Welcome to the Austrian German Tutorial. In this tutorial I'd like to show you some important prepositions of place in Austrian German. Most of them are similar in Austrian German and in Standard German, which makes it easier to learn them. In this video we are going to cover prepositions such as über, neben oder dazwischen. Let’s start with the preposition NEBEN. Any idea what it means? Neben is "next to" in English. For instance, the car is next to the garage could sound like S'Auto is neben da Garage in Ag. In standard German it is Das Auto steht neben der Garage.

Servus!, I am not sure about what you mean by “Austrian German”, do you mean German with one of the Austrian dialects, do you mean just standard German with an Austrian accent or you mean “Standard Austrian German”, I mean, is standard Austrian German(just Standard German with an Austrian accent) the same as German German(Standard German with a German accent), I mean, written German learned at school in Austria vs written German learned in school in Germany, are they the same?
Servus! I am using Austrian German (with the Austrian accents and dialects) to contrast the differences with Standard German. This goes especially for the spoken language. From a linguistic point of view Austrian German is not a language on its own. However, I try to point out the differences between words and phrases used in Austria compared to Germany, for instance.
