Come join me along my sketching journey. My goal is to sketch everyday for one year and to see the improvement from the practice. I've been an artist for years and it's my full time job but never really sketched. I came across Urban Sketching and fell in love and it was a challenge at first but I see my sketching getting better everyday. I will share with you some tips and tricks that have helped me to improve my daily sketches.

Love this! I visited my daughter who was living in Hoboken. We went into NYC a few times; loved Brantley Park, Times Square, Central Park, Guggenheim. We had fun! I'm new at this; my lettering is terrible!
Lettering is so hard for me too. This one just happened to come together nicely. I didn't get to the Guggenheim but I hope to visit NYC again and put it on my list.

Beautiful! I loved your choice about the sky. Especially under the greenery archway. It elongated that alleyway so nice! Just FYI if you don’t know yet. Those pretty wood finials are called corbels. But the word finial works for any decorative piece at the end of something.

I love your art and have tried my hand at a couple of them. My question is whenever I use a fine nib fountain pen for my outlines followed by using the water paints it smudges and makes a mess 😔. I always paint once the pen has totally dried but even then face this issue. Can you please give me some tips regarding this?
Hi, That's not good to hear. Make sure you are using waterproof ink( which I'm sure you are )and very fine lines. I have smudged mine when the ink is to thick or when I brush to hard when appling paint. When you are painting just lay the paint down and try not to rub the brush into your ink lines. If your still struggling then maybe do your inital sketch with micron pens and do your finishing detail lines with your dip pen. Hope this helps😉

I slowed this one down... to try and learn perspective 😊 and loved the sketch, as ever. Mx Your choice of music is better than most, but I much rather your voice. Silence in between is fine too. I may have said this before...
No you haven't said it and thank you. I will be doing mostly real time and narrate them going forward. I appriciate the advice about the silence because I wasn't sure if it was more of an awkward pause but I think it would be annoying to nonstop talk.

Try not to be afraid to use quality watercolor paper-it is amazing to feel some progress in your painting and it is noticeable. I do like the Stratmore 400 series as well.
