What a great job you do on these videos , thanks for all your work.
Great job👌🏼 Another really special place from our little piece of Heaven🙏🏻And the history…………
Love your video and story with it. thks so much. Cape Breton is a very special place, and I'm happy to call home. ❤
You’re right Cape Breton Island is a special place. A beautiful place. And so much history. Thank you for watching and commenting. The comments from viewers are fun to read. ❤️
Are doing this in any kid of order?
Not so much. The only order happening is at the County level - I’ve started out focusing on beaches within Cape Breton County/CBRM because they are closest to where I live. (With exception of my Baddeck video in Victoria County, and my Point Michaud video in Richmond County).
@@CapeBretonBeachLife Great job. Point Macheud is awesome .
So I just came across this video and I’m excited to watch more. Very well done and I didn’t know this beach myself. However I do love the area. I grew up on the beaches of CB and I love them all still to this day. I wish I lived in the Cape for the beaches alone. Shame the summer is so fleeting enjoy the beautiful fall and keep up the good work. Some of my favs in your list ❤
I just read some comments and again I feel so grateful for growing up on those beaches. I would live at groves point, Florence Indian and “round lake “ then Big Glacé bay and Morien and Catalone were huge as we got older. The Gut was a regular obviously Dominion beach was the hot spot in its heyday. But as much as I love these areas the Westside of the island is also my heart because my family dragged us all over growing up in the 70s was dangerous but a lot of fun 🤣🤣🤣and we beach bummed it everywhere then. I’m so sad I don’t have a place there now 😢enjoy and keep it up 👍
Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments! I’ve enjoyed visiting these beaches and I can’t wait to venture over the the west side :)
Point Michaud may be the best beach on the island! Definitely in the top 5, for sure!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree, it’s incredible.
there is a beach off of shore road Sydney Mines. It is situated near the gun station ruins , Beautiful beach .A lot of history here , hope you can visit it soon
I certainly will. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is were I grew up everyday at the beach all summer. Love it.
Awesome beach! Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@CapeBretonBeachLife Ill be there in two weeks cant wait.
Thanks so much for this video! I am enjoying your beach series so much; love the format, and the way you include driving directions. :)
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m so glad you’re enjoying!
Being from the industrial area I love learning about the beaches that are a little farther than I would have typically trekked growing up. Now that we are much older 😂 we have been using your channel as a resource so that when we visit home we have a list of beaches we need to visit when we visit each summer and soon retire.
Nice, apparently you can walk the tombolo to Point Michaud, but there’s a stream you have to cross. I think next summer I’ll go back for that walk. It’s about 3km to get over there.
@@CapeBretonBeachLife🙏🏻
As advertised!
Such a lovely crescent-shaped beach with beautiful sand, waves, and amenities. Thanks for the informative video, and for the added links in the description.
Thanks Wayne, hope you’re having a nice weekend!
Had no idea that this beach existed. Most of my knowledge of Cape Breton is with more of the northern area so it was really cool to see.
Nice! It’s definitely off the beaten track.
@CapeBretonBeachLife there is a similar one on the west coast too now that I think of it. Near Inverness.
I can’t wait to go West and North!
Also a great place to watch seals playing in the waves
I heard this, yes, I hope to see something the next time I’m out there again. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
It will always be Indian beach to me
Spent a many summer day’s swimming there as a kid but there was much more sand there at that time in the late seventies early eighties us kids had a time it was guitar popular then
I’m learning the shore is ever changing and nothing is constant. Nothing should be taken for granted. Mother Nature has her own plans. We can fight all we want but she’ll have way eventually. A beautiful sandy beach is not guaranteed to last forever. Luckily we are fortunate to have so much coastline/shoreline, we don’t need to go very far to find sand.
A charming little sand spit at the end of the Bras d"Or Lake, just a stone's throw from Sydney, with a long view down the lake as far as the eye can see. Nicely photographed and narrated, as usual, with pronunciations and etymologies of places like Ben Eoin for us non-natives. Thanks for all these great videos, and I hope your subscriber list continues to grow.
