8 is not bad but you do have to play on the hardest setting. 9 empires is S++++++ tier. Only one better than 5 the OG

Playing 5 XL again, it definitely deserves the top spot. Yes DW3 put DW on the path to success and we should acknowledge it but DW5 XL feels peak of the franchise still. The whole your forces absolutely mean nothing, you are a 1 man army that goes officer to officer needs to stop.

I personally loved the health the pawns had in dw2 and i hated the damage. Either way it had to be dmg or health not both bc jfc

Recently I've been enjoying 9E and even finish multiple playthrough. What you said is absolutely right, the character creation is super frustrating when you're trying to edit/create a character. The outfit is always a miss unless you use the same top and bottom, i also hate that some armor goes on top of your costume instead of removing it which can make the outfit look weird and ugly. As for the Grand Secret Plans, is it super easy if you're playing on normal difficulty, but on chaos i failed so many and the enemies got off so many even with highest tier weapon. The number of troops(can also be consider as Morale) also affect the damage you do to officers. Not sure if it's just me but in chaos, the more areas you hold the more invasion you get from surrounding enemy kingdom. It can reach a point where you're endlessly upgrading defense or defending areas which still ultimately lose some cause you don't have enough troops to win the battle. Battle wise, i think siege battle is pretty much the only thing they can do, i mean the game is based off 9 which is an empty open world. The map has already been designed and they probably won't spend extra money to redesign for a spin off game. One thing I'll credit them for is so far none of my children turn out to be ugly😂

In The Capcom game Onimusha Dawn of Dreans you had 2 discs and you had to change the disc in a certain moment of the game. There is non other capcom game i know that had disc changing.

I used to rent the original from Blockbuster almost every weekend, and I put hundreds of hours into it. After already putting 50+ hours into the remake I can say it’s super close to the original and extremely fun if you like the series. 100% worth it imo

Im a little confused. Was DW2 tactics not a main series. Story was immaculate and very well put. Combat was great and actually took strategic movement and combos that mattered. Imo one of the best DW games out there 🤷🏽‍♂️

tbh though, SW5 isn't really that bad. the story is character based *coughs (Mostly Nobonaga Oda) which I totally like him and the art style feel nice and different (in a good way) If you talk about the cutting characters and duplicated characters sure that's suck and the dlc is mostly chrismatic and you could just buy the basic game and enjoy the story

Straight up garbage compared to rotk xiii and xiv. Feel asleep on the first stage with how boring it was. Got my refund that same day.

Remake is only better in art and graphics , original is better and superior in combat and gameplay and also the 8 player hotseat not having that or an online mulitplayer option is dumb , lets me state why - 1 they fucked up scouting citys by removing the scout skill being able to gain info on more then 1 city at a time ( dumb ) 2 removing the 16 bonus officers you could gain by entering thier names correctly which thus locks thier stats tactics and skills i recreated them as accuratly as i could it took 4 hours so removing this also dumb 3 in combat you had the option to calm/taunt/confuse etc in the og removing this is dumb as you no longer can calm and release a unit from confuse panic etc so ergo dumb 4 now this one is a 50/50 in my mind but im half liking the new limit to attacks but at the same time dislike the cure/heal being limited because the old way of healing was good but removing being bale to heal in the stronghold is dumb 5 hiring officers in only adjacent cities also is dumb not being able to hire from anywhere is something they got wrong the old go anywhere without limit was better tho i do like that you have to bribe or talk your way into enemy or other factions cities so a 75/25 in favour of the og 6 when doing things like hire or plots like estrange etc it seems that if they dont have the reccomended circle then it wont work at all the old game gave you more of a slight chance of something working by change officer doing the task etc so the rng for success seems to me thus far narrower then before

DW5 / XL for me was the greatest this series ever been.

Can’t even hot seat. I was so excited. What a freaking bummer. Wish I could play online with my cousin. Can’t even play in person. How stupid can they be!!! So disappointed.

i know its a remake but the way 13 had the open world map and the ability for multiple battles to happen at once leads to way better campaign in my opinion. a mix of both would be amazing.

I agree. the animation give me quite the creep. I don't mind the slight body movements but the eye and mouth animation are....a bit disturbing.

I loved it. The family went away and I spent this entire Saturday playing it. My buddies and I played this on PS2 back in the day, passing the controller back and forth and had a blast. This, the music, ect reminded me of all kinds of stuff from that time, including turning the music off and listening to Nightwish while playing lmao. I told my wife it was a blast from the past.

This the most i heard and leard from this game. Great job.

the best thing about this game is historical events starting in the yellow turban rebellion and then going until the forming of the jin dynasty, you can not do that here one officer is not in his place the historical events are over then all you can do is conquer the map which is really useless when you do it ten or twenty times or start with the officer and scenario of the event you want because i already know every event in the romance of the three kingdoms and i always play as liu bei force which later becomes the shu kingdom/dynasty.

So in your opinion, is this more like OG 8 (which I've never played) or more like 13? And it's worth pointing out due to their unique talents, playing as Liu Bei or Diao Chan will turn this into a dating sim.🤣

I was very happy with how it turned out. I only want better AI in battle and doing more as characters, more created officer slots and more descriptions, more tales and force customization and some king rp stuff. I was initially upset that it would lose multiplayer but within the context of the features it makes sense. I wanted more ability to customize npc officers too. And more strategems. Beyond that it ended up fantastic. It just needs those bits more to feel complete.

For a while i actually thought DW 7 was the best but now i realize i only thought that because 1. My first DW game was DW6 which i played when i was very lacking for good war games and thought it was good. So DW7 was like a divine creation from god in comparison lol

Was really excited for this remake as rotk8 was my favourite as a kid, however the price just isnt reasonable at all in my opinion.

The possibilities are endless in Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8. Wanna see a nobody become an Emperor? That can happen! Wanna see Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi work together? That can happen too! Wanna see Guan Yu ditch Liu Bei and lead his own faction? That can happen as well!

Ah come on man, please play three kingdoms with chinese Audio 😄

I do plan on picking this up as 8 was my favorite version in the franchise. The main thing I'm worried about is the tactics. In the original, each tactic had 6 levels meaning that you would only have a handful of officers in the entire country who were masters of a particular tactic. In the remake, it looks like the tactics have only 3 levels. If it is too easy to reach max level and this leads to a lot of officers running around who are "masters", that would take something away from the tactics system IMO.

They should of remade X instead. You know, the sexy one.

Original UI / Artstyle looks so much better. The new UI looks like any free to play mobile game whole the original UI are consistently chinese themed rather than a plain yellow background. What this remake needs are more events / encounters / army varieties and they missed the chance to add them in the remake.

i'm too dumb for these games xd. But someday I will give them a chance, that is, with some guide on the other monitor haha

In your opinion what is the best ROTK game? I did have a lot of fun with ROTK 10 ps2 version but later 12 and 13 were not bad. This remake really hit the sweet spot of freedom to play any character and rich content through triggering historical or fictional events.

Its basically a clicking simulator 😢
