Honda S2000 AP2 - 2 Years Ownership Review
มุมมอง 12Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This is the fourth video of my ownership video series! It's been two year since I purchased my 2006 Honda S2000 AP2. It has only done about 20000km when I bought it from the previous owner, and I was very fortunate to be able to find an AP2 S2000 in such a mint condition. Since then I have driven about 7000km, and I have kept everything stock. Join me in this video where I share with you my own...

How to drive a manual car - A step by step tutorial using a Honda Civic Type R #howtodrive
I just came across this review. For any potential buyers I would like to point out so many features not available on NZ top spec RS. Theres no blind spot monitoring, no rear cross traffic alert, no 360 camera, no HUD, no side mirror demister, no auto lock side mirror closing. So disappointed with Honda NZ for not pushing to include these. Chip shortage is what I got advised by sales rep.
Sounds just likey corolla 😊
You know a Corolla that sounds like this? 🤣
It’s almost 95% like the 981 cayman interior and exterior. Damn! Porsche really should put more focus on those things to make a difference
There are quite a bit of difference if you look closely. Some people might think the similarities are part of the "heritage" and "history", like the 911, but some might think it's just design laziness, haha
I want a rwd only. Need to feel the difference with the x drive
I believe the rwd version should feel more pure, and it's lighter too, are you looking to buy one?
How is it?
The gearbox is pretty good, but I didn't get to drive the car though
One line … one has the wing deleted lol
So you like the wing? Or no wing?
road car manual no wing … PDK track wing
@brianhimmelman420 yes, that's the typical choice, but you don't think the GT3 is supposed to have a wing?
What u want FL5 LOOK BEAUTIFUL FK8 LOON aggressive❤🎉 Boy's go for aggressive 👉
Yes, looks is a very personal thing, You think the FK8 looks better?
@@sundaymorningdrives yeah it's look like angry mom 😬
While you are all pontificating over the roof, I'll take it! 😂
Hahaha, ya, it's a very nice sportscar isn't it?
Great review I think you were spot on with everything you said in this video.
you had a GTI right?
@@sundaymorningdrives Lol yup I have a 24 380 edition right now.
@@RaceCarFriends is that a special edition from stock?
@@sundaymorningdrives Yup it's a special edition created by VW it's the last of the manual gearbox GTI's.
@@RaceCarFriends oh wow, I didn't know that, I don't think they have it here in NZ
Oh snap! You know I had to be here for this!
Red type r is so ugly idk how ppl like it🤣💀
It's not that bad right? 🤣
Excellent video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it, do you own a GT4?
I’m a GT3 Touring fan because I don’t drive on race tracks. I like the muscular and elegant looks of the car. But both are quite extraordinary 😎
The touring is very beautiful, have you seen one in person?
@@sundaymorningdrives Yes, quite a few as a matter of fact. One of my favorite colours is the PTS Oslo blue. I currently drive a PDK 992 4GTS which is a great car with impressive performance. But the GT3 remains my dream. Who knows… 😄
@carfan3762 wow, nice! The 4GTS is a great all-rounder, you can drive it under any weather conditions 😀, good luck with getting a GT3 Touring in the future
Very nice informative review. Thanks
You are very welcome, what do you think of the 718 Spyder?
❤Ill need to add 10 KW of PV to charge da bugga!
You mean the beast? 🤣
Love your car! I have a 390 FE. I think you're missing the point when you talk about the side mirrors.. they are a link to the original Elise, work well and save weight.. Excellent review otherwise Sir.
Yes, I agree, it ties back to the original Elise, but isn't most of the parts? I read something that Lotus tried to change the side mirrors but couldn't find anything lighter 🤣
@@sundaymorningdrives I can't comment on the side mirror story, that's news to me! The fact it shares so much with the Elise is what makes it special, for me at least. I once owned Elise Mk1 no. 538 for 7 years and sold it with a full gearbox and Honda engine conversion.. I still regret selling it to this day.. had the S2 Exige S which is still the most reliable of any car I've ever owned to date.. but not as exciting.. covered 30.000 miles in 3 years.. and then another two S3 Elises.. love them! I enjoyed the videos you guys did and they were the catalyst for getting another.. Hence my purchase of a used 390FE earlier this year. Mine is blue with no black pack, which means silver wheels, coloured air intakes and front bonnet in body colour, which makes it look very different and more classic in my opinion. Love Carbon.. but it's expensive to replace LOL. However, I still think that an S3 Sport 220 has the sweetest ride / gearbox shift action of any Elise derivative, again personal opinion. All the best to you guys!
How are you enjoying your 390? Have you had it for long? You track it?