Thank you Wayne :) In my household you’re known as my Number 1 subscriber lol. I think you’ve been with me since the start.
Excellent Video . Like all of us , Polar Bear is showing it's age but still a great place for a dip .
Thank you :) I agree, it is still a gem.
I have only been there twice, but the first one was certainly memorable. I was heading down benoin way for a new years eve party. It was like 8 pm, and moonless (this was like a decade ago). I took a wrong turn and ended up going down on that drive and it freaked me out. There were 0 lights on it, 0 lights at the end of it. So I thought I was taking a turn to get to the shore of the lake, only to find myself on a narrow strip of land, water on both sides of me, 0 lights (only new the water was there because of the occasional white cap) and no clue how long it was or where it went. I ended up pulling a U turn after the bridge and went back, but it was pretty freaky. I drove it a few years ago while checking out some of the land that was for sale up there and realized that it was the same road I had been on before. (This whole thing was made extra creepy because I did have a gps unit in my car at the time and it was clearly not working because it showed me on a shore line road when clearly I wasn't.)
That would have been completely creepy lol Funny you mention the gps issue. Last year I used the Google Maps app on my phone to drive to the East Bay Sandbar… it sent me on a very strange and incorrect route - I ended up across the water from the sandbar in Northside East Bay . (the Apple Maps app works correctly though) Thanks for watching again. :)
Appreciated the deep dive on this one … I was familiar with the area but learned a lot from your video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video. Nova Scotia Public Works posted online that the East Bay Sandbar Bridge on Chapel Road will be closed for repairs from Monday, September 16, until Friday, October 4. I was through there yesterday and the old bridge deck was gone completely. Hopefully the work will go as expected and the bridge will be open again by the end of next week. A detour is in place via Route 216/Trunk 4.
Thanks for watching! And thanks for the additional info - I knew someone would tell me what was going on there. :)
Great video! Thanks... one note, the lake/beach is pronounced as Leever's Lake. I've never heard anyone pronounce it like you, and I've fished the lake for over 40 years (no insult intended). It used to be stocked twice a year, but since the land/road was sold & gated 2 years ago, access is impossible for the stocking truck. I've heard they're working on getting something going, but so far nothing. Another note - the lake is open to fishing year round! Good luck to your viewers! PS - the new landowner is very nice provided you show courtesy and respect!
Thanks for watching and leaving the comment. Yeah, I debated on the pronunciation… i picked the wrong one lol. I screwed up Dalem Lake too. I found out people say DAY-LEM not DA-LEM. I’m learning :)
I enjoy a feed of eels.
What do they taste like? What color is the meat?
Beautiful beach!! It must be a great place to take pictures!!
Yes definitely a picture worthy beach :)
You’re my favourite TH-camr, please shout me out next video
Tell me which is your favorite CB beach, and I’ll definitely give you shout out in my next video lol ;)
Near Little Pond. , near Florence is a beach off the Little Pond Road, The access road to the beach is called Beachside road. Wondering if you heard about this one
I haven’t but I just looked it up on Google maps. Thank you. I’ll add it to my list :) do you have any stories?
@@CapeBretonBeachLife not really . Several years ago a ship was caught on a sand bar just off the beach .Took a few days and a few tries to free it. Made the local news
This is another example of yet another beach I’ve learned about from your channel … despite the fact that I was born and raised in industrial Cape Breton 👌🏼
Thanks for another enjoyable and informative video. Your use of maps helps visualize the beaches and their locations.. I've been enjoying the research segments as well.
This gate is stirring up a lot of controversy with locals. Take a fishing rod you can cross any uncultivated land in ns as long as you are sport fishing.
I fished levers lake for years, it stocked quite a bit, rainbow, speckled, brown trout etc.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Glad to hear from someone who has fished at the lake.
