      Huh, that’s a great idea. I use red wine in a couple of sauces I make. I will have to try that next time. Maybe the red wine instead of Worcestershire sauce. Thank you for the great comment and for watching!

    Salt makes it have more water

    • @CookitSimplewithEric
      @CookitSimplewithEric วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for watching. You are correct. Initially the salt draws the water out of the mushrooms creating more water. By drawing the water out quicker, then you can reduce the liquids quicker and speed up the cooking time. In my mind this makes since anyways lol.

    Definitely trying this one tonight to use a pound of ground beef. I love that the onions, mushrooms and ground beef are cooked together - liquid makes the beef tender like a stroganoff should be. The heavy cream! Divine idea for cream instead of Midwest standard, cream of mushroom soup.

    • @CookitSimplewithEric
      @CookitSimplewithEric 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I hope you love it! There is something about heavy cream and flour that make dishes like this stand out in taste and consistency. Plus cooking the onions and mushrooms with the hamburger really helps them absorb all that extra flavor. That’s why I avoid draining when possible. Good luck and enjoy! Thank you again for watching and for the great comment.

    Looks great, nice job Eric… it’s a little bit of an unusual recipe but the addition of cola into it isn’t shocking since southerners seem to use it on meats too…I love the idea of cooking in a cast iron skillet…does it develop a little bit of a browned crust as a result of the cast iron?

    • @CookitSimplewithEric

    I like to serve PB Pie with a scoop of marshmallow creme and chocolate syrup. Try it!

      That does sound tasty. I have about half of the pie left, so I will try some marshmallow cream with it tomorrow. Thank you for the great tip and thank you for watching!

    Just a guess, but I don't think natural peanut butter, the kind that has to be stirred, won't work.

      That is a great question. From what I’ve read, natural peanut butter will not set up properly and it will make it oily. In the video I used Jif creamy peanut butter. Thank you for watching the video.

    Only thing I do differently is I use a cup of whipped heavy cream instead of Cool Whip. I don't remember seeing that choc sauce in my area but I think a small amount of choc bits melted and mixed in Hershey's Syrup would make for the right consistency. Yes, I do make my own chocolate crust bc if I'm making a heart attack on a plate I want it to be worthy. lol However, if using a graham cracker crust I never thought to put choc on the bottom. I will now. Thank you Eric, another easy and very tasty dessert. :o)

      I like your idea with the heavy whipped cream. I will try that on my next pie. I do occasionally add the whipped cream and little Reesie cups on top when I really want to make it too rich. lol. Thank you for the positive feedback and thank you so much for watching again!

    Another winner Eric. I admit I would have added some carrots and potatoes to the pot and gone the 8 hr route. I was surprised at how little juices that roast produced. I would be inclined to add little bit of beef broth at end but would hate to dilute the rich flavor of the natural juice.

      Thank you for watching. I was actually hoping for more juices, but the store bought roasts around here are hit or miss. I have a butcher I like to go to, but they are about 45 minutes from my house. I don’t get a lot of time to travel there. They have some great English roasts. I also use boneless beef ribs with this same recipe and go the 8 hour route.

    I'll pass on the peppers. Otherwise, I love a good pot roast. The liquid is some beef stock.

      I almost said in the video you needed to try the peppers 😁. I guess now there is a Georgia pot roast that uses pickled red onions instead of the pepperoncini’s. I’m not a fan of pickled onions though. Growing up, my mom always added potatoes and carrots to her roast. It was always delicious. Thank you again for checking out my video.

    What I love about this recipe is even if you aren't a cook, you can make this. Meaning...those of you who claim you don't/ can't cook, don't get a free pass. lol Brilliant Sir :o)
