The record fair is also a good way to get a better impression of the value of your collection... I saw a few that they tried to sell for 3 or 4 times the amount that I got em for...
Greetings from Australia! Lovely video I’d love to go there one day, it must be exhausting with so many amazing records under one roof! Thanks ☺️
Some great stuff here! You're going to have me searching on discogs and eBay, and cursing the fact that everyone else who has watched this video will have had a month's headstart on me!
This is way over Concert Characterless' head.....to him, Jim Croce is obscure.
This was a great list. Never heard of any of these artists. ‘Welcome to the citadel’ isn’t cheap! The cover reminds me of that movie ‘The Fall’
Thanks! I just love the cover art of Welcome to the citadel, so good. Haven't seen that film, I should check it out. Hope you found some new music you liked. Cheers!
Thanks for the great video Jonas. I really need to get back to the fair, the buzz you get is unrivalled. Last did Utrecht in 2018 (my 10th fair) and I kick myself every November when I see the Den Bosch YT vids for yet again not booking up. Always did the 3 days and started at 7am to closing time each day but physically I'd struggle to do that now. What an honour to meet the legend Steve Davis! I think he's a northern soul fan as well as prog. Killer finds but I'd expect no less from you. It's great to hear bargains can still be found. Right, I must be more focused and aim to go next November. Cheers Nige
Hi Nige! It would be awesome if you came to Den Bosch. Actually, Utrecht 2018 was my first fair, so you kinda passed the baton to me. But if you go next time we should meet up and say hi. Yes Steve Davis was very nice, he's doing his own electronic music now. Cool guy. Cheers!
@vinylstockholm Absolutely mate...I'd be sure to get in touch and meet up 😎.
Absolutely loved this video :)
Hi! Glad you enjoyed it, I always dig your videos as well. Cheers!
I'ts an amazing story thank you for sharing it and shining a light on this incredible artist and her majestic music🙋♂️
Hi James! Yes she is an incredible artist, pure magic. Thanks for tuning in!
Watching your video is always the best way to experience the Den Bosch weekend. Nice Kraftwerk find.
Thanks a lot! Yes, I'm very happy with Kraftwerk. Cheers!
Great video. Me and a couple of friends from the Uk have been going to this record fair for a few years now and it is excellent. I always pick up some stuff from my wanted list and plenty of surprises too - my pick from this year's haul were a near mint copy of This Nations Saving Grace by The Fall and a 7 inch of War Dance by Killing Joke, which has got the classic Psyche on the b-side. Big fan of Flying Nun records - I have lots of Chills stuff but also other good bits and pieces like The Expendables. Maybe see you there next year!
Hi Martin! That's some fine finds, congrats! It would be awesome to say hi next year if you're going. My plan is to go next November. Cheers!
I found a copy in an antique store during the pandemic in North Carolina for $8. I ended up selling it, which I regret.
Hi, amazing find! Yes, it's easy to regret things like that. I have also sold records that I regret... Cheers!
I’d love a first pressing of In the aeroplane over the sea but, yeah, it’s not easy identifying an OG. I think I’d need one with a Peaches or Tower Records sticker on the shrink to feel certain
I still have the sticker that was on the original plastic sleeve. I cut it out and kept it. I bought it new in a shop in Stockholm 1999, I think it's the first press but I'm not 100% sure. Cheers!
@@vinylstockholm yeah, that must be a first pressing. You must have been young when you discovered them. I didn’t know they existed until I was in my 20s
@@Pluralofvinylisvinyls thanks 🙂, well I'm born 1975 so I was also in my 20s :)
@ oh wow I thought you were maybe in your early 30s. Guess you guys live healthier lifestyles than us Americans lol
@@Pluralofvinylisvinyls Haha, early 30s, no way! Well, thank you very much :)
Why is there a confederate flag at a record show in Europe? 🤦♂️
Good question, I was asking me the same...
The stall sold mainly southern rock records (Skynyrd et al)
@@joostdevries6859 Albanian records? That’s cool
Absolutely brilliant. We don’t have shows like this in the states so I am so envious. You and I have the exact same taste and many of the same records which is super cool. Elephant 6, guided by voices and all of that amazing flying nun material was amazing to find in the wild like that. Congrats. That rockin horse lp! Wow. I never heard of them. I liked it so much I picked one up yesterday on eBay. Paid a bit more than you did but that is ok with me. Rather have the record than the money. LOL. Great pick ups!!!
Hi Jimmy! I watch your videos regularly so I know we have similar taste in music 😊. So cool that you got Rockin' Horse! Fantastic Beatlesque power pop. Thanks for tuning in!
very nice clip :-) hope you are happy with your purchases from me
Hi Günter! I am very happy! Hope you had a great fair as well. Cheers!
Great video I’ve been to the Utrecht fair twice lovely place flew over from Liverpool not been to the new fair , the Zounds single is a classic 👍
Hi Andy! Utrecht was also great, but I think this was my best trip yet. Yes, the Zounds single is a classic! Thanks for tuning in!
Hey Jonas, it was nice to meet you in person at the fair, thanks for the shout out. I am hosting a livestream on my channel tomorrow Saturday, feel free to join us if you get a chance.
Hi Romuald! Very nice to meet you. I will definitely check in on the live stream, not sure I'm able to join in on screen though. Home with family you know :) Cheers!