@@sundaymorningdrives I'm having some engine management issues due to the fact that the standard steering wheel with airbag has been removed in favour of a detachable mono wheel. the specialist I'm using knows what he's doing but my final edition has a coding issue which is very rare, but Lotus have helped to solve the problem, so hopefully it will ok in two weeks time when it will be finally fixed! I can still drive the car but because the engine management light is on I can't select any other drive mode.. I haven't tracked it yet. I have installed the exhaust valve controller switch which is awesome.. It's as loud as my Huracan EVO rwd which is amusing!
Es ):
Hi sir, question not related to car but will you help me where to find those cool shades? Thank you
I am pretty sure you can do that yourself 🤣
Hello, question sir not related to car but will you tell me or help where to find those cool shades? Haha
Hello, question sir not related to car but will you tell me or help where to find those cool shades? Haha
I drove the GT3 touring once but with the PDK. I would have preferred to drive it as a manual but it wasn’t up to me. It was the most amazing drive I ever had, I fell in love with this car and would love to drive it as a manual.
My GT3 is a PDK, the Porsche PDK is pretty amazing, probably the best on the business.
@@sundaymorningdrives No question the PDK is great but it’s rare to see such a car as a manual today, I just love the involvement a manual transmission offers
@gockelxxxxxl9584 yes, agree, I have a couple other manual sportscars, so having a PDK GT3 is just perfect for me, feels like I am missing out the best technology if I didn't choose the PDK, haha 🤣
@@sundaymorningdrives In your case it is different but as a 24 year old I don’t have the money to buy one of them but the ride in the GT3 made it one of my life goals (which is archivable unlike something like the Carrera GT). But thanks to the owner of the GT3 I’ll have thee opportunity to drive some cars soon I otherwise never be able to (he also has an Aston DB12, 991 GT2RS and a 918 Spyder which I’m so thrilled to drive on time). For the time until I earn enough money to buy a Carrera T (in Rubystone Red or Viper Green) my bicycle does the job and if it’s needed I can take the Volvo 850R of my father (believe me, this car still drives so well and it was co-developed by Porsche, so give it a try if you can). Luckily I live in Germany where I don’t need a car so I said to me that my first car should be a Porsche and if my studies go as planned I will earn the money in a few years.
I've driven so many manuals in my life , I'm over them. Pdk for me.
Mine came with a JCR exhaust then the valve button does something, i daily & track mine and love listening to music...i wish there was an even higher spec audio system
That's good to know, is the JCR exhaust much louder than stock with valves open? I commend your bravary in dailying your GT3, haha
@sundaymorningdrives yes its extremely loud inside and out when on it, i call it the Jekyll & Hyde button
@@adjrasta9365 hahaha, sounds like an exciting mod, I might look into it. How often do you track yours?
Excellent. One of the most thoughtful S2000 reviews. A tune (2006 onwards) can raise the redline a bit as well as lowering Vtec engagement. An AP1 flywheel is an invisible modification that makes a subtle but very positive improvement. After a few days, you forget how heavy the AP2 flywheel was. It has no downside (vibrations at idle, tendency to stall, etc.).
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I never knew about the AP1 flywheel, so it's a much lighter flywheel? And I would imagine that the revs will move up and down much quicker?
@@sundaymorningdrives The AP2 flywheel is about 21 lbs and AP1 is around 15 lbs. Revs thus drop faster between gears. For me the impetus was that the clutch had slipped from new (had 100 miles on it when bought), so I installed new stock clutch parts and a new AP1 flywheel. There was also a delay valve in the clutch master cylinder that I removed, although I don't think it made much difference.
@bannister556 I see, thanks for the insight, I find the rev speed much better in my S2000 than my FL5 TypeR, there is very obvious rev-hang in the Type R, but the S2000 is generally pretty good. I would imagine it's even better with the light Flywheel though, good mod!
im very courious to see how the doors act when you are flanked by 2 other cars in a tight parking spot at a supermarket in europe. might want to wait before preordering. shit show potential
The doors goes upward, so tbh it's probably better to get in and out in tight spaces compared to traditional doors
@@sundaymorningdrives true but will wait for actual footage of how they work in tight spaces. i saw other videos also and the overly sensitive door sensors is something that im worried about. thank you for your reply tho
@robbert15011988 no problem, glad to help, seems like a good car overall though, hopefully can test drive it soon
Blue or red
They are beautiful colors 👍
Amazing review very detailed
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Are you thinking of buying one?
@@sundaymorningdrives yea very close to ordering one just need to test drive it , random but is the steering wheel the same fabric as used in Tesla’s ?
@KGplays_ sorry I don't have the answer for that one. It's a great hot hatch though, you will love it! What color are you going to pick?
@@sundaymorningdrives white or black
@@KGplays_ not the special green color?
Great video. You can get a riser for the seats. It’s an easy install. I have a video on my channel how to do it.
Oh nice, I will go check it out! How are you liking/using your car?
