The Nikon Z6III is the new hybrid horse in the prosumer market. It's video specs (12-bit N-RAW/6k 60fps...12-bit ProRes RAW for FCP users) pretty much sits in between the Sony FX3 and 6k BMPCC. Photo specs? Business as usual...Nikon do what they do.
I’m a Fuji X-T5 shooter and I’ve been thinking about getting a Sony. I recently tried the Sony a7Rv and a7R4. The a7Rv was more comfortable and had a very quiet shutter to boot. However, if I think back to the most amount of fun I had with a camera, it would definitely be when I shot with Leica M film cameras. Unfortunately, I can’t afford an M digital camera. I used to own an x100f and X-Pro2 and that’s the closest experience to an Leica M, although it’s still not the same. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos!
Love my Fuji X100 VI, just need different focal lengths, looking to add a Sony to the mix. Thanks for the video
In my opinion any camera these days no matter if it’s an old Dslr like Canon 20D or a new one like the A7 IV will do the job just fine when it comes to do street photography In my opinion too the lens is way more important than the body of the camera and at last it’s always about the photographer,s eye to capture a good shot …
I wonder at 3:17 how do you deal with the silent (electronic) shutter introduces strips in some LED light environment? I found that at night I have to turn off the silent shutter almost all the time to avoid the strips. Because the strips is almost unremovable in post.
Yeah I definitely try to avoid using it at night or around LED sources. If I’m brave enough to get a photo I’ll just keep it off, and there are times where the banding isn’t very prominent and the photo is usable
Thanks for taking the time to review the camera. Sounds like you are yearning for a Zf... 😊
Haha I guess we’ll see, the ZF is a cool camera for sure
I use an old Fuji XT2 as a hobby photographer. Bought the A7iv as a full frame camera initially for birding as Sony has a nice budget long lens. Agree with most of your points. For a fun second camera you could get even an older camera like xpro2 though Fuji prices sometimes are very high. Even xt3 is still good.
Yeah I definitely feel like I’d wait for the XPro4 to have new tech, but definitely wouldn’t be opposed to an older XPro for the right price
Oh yes babyyyy. Making me wanna cheat on Fuji
Let’s swap?
Great video and great conversation. Found Sam on IG a while back and am always inspired by his photos. Thank you for making this episode. 🙏
It took a while and a few dms but the zine did arrive. He self-published while trying to make his way in the city, putting most of his time and resources into photo, and dealing with whatever else life was throwing at him. I don’t think his motive to publish a zine was nefarious in any. The work was worth the wait. The book is brimming with personality and full of great work. Sure it was annoying to wait but it was just the circumstances I’m assuming he found himself in at the time. I’m glad I waited and gave him the opportunity to get the zine to me. His work is great and that’s what matters.
Great video, I don't quite understand the problems you had with some of the locals, I go to Lisbon 3-4 times a year doing street photography and never had a single issue.
I'm loving these, the production and guests are both great!
Very good and very insightful!
w34th st is always such a shizzleshow 🥴😂 great vid fam, great interview …never heard of dude before, beautiful work🤌🏼✨😎
Never would've organically found this on TH-cam, luckily spotted it on Sam's stories as I'm a big fan. TH-cam algo needs a lot of work.
Great episode, big fan of Sam's work.
Some beautiful pictures and commentary. I can relate. I'm in Perth WA and feel a bit isolated. Don't know any other photographers to do street with, but my photography is a great release and brings much joy. I'm also a full-time high school teacher and also love my job. I wouldn't want to be a full-time pro, but I do quite a bit of paid work with my photography. The lady in Perth who organises all the big events in the city, throughout the year, I'm her photographer, for all of these big events. I'm also the photographer for Dragon Boats Western Australia. I shoot their regattas and national events. I also do portraits and private gigs. It's a wonderful life, not just the extra money that is nice, but the sense of accomplishment. Also with my press pass, I get to meet lots of really interesting people and get into places where others can't go. Photography is a real ticket to the world.
I was one of the admins who ran the fortnightly challenge for the Street Photography Community on Flickr that Sam mentioned....good days.
Great video. And Sam mentioned Flickr. Hey, lets make Flickr great again!
Let's stop making things great again...
@@DirkMenker yes maybe you are right. It can end so wrong... :(
yessss - very inspiring, love his work! Great episode
he's very enjoyable to watch, he has a good presence and i do enjoy his work! I can't imagine having a family on top of work and still making time to shoot street! for quite a long time i was shooting manual and it's fun to see how others shoot manual as well. i have always been more of a f2 - 5.6 and a higher shutter speed instead of a f8-f16 and lower shutter speed just because i enjoy the depth of field and super sharp subject, i'm ok if some people are out of focus in the frame. Good Series!
So excited to see this pop up in my feed! I’m also a Sydney street photographer, and Sam is arguably my greatest inspiration in my efforts to improve what I see on the streets and try to make more engaging pictures. I appreciate what you do, Matej, and thanks for highlighting an Aussie on your great channel! ✌️
The most relatable conversation about the balance of your actual day job with the photo work. Really refreshing to hear someone talk about a situation so similar to myself
paulie b’s got some friendly competition! love these! keep pumping em out 🔥
Thank you for this video, Matej 👏 It's fabulous to see Sam featured here. It's very interesting to watch people's photography journey. I'm proud to be an Australian when the rest of the world is introduced to someone as talented, kind, and humble as Sam 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching! Sam’s a great photographer and an even better person
Such a great photographer! Extremely strong understanding of composition and light... I might now understand why I like so many australian photographers, the light is very special there. Thanks for filming this!
