Loved hearing what your hits and misses this year!
You speak so clearly and I love watching your videos.
Always learning a thing or two 😊
Thank you!🌻🙂🌻
I loved this video! I just wanted to say CJ, you are soo beautiful!! Your light shines bright, I love to see your huge smile in every video. 😍
How sweet. Thank you for the warm compliment. 🌻
Taking notes for the upcoming years. We have a rising 6th grader but 7th grade will be here before we know it! For our electives, we are continuing with swim and drum lessons. We are working on learning Spanish with Duolingo. I love these Life Skills activity books. I need to order them.
looks like overall a good job
Loved your video! Succinct and entertaining! I loved all of the sound effects! Very fun! As it pertains to language arts, I felt the same way. I've homeschooled for sixteen years and tried every language curriculum under the sun! A friend recommended Christian Light to me. She said she used it and completed all levels with her kids and they had perfect ACT scores and amazing English accomplishments in college. I knew my kids were behind. With so many years of curriculum that didn't work well, they were not understanding or retaining as much as they needed to. My kids all tested (with Christian Light) behind their grade level. We did it last year and it was fantastic. They all remembered it and did amazing (comparatively speaking) on their end of years tests. I'd suggest you look into it and see if your kids have learned all of the skills in the higher levels. If not, it might help. It really helped me and we're doing it again this year!
Thank you for all the kind words. I did end up with a solution. I'll share that this week.🌻
We’ve used Writeshop for language arts for years. This will be our last year. Next year we will try 7 Sisters. I’m excited about it!
Thank you. I’ll look into it. 🌻
I feel like we have struggled more to find resources that don’t need a lot of tweaking since entering middle school. We are about to begin Excellence in Literature. It is an 8th-12 English Lit. program..praying it pans out !😅
Oh my goodness, I totally relate with the LA struggle especially writing. Drives me crazy. lol.
Every year it’s a thorn in my side. We pull the thorn out and keep moving though. 😉🌻
@@homeschoolingthroughhighschool love that analogy. I totally get you though. It’s totally a thorn.
We are using BJU press for language arts. Everything else has been a pain in the rear for us.
I hear you. Keep moving forward. It will work out. 🌻
That life skills book looks interesting!! We've been talking about life skills a lot, I'll have to keep that in mind.
That is how I felt with language arts until we found Writing and Rhetoric! We love it for my 5th grader and my soon to be 9th grader. I’ve also looked into the writing revolution. Language is hands down the hardest for me to help my kids with!
This makes me so happy to hear that I’m not alone. I’m going to investigate the two you mentioned. Thank you! 🌻
Oh girl! ELA has been a thorn in my side! There is no perfect one... that's my conclusion. I have started compartmentalizing it where I pick something for vocab, something for lit, something for composition and something for grammar/usage. Even then, we struggled a bit, but we surivived. I just keep chugging along. But YES.... my nemesis is ELA in homeschooling at the moment.
Yes-You Understand!!! 🙂 🌻
A possible language arts you may be interested in is Moving Beyond the Page. It’s unit study format with books to read with it. My daughter is switching from the Good and Beautiful to that. She did one language arts unit and it was a good fit for her. Fingers crossed it continues to be. As for my 8th grade son I’m still trying figure language arts out for him. Good luck!
I keep forgetting about Moving Beyond the Page. I appreciate the reminder. I’ll check it out for sure. 🌻
I need to add the Mindbenders and Critical Thinking to our line up.
ELA has always been a struggle for us forever so I understand 🙈...it wasn't until this last year that we found something that has worked. Prairie and Pine is a new curriculum company that focuses on ELA, but pulls a bunch of different methods and material focused around different book guides with some writing than we have been pairing them with Wonder House Creative writing units. They have a lot of research based writing units and my kids have loved both. I know all kids and families are different, but it feels good to find one that seems to be a hit for all three kids.
I have not heard of them and I thank you for sharing because I won’t give up. Something will have to hit the mark. I’ll check them out. 🙂🌻
I know you have used 7sisters for some rings before. Have you used their high school writing? Or even their complete LA?
Awww …. Yes! Thanks for this reminder. 🌻
