I love this crash course! I'm a newly recognized Austrian citizen and now I want to move there in a few years or so and will be visiting in 2 weeks. The videos are great as I do not see a lot that teaches Austrian German. I even asked the Austrian consulate about Austrian German classes and they pointed me to the Goethe Institute which seems to only teach standard German.

Prepositions are hard and it's my current lesson in my OL German classes. But I must persevere and hopefully move to Austria someday. Des video is gscheit guad und VüenDaunk.

And when some tyroleans say "Wörgl" (a placename in tyrol) the r is vocalized so far back that it sounds a little bit like they are gagged during the r sound. 😉

Des video is Gscheit Guad! Hope next time, a part two of diphtongs in the Austrian dialect- sp/st if it is used by everyday Austrians as plain sp/st or they use the Standard German sound as shp/sht since despite the book "Speak Austrian" saying the sp/st as it is, one particular song "I am from Austria", shp/sht is being used for the diphtongs despite the lyrics as Austrian dialect, as well as ei(aj) pronounced as the Standard German form instead of the pure Austrian dialect ei(ej). Confusing, but I am beginning to immerse in the world of German language, so I can learn both Standard and Austrian dialect at the same time. The Standard eu becomes ei in the dialect and the pronounciation is aj, right? VüenDaunk und I winsch eich an schenan tog.
