- In this video, I share with you my 3 day roadtrip in the S2000 AP2, together with 3 other convertibles: a S2000 AP2 Type S, a Lotus Elise 240 FE, and a Lotus Elise 250 Cup!
Day 1: We departed from Auckland in the afternoon, and drove to Turangi via SH1 to stay the night.
Day 2: This is the most action packed day, where we drove through the famous Dessert Road and the Gentle Annie Road towards Napier. The sceneries were epic!
Day 3: We climbed up to the top of Whakapapa in the morning, and had some very amazing photo shoots. In the afternoon, we headed back towards auckland through the "NZ Nurburgring" which was filled with twisty backroads that marked an amazing end to our 3 day roadtrip.

Love it! That S2000 Type S has one of the colors (Apex Blue Pearl) exclusive to the S2000 Club Racer (CR) which was only sold in the US market. The S2000 Club Racer was Uehara-san's "send-off" S2000 before retirement: among other changes, the CR had even more more aggressive springs/shocks/sway bars and came with a removable OEM aluminum hard top only. Soft-top was deleted from factory for an extra rear brace added by Honda for handling. The S2000 is a timeless engineering achievement!
I drove the Type S briefly, and it definitely felt more capable than my standard AP2, it felt flatter in corners, handled better, and gave the driver more confidence going quicker 🙂
This is the life, man~
Very nice trip, had so much fun driving, you should do it in JP
