How much extra bhp can you get from a downpipe?
@@darylstafford8366 depends on the mapper really added 1 bhp on mine lol but that was cuz my actuator was goosed
@@Yodaracing1 can the actuator be swapped out with turbo still on the engine ?

@@jakob5144 if looked after they are usually pretty good but obvs they are getting old now and a lot have been abused

Bro you just have no luck :( go get another VxR man there the worst for electrical problems but its normaly caused by bad earths or something draining your battery like dead alarm battery, or the ifromation display system or head unit ... most of this u can figure out your self with a multimeter and Op-Com any problems with the peps openstart system on them you can't just clear the DCT's you have to remove the battery and let the whole system drain of power for about 20 - 30 minutes because it starts a security wait period ...

@@Yodaracing1 i kno bro i watched it all kinda upsetting to see .... there good cars when there good and alot of fun, but yeah when there bad .... just had some problems my self with the electrics on my astra water got into my head unit caused it to short and drain the battery over night and then the alarm battery wasnt getting power causing a peps open start issue and a security wait period kind confussing
@ i battled it for 6 months and paid a lot of money in parts and labour and still got stranded twice on the motorway lol

Hi Craig. Danny again. My astra did the same thing as yours ...stutta now and then on boost until it failed all together then no boost at all and was the boost control solenoid . I can't imagine it'd skipped a tooth on timing or you'd have that same problem every time on boost ,all plugs would be white and clean if lean or black and horrible if rich.coils....doubt it very much .should have left it stock and cried when an old rover vitesse passed you 🤣🤣

Engine should be OK mate, you'd most probs know it metal hit metal. I feel your pain though, I've had both O2 sensors, sports Cat, MAF & MAP sensors replaced in last 3mths, finally going like the clappers again but mainly due to the light wallet 😢

Ur not alone mate my luck is v pitts ,, i said this fault on mine was v cam solenoids , then eventually v pulleys gave up , v 2 solenoids will cause this code mate ,, i put an engine in mine 2500 miles its toast again so keep ur head up ur not suffering alone, as things may seem low and u might think theres no way out , just battle on and u will come out v other side stronger mate , as i said im here if you need to ask any questions

Hey mate, I've got a 4-door St225 here in Oz! Bought it just over a year ago now, bone stock and still absolutely loving her! So far I've upgraded the intercooler and deleted the symposer. Thinking about upping the power a little but am worried about running into issues like these. Any advice?

It sounds like an issue I had with my ST a few years ago. I had a hybrid turbo fitted and the garage told me it had a timing issue and the eml on. Turns out it was the cam solenoids that were faulty so had new ones fitted and it cured the issue 😊

Timing is a 2 minute check on these. How do you know its a tooth out, that would show the timing is in or out? Engine will be fine. Check timing and go from there, dont throw parts at it.

Tried the ecu kit didn’t work lol long story short everyone who touched it made it worse lol engine then blew up after next owner sorted it lol

@ sold it with the F mate after 6 months battling it I gave up
It popped up on one of mine at the petrol station the battery in the key was low plus it needed a packer as you know the circle foam was flat think I got lucky
Just re time it and if you wanna be extra safe slap a new belt on while your there and you will be fine

Even if you took it to a mechanic a new belt and re time shouldn't cost loads
I got exactly the same code to the letter. Changed the crank sensor if you know were it is £88.67 from Ford. Runs fine no code come back hope it helps?

@@Yodaracing1 When you get P0017 it can be the belts slipped agreed or the actual crank sensor its self. Remember there's no correlation "communication" between that and the crank sensor thus ECU don''t know where the crank and cam or positioned. Mine ran fine just did a read as I do from time to time and that DTC was in there. So as prevention's better than cure changed it before it actual caused any issues and died.
That's no good at all... I've been having the same issues as you, but I don't have that code and my belts, tensioners, etc were replaced a few months ago...

ESM Here check tensioner see if its got play if it dont then unlikely belt is the issue Cam solenoids have become a common requested part remove and clean them and retry or replace before trying to mess around with a belt replacement Everyone saying just replace the belt dont think understand the cost involved can get good 2nd hand engines for similar price

Bang on a new belt mate it will be fine once timed up proper 👍 put a magnet on the sump stud aswell before you do the oil if you dont already have a magnetic sump plug

You only use it on weekends you say? Not strictly true chap, you use it for Morrisons runs during the week too😜 May have spotted you a couple of weeks ago, I was driving past while you were reversing up to the hedge row, would have said hi if there wasn’t cars behind me.😅 Hope it’s an easy fix, like the comments have said already 👍🏻

Mine start running lumpy one time sure I had that come up got told to check my solenoids dirty oil can make them go out. So got them out you have to be carful prying them cos they can snapped cleaned mine up bk in. Never had the miss fire ever since. Mine wasn't looked after as much when I first got her

Could always be worse mate I cracked liner three months ago big bill of 1900 for replacement engine. As someone already said if timing was that bad it wouldn’t run. All the best mate. 👍🏻

@ it can seem scary to do but I done mine when I had my st and done my vxr myself but helps as I work on cars day in day out
Engine should be fine mate I bought a st few years back had a miss put in for belt change and mechanic told me it was 2 or 3 teeth out timed it up and ran like new so fingers crossed 🤞
That gives me hope 🙌
Tensioner is maybe on it’s way out. Just put a new cambelt kit on it and you’ll be fine!

Not the same the engine in the Volvo t5’s came fully forged, ford just ruin that engine they should have just kept it the same from out of the Volvo then there would be no problems with it.

You should be okay, if timing was that bad engine wouldn't run, you will be good to go. Just get the timing adjusted not that expensive

@@Yodaracing1 could be a bad tensioner or a bolt but yes dont drive it until fixed, if that belt comes off its bye bye engine

Always do the most essential first! Mines got the forge actuator and recirc now, after they were stock ones both tested and proven shot. MODX RS and the RS 440cc injectors. No dyno yet I humbly reckon around 285-300 bhp? Cam sensor change this week and brakes then new year intercooler upgrade but still on stock clutch I believe handling the upgrades fine. Prob is this side of xmas don't wanna put an intercooler in and push it over the edge then needs the RS clutch which I'll do. But be near on impossible to get done until the new year I predict? So new intercooler and RS clutch full kit, and 3" decat back from 2.5".
