My Persian Corner

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ส.ค. 2013
Welcome to my channel! My name is Pontia (the "i" is silent). I'm an ESL teacher with an MA TESOL, introvert, animal lover, and avid language learner. I also love writing, so I started my blog, My Persian Corner, over a decade ago as a way to explore my Iranian heritage. I share language-related blog posts and cultural explainers, through the lens of an Iranian-American, for those interested in the Persian language and Iranian culture. I feel more comfortable writing, but a while ago, I decided to take the plunge and step in front of the camera to teach Persian/Farsi on TH-cam and social media.
I use techniques from my degree to bring you quality, practical Persian lessons, but as a one-woman show, it's not easy talking to a camera 😄 Regardless, I'm happy you're here and hope you consider subscribing as that's the best way to support these free Persian lessons for everyone and really helps boost this channel!

How to talk about being sick/sickness in Persian/Farsi
Hi everyone, hope you are well. Today, we have more of a topic-based lesson, one that I've been putting off for a while. We'll look at some vocabulary related to being sick and describing your symptoms. There's also a fun [more advanced] idiom at the end that's related to this topic, so hopefully there's something in here for all levels. One thing I forgot to mention is that the Persian verb that goes with taking any medicine is:
خوردن
khordan/to eat. So to say, "I take vitamins," we literally say, "I eat vitamins."
Since many of you have requested it, this video has both Persian and English subtitles. Just go to the video settings to select Persian subtitles if you prefer.

Mersi 😍😍
As always, very good and useful. You deserve a lot more likes and subscribers. But that will come, for sure!
Damet garm! 🙏🙏 Thank you so much! Yah, fingers crossed🤞🤞
This is lovely. So many things I am learning in Persian, make me fall even more in love with this language. 🕊️💕
Another great lesson. I find the idioms particularly helpful. Thanks.
Wow ! Awesome lesson ! Mersi 😃
And if it's possible, explain the word باشه, i really don't understand it's function with it's come at the end of the sentence
Sure باشه is simply the present subjunctive of بودن in the he/she/it form. امیدوارم که حالتون خوب باشه "I hope you are well." After امیدوارم we have to use the subjunctive.
Thanks alot Miss, keep going explain everything using two subtitles, and if you can please add two subtitles to the previous videos. Grateful
🌻🌹🌻 So nice Thank you
❤❤😊
❤😊
plz. what is the meaning and infinitive of میپیچم?
پیچیدن it can mean "to turn" or "to twist
Hi I'm manifested this video ❤
Aww, that's awesome!
I had such an elegant and beautiful teacher I would speak Farsi in a week.
great pontia, as always. I am now moving fast in getting ahold on Persian. Oft is an interesting word. Any connection to uf, which is exclamation in Hindi/urdu for something unusual, eg, 'uf, you are the limit.' , one says in exasperation
Great to hear that! I think Persian tends to get easier as you go along. I'm not sure about the connection to uf, interesting idea though! But I know oft alone can mean decline/deteriorate
Frear I like your way teaching
أين كنال خيلي خوش
