal they come through with drinks and a snack (Pretzel Mix). Next is an ice cream (Paddle Pop on this flight, other flights have had Magnums, Ice Cream Sandwiches etc). Crew came around several hours into the flight with the mid-flight snack and drinks... This flight it was bite size cookies and a cheese & crackers box. Lastly the Hot Dinner Service.

Given how massive the Tokyo transit system is, I was a little worried a few 'mistakes' might be made, but it turned out very easy to use, and with directional features in Google Maps advising which exit to use, everything was very easy and straight forward. Everywhere I went in Tokyo was very clean. Being an Airport Hotel in a commercial precinct, the look was appropriate, and the rooms were a very good size, as a lot of Japanese city hotels are half the size or less.

Thank you, If flying Business Class the seat next to you is blocked (it does not get used at all). So you can choose the Window or Aisle, & the other seat remains empty.

This flight had 2 options, Either the Chicken in Oyster Sauce with Steamed Rice & Vegetables, or, Egg Noodles with Beef & Mixed Vegetables. The pre-arrival meal was only the single Egg based meal, no second option. For my most recent flight from Helsinki to Tokyo (Narita) the following was served, Japanese Miso Chicken with Steamed Rice & vegetables, or, Spaghetti with Beef Meatballs, Tomato, Marinara Sauce & Cheese.