@@sundaymorningdrives in my GT3 I got the 18-way seats and I love them. I had the buckets in the GT4 and let’s just say it didn’t get driven as much. I love the GT3. I do wish it launched a bit more like the Turbo s, but it’s way more fun to drive.
@@AverageCarGuy Do you take them to the track? The GT3 is not really a straight line car, I have never launched mine, I don't really see the point haha
@@sundaymorningdrives I do, but I nearly daily mine. I don’t launch often, but when I do it’s leaves a lot of the table.
@AverageCarGuy hahaha, ok, good to know you drive it a lot, you don't find it too harsh to drive everyday? I applaud your bravery 😄
Forgot to mention the large noticeable air scopes on the the doors , For me it’s a real winner !
Yes, they look pretty cool, anything else?
will this work on any exige s3?
Yes, should work on all S3 Exige
Engine for dream , is name of engineering Busso
I ordered my Xpower in white, looks great with the Orange covers. Cannot wait its coming next Friday
Oh wow, congratulations! Must be so exciting getting this amazing car soon! Let us know how you like it?
If this a non-hybrid, I'd be slightly disappointed as it should be making at least 140bhp stock. What fuel is he using? I take it the UK market ones are the same as NZ.
This is wheel hp, different to inflated bhp.
@@RRR_Motorsports I see, wow that's a real eye opener. So the actual HP at the wheels is 130? Damn that makes me bit sad being an owner of a 2019 Swift Sport... I guess it's still nippy enough and can carry 5 😅
@@sungketpatel30 they make good torque, have short gears and are light It's definitely a fun car
Thanks for showing the trunks/boots. Great video. Hate the top functionality, but love the rest of the car. Sucks that I can't take the top down without getting out.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video! Yes the roof is a little inconvenient, but it does accentuate the shape makes the car look very exotic, don't you think?
@@sundaymorningdrives Yeah. I had a Solstice GXP when they came out. it had the same type of roof, and I never remember complaining about it. But that was a much less expensive car. I still fine the car attractive though.
@chadbledsoe2416 yes, I think this car was designed and meant for sunny day driving haha 🤣
Dawg, if I had your money, I’d burn mine. lol Good for you! Enjoy! 👍🏻
My car was probably the least expensive in the lineup 😅
@@sundaymorningdrives Yeah, but you have great taste in cars! And that’s proof you don’t have to spend a ton of money to have something cool. Besides, you have the greatest sports car on the planet! (S2000) Or maybe I’m a bit biased…
@mikeyerke3920 hahaha, no, you are perfectly fair 🤣
It wasn't until I had a buddy who is considering buying an FL5 jump in for a ride-along that we figured out how to configure the LogR system. Very cool when it works, but I had two situations where it suddenly disappeared from my screen while on track: once when I heard a noise from either my car or someone close (don't even know what the noise was) during a lap, and the other when I missed a shift from 4th to 5th and instead started to engage 3rd before I quickly stopped it - glad that's all that happened. Now to figure out how to download the data from LogR. The download button doesn't appear for me, and seems to indicate something needs to be done to enable it, but I can't figure out what, or whether it needs to be done on my phone or on my FL5.
interesting, I never had that happen to me before, but I only used the datalog a couple of times only. Probably best to take it to your dealer and have them investigate why that happened
Old model.
Yup, definitely not new anymore, but still a pretty good compact family car
Good stuff Frank, thanks for sharing some footage and info of the Cyberster. 536hp, quite a step on from my old MGF!
I know, horse powers are cheap with electric cars 😆
Always gt3 ❤
GT3 RS? 🤭
You should for sure watch this video in 1.5x speed plus really like ur videos man
Thanks for the video. This 8s exactly what I was lo9kmg for to gather info on useable space etc.
Not much storage space in the Exige
1:26 Are these the official prices for New Zealand? Or only converted from chinese prices?
No, they are prices in China, just converted into NZD, it will be much more expensive these prices when they come to NZ, because of taxes etc.
@@sundaymorningdrives That is why I was so surprised. Thank you for info 😀
Artura is sick
It's very fast, just not that engaging to drive 🙄
Being rich must be wicked awesome! 😂
718 all day. It’s the better car
Yup, it's definitely the better cat in terms of performance! Have you driven a 981 before?
I owned a Lotus Europa in the 1970s loved the car, and I had a friend who owned an Esprit that I drove for a year when he was posted to Japan.
nice! So what are your memories of these classic Lotuses?
3.54 seconds awd, was tested by forum member in cold climate of Belarus.
That's quite impressive! It's already being delivered over where you are?
Beautiful cars
Thank you! They are very special indeed! Are you familiar with Lotus cars?
Another excellent video👍
Haha, thank you, would you pick the GT3 or the GT4RS?
@@sundaymorningdrives I knew you were going to ask that🤣with my driving the GT4RS
Always the 981 over the 982 🫶
Reason?
