  • After enjoying this experience exactly 1 year ago, I am back for more.
The only difference, last year it was blue skies and sunny, this year, raining, and raining hard.
Thankfully they provide Ponchos (rain jackets) for the boat ride across to the island.
Aside from the amazing food as part of the BBQ dinner, Desserts and Coffee, one of the main highlights is the location.
Plus getting to meet others, mainly locals, and a few that had travelled from other areas of Finland.
Savurafla Kotisaari operates until the end of August, I highly recommend it, and who knows, may come back for a third visit...

Just finished watching your video. Very nice setting. BBQ Central. Under the tent with fine food and good drink in hand with nice company. Not even rain can spoil the day. Regards, Les. You lucky sod!!! 👍👍👍👍

Good morning. Just noticed your new video. Will watch it later. Did you go to the BBQ after visiting Rovaniemi (the Christmas Tourist trap)?
Looks like you had a great time. Bet you felt right at home at the BBQ. Regards, Les.

Having visited Rovaniemi several times, I spent more time hiking around some of the trails, also visited a friend for coffee (more like coffee's). The only reason I go to any of the Santa themed places is the main one has an Iittala & Pentik store (& Marimekko). There is actually quite a lot to do and see away from all the Santa stuff, but that is a massive drawcard for families and visitors from around the world, especially later in the year (I will be back in early November, mainly to hopefully see the Aurora's again, plus head North and visit an Amethyst Mine. Thank you.
