QANTAS B737-800 QF137 Business Class - Sydney to Christchurch, Upgraded, Bus Transfer To Plane (4K)

- After a couple of weekend trips to Singapore & Shanghai, this weekend was a little closer to home, Christchurch, New Zealand.
Booked back in February, when the flights were on sale, it was a nice surprise when checking my booking on the morning of the flight to have received a complimentary upgrade to Business Class. Even though it was only a 3hr flight, the extra space, and enhanced meal offering was very much appreciated.
Once through the Immigration Smart Gates, then Security, it was time to head to the Qantas First Lounge for some breakfast, as usual it was amazing.
Boarding today was going to be via bus, Gate 26 is broken up into 4-5 seperate sub-gates (A, B, C, D, E etc). Whilst it is easier, and more convenient to board via aerobridge, it is always great to get out on the tarmac and get a close up view of the aircraft, and airport operations.
Boarding was completed after the fourth bus arrived with passengers, and we were soon on our way (at this time we were almost 1hr behind schedule, mainly due to the late arrival of the flight with our crew on it).
Departure was via Sydneys 3rd Runway, taking off over Port Botany, then La Perouse, then a straight line to Christchurch.
Lunch was a Prawn Paella, which was very tasty, plus side salad, cheese plate, chocolate & cocktail.
Flying directly over Hokitika on New Zealand's West Coast, then over the Southern Alps, before crossing the East Coast, and turning towards Christchurch Airport.
After arriving at Gate 29, the arrival process was very quick, and in a few minutes was outside, and on a Metro Bus to Christchurch City.