@CapeBretonBeachLife I fish for mackerel on the bay,,a 40 second walk from levers, and then go up to Irish brook,on the beach, stripers, browns ,sea trout, great fishing.
The gate thing is an unfortunately common thing nowadays. Basically, there were a lot of properties that were access ways to the beaches, and were supposed to include public access to the beaches. New people buy the land, don't like that and want it to themselves so they gate and generally do whatever they can to stop it. Sometimes its legal, sometimes its not, and sometimes its illegal but becomes legal iirc. Basically, if they can stop the traffic long enough to prove no one accesses the waterfront from that way, they can get the access removed. It's a whole thing.
Thanks for watching and chiming in. Always enjoying reading your 2 cents :)
Another lovely video, this time of a beautiful, unspoiled cove. Thank you for making these videos. Each is wonderful in its own way.
Thanks Wayne and thanks for continuing to watch :) I just uploaded a new one about Levers Beach.

Love this! I grew up on this beach and visit yearly in the summer when I come home. I was home in August and noticed the cable warning concrete sign is gone. Baffles me why?! It is a piece of history.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed your visit home :)
My mom would take us to Polar Bear. We loved swimming there, would stay in the water until our lips turned blue and our fingers wrinkled.
Hi Barbara, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Love reading the comments. :)
Sorry in advance for using this beach as my own personal MX race track since '95. Still do. The no anchor sign is gone.

Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. Hope you enjoy.
Thank you so much for sharing these videos and stories from my childhood home. It has been many years since I last visited, but I think you have inspired me to return soon. Maybe next summer...
Time to come back home for a visit ❤️
This is fascinating…not only learning there was a nice beach here but also the history! Never made it past Louisburg when over that way.
I’m so happy to introduce this beach to you :) thanks for continuing to watch these little videos of mine.
@@CapeBretonBeachLifeLove these videos ❤
Lousiburg fell twice actually. The first time was by land, from troops that came from Boston iirc, and then again which is what you described. Also, though I can't verify this 100%, but I've heard from multiple sources including two history teachers at CBU but part of the reason for the restoration of the site was essentially a way to put a lot of the then unemployed miner's to work to help with the reconstruction. That was at least the political impetus, to inject some money into the local economy during a particularly rough time.
You’re 100% right about both points.
@@CapeBretonBeachLife Once upon a time, I actually considered writing a novel based there. It was a zombie-survival kind of story. It just seemed fitting to fight undead in what is essentially an undead fortress. They weren't 'true' zombies but more an alien thing, but yeah, never really got very far in it.
Never too late to start. I can imagine that. James Wolfe comes ashore… seems like a serious historical drama… then zombies appear - Quentin Tarantino Dusk Til Dawn style. ;)
Very informative and interesting. Thank you for your time. I'm going to be in Louisbourg this week. I'll have to stop by and have a look.
Thanks for watching and taking the extra time to leave me comment. Enjoy your time in Louisbourg!
This video is amazing! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful experience! 👍30
Thank you for watching Khurshid!
Highly interesting and informative. Next time we're in Baddeck, we will go to Kidston Island for sure.
Hi Wayne! Thanks for watching. If you get a chance, next time you’re in Baddeck, take a tour on the Winstar boat, it’s 90 minutes on the Brad d’Or Lake and you go right in front of the Beinn Bhreagh estate. I went myself Friday evening and had a lovely time.
Thank you for introducing us to Big Pond. It looks like a great spot. Too bad Rita's Tea Room was sold.
I really like how you do your maps. Very cool.
If you’re interested, I can do a Google Earth tutorial video to show you how I do it.
@@CapeBretonBeachLife That sounds like a time. Would love to see it.
Haven’t forgotten about this… but in the meantime… have you heard about Google Earth Studio? I’ve been using Google Earth in my videos, but Earth Studio is even more advanced. I’ve been following some tutorials this weekend. It’s pretty slick.
Another great video - learn some h I didn’t know about my own”home” beaches 👌🏼