Haha agreed! Thanks for watching
How unstable are people today.
As things are going in the US - it will only get worse.
The guy saying he’s willing to go to jail if you take his picture… so dramatic 🤣. Some people can’t get out of their own way.
The guy was definitely not in a right state of mind, was actually surprised I was able to keep filming throughout that haha
I would just have to take it then....it's like a dare.
3:58 the Samyang magically appears on the shelf behind you! I have this Samyang 35 f/1.8. I bought it because it was so much smaller than the GM f/1.4 and I thought it'd make a better every day lens. Turns out I use it so much more than the GM, I don't have much use for the GM except indoor sports or events. Awesome little lens.
What lens are you using? The square one in the camera?
Quick update: i ordered mine and it took a year to arrive but it did finally show up with an apology from Trevor. Who knows what went wrong but all is well that ends well.
Stop making me want to move to NY
I will continue doing so until you do
Trevor is an amazing photographer I thinks that’s why we all gravitated to his work. I’m not gonna lie the zine situation was just as annoying and frustrating for me as it was for anybody else that got it. I followed the usual protocol of leaving comments on his posts about where the zine was with no respond or update which in my opinion was the worst part of it all the lack of communication. Eventually I did get my zine and I think everyone who purchased one did as well or is still receiving it. Now that I look back at that time the man was going through a lot not only with his mother but also a living situation and I believe looking for work as well. Once I opened the zine it reminded me why I bought it in the first place! The pictures Trevor takes are one of a kind but in a way also feels like you’re looking back in time to some old school style New York street photography. I think he learned from his mistake on communicating to his audience but so did I learn how to be more patient and also understand that he’s as human as we are and we make mistakes and we go through hard times just like everyone else. I’m happy with my zine and have nothing against him.
I got the zine many months late, its not a big deal. If anything just adds to the vibe and lore behind it. He's a brilliant talented guy. Just relax, you'll get it. Just message him once in awhile about it if you haven't received it, be kind like I was, and it all works out, he'll send it eventually. Literally not a big deal! To suggest he's a fraud is just absolutely ridiculous. The unnecessary aggressiveness and disruptive energy in the comments by several people is the true farce of it all. Lastly, it doesn't matter what any of you think, there's an army of fans behind Trevor and there always will be. He's a great guy.
I’m happy my zine came after a long while, but I’m just more excited to see more work from Trevor in the future. It’s kind of the main reason why I bought the book in the first place, to just support one of the dopest NY photographers out there
I thought we all got Hussled for real & man was just flagrantly scamming for bags with no legal recourse 💰🧠 😂 messaged him, then gave up on ever getting it, forgot I ever bought it, and then 8 months later it arrived at my house in New Zealand with a free limited edition print in the front cover, printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper (which I didnt pay for, amd was never promised) - needless to say I was stoked 😂 - super happy in the end
love seeing the process. for everyone complaining about zines.. I got mine in july of this year (took 10/11 months to ship) and personally it was more about supporting an artist that I fucked with rather than having a physical product to show for it. regardless, i'm happy trevor finally getting all of them out.
Mine took a few months to arrive but I got it over a year ago now. I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t gotten theirs but this seems like something that might have come about from a lack of experience and resources more than a malicious scam.
I got my zine within a couple of weeks, I know the guy packing them was doing it alone. Trevor didn’t run a shipping operation or anything for this, he sold a good amount and they had to be hand packed and taken to a post office. I guess it was just tough with that many to ship by hand. It’s a sick zine, the print I got with it is cool too. My style has moved towards images with no people in but looking at his zine always makes me want to head out into civilisation and see what mad shit is out there. Why don’t we chill with the internet cancel brigade, if you ordered one I’m sure you can still reach out and you’ll get a response.
Remember that negative experiences will always be louder than positive. I don’t really comment on TH-cam but it’s rough seeing the pure vitriol people have over something they can either resolve if they ordered one or just move on from if they didn’t?
Lfg film p&s is the move, can’t wait to see more film from you man 👌
i got my zine, it just took a while. id get in contact with him personally if you still havent received it. people are way too quick call him a scammer
I’ve been following Trevor on Instagram for quite some time and purchased his zine early on. While it did take a while (over 14 months) for my zine to arrive, I believe it was worth the wait. From my perspective, this is not a scam - I didn't even ask for a shipping progress and someday the zine just got delivered. However, I think there are lessons to be learned for Trevor, particularly regarding the challenges of managing logistics, which are never easy.
I had no issues with getting my zine honestly if your still having issues just message him directly than spreading more hate.
Half the people claiming he’s a scammer didn’t even buy a zine 😂 received mine later than expected over a year in fact but everyone shouldn’t be so quick to get their back up! You never know what people have going on behind the scenes 🤷♂️
So I got my zine like a year later. The zine is great but the situation is unfortunate for those who still haven’t gotten theirs.
Very fun day w the boyooos
Nice shots, I hope you ate something besides a bad danish and a candy bar during your day in NYC.
This video is excellent
Sucks to hear the negative comments about Trevor being a scammer. I thought I had respect for him. Regardless, these videos are so good.
Very nice, bro 🙌🏼
Thanks dude!