@@vinylstockholm ha OK, no worries 😊
amazing video, and great to see all the documentation of the festival. So cool you were able to meet with friends of course and stay in an apartment together. The meetups and the comradery is the best thing about these fairs not to mention finding some amazing records. That's a pretty healthy list. The first one is the one I need the most having just sold the reissue but its a mega-important record to me: Great Unwashed. It will come home very soon I believe. Even to find the Dungen was super cool, amazing lp. Earth and Fire, I've seen never heard, what a die-cut cover. And Fallen Angels is another mega-want for me. There is a US pressing on Discogs now I am very interested in but not quite in great shape. I do have pictures of it which has somewhat convinced me to go for it but I haven't as of yet. And damn, cleanest copy of Group 1850 with the glasses. With hope, I can make the trip soon. Thanks for putting this together Jonas!
Agree, to hang out with friends that also like records for a whole weekend is fantastic! It would be so cool if you could come next November. Hope you can get the Great Unwashed soon, I'm very glad I found it. I'm also very glad I got the Fallen Angels, I've been looking for a US copy for forever, but this German pressing works fine now. Cheers Dom!
Great to start the weekend by watching this afternoon! Cheers Jonas!
Fantastic! Cheers Jens!
Hi Jonas, your record fairs are much bigger than ours in Norwich. I went to one here the other weekend and got some T. Rex and PIL Japanese albums with OBI's off a chap I know. I have that Tortoise LP on CD somewhere I think but I have that Millions Now Living Will Never Die on original vinyl. I got that Odelay LP recently but don't like it that much. Twink is very cool, he usually signs all his more recent stuff. I have Think Pink as just a reissue but it sounds superb, so breaking you rules haha 😊
Haha, you can break my rules as much you want. Yeah, Twink is great. Millions Now Living.. is my probably my favorit Tortoise LP, really good. After revisiting Odelay, I don't think it holds up as well as his previous 90's LPs, which I love. So I agree.
Jonas, hard to tell if you were being serious or sarcastic. 😊 I have broken all your rules even though I always strive to collect original UK vinyl releases. A real completist to me is if someone buys all the many different variants released of ... say the new Cure album (like my mate bless him). New releases also have too many different coloured vinyl variants!
Haha, I've probably also broken all my rules, but this is roughly how I collect. But the most important thing is that everyone can collect how they want (my last point). But I think it's pretty weird to be a completist who has ten different colored vinyl of the same title. I just don't see the point. But, hey, whatever gets you through the night is fine 🙂
@@vinylstockholm Yeah, we do rib him about it!
Hi Jonas, such an informative video, just subscibed. That Flying Nun label is such an expensive rabbit hole, I've avoided those but collect Sarah records stuff instead which is a bit crazy. I got that Earth and Fire LP in mint at a car boot for £2 years ago, my best ever find. Great finds with the Spacemen 3, Young Marble Giants and Zounds records - I will have to dig out those last two bands LP's and give them a spin. Are Guided By Voices a bit like Flying Saucer Attack? Also from the mid 90's, I really recommend them. Cheers, Paul (UK)
Hi Paul! Many thanks! There's some great stuff on Sarah (and some are also pretty expensive). Cool label. Wow, £2 for Earth and Fire, that was a great find! Flying Saucer Attack are more shogaze compared to Guided by Voices, it's more lofi indie rock with awesome songwriting. I have the first Flying Saucer Attack LP, really great! Thanks for tuning in and subscribing!
Now that you mentioned it, I don't believe I've ever bought a Foghat LP from a record show 😁 many thanks Vinyl Stockholm ✌️🤘
😂 Me neither! Haha Cheers!
Hi Jonas, I enjoyed the video, it looks like you had a great trip. The high light obviously being meeting the legend that is Steve Davis! Steve (very unfairly) used to be called Steve ‘interesting’ Davis on account of the fact he gave the impression in interviews of being a bit boring. Little did everyone know at the time he was a music nut with a huge collection of rare records. After snooker he has built a second career as a DJ. He’s also a very good poker player and was chairman of the British Chess Federation. Not at all boring! Interesting you mentioned your friend picking up a copy of Oar. The owner of my local record shop recently recommended Skip Spence to me but I had to make do with Spotify. Just subbed up. Andy
Hi Andy! Great info, agree, not boring at all. Really nice guy with lots of cool stories. I love the Skip Spence Oar LP! Thanks for subscribing, take care!
Please tell me the jazzy flute music you used for your intro on your video. Nice trip overview.
Sorry, I didn't mention it in the video. It's Kraftwerk with the song "Ruckzuck". The song I talked about when I showed the Kraftwerk album I got. Thanks for tuning in!
Hi Jonas, I'm thrilled, first of all a compliment for your excellent taste in music, I've listened to some of the records (your purchases). Wow, there's so much to discover beyond the mainstream, great video. The Earth in Fire in a gimmick cover for 2-300 euros, unbelievable? I know Stunty, Michael45 and Thomas B. from streams and videos on YT, just like Romuald (French vinyl addict), a very pleasant person, unfortunately I don't know the people personally yet. The "Wall of Records" streams are legendary. Minty Vinyl, Günter is really a smart guy, I'll visit him soon in his record store, which is around the corner from me (30km). At this point, thank you for your Den Bosch review, it was really very impressive. It's nice when you can live your hobby like that. Thank you Best wishes Patrick
Hi Patrick! Glad you like the video, and cool that you dig some of the music. Wow, a bit dangerous for the wallet to live so near Minty Vinyl, haha 😀 He has some amazing albums. Actually I paid 180 euro for Earth and Fire, what a bargain! Thanks for tuning in, take care!
Kraftwerk ❤
Argee! ❤️
Wow!
Fantastisk omslag! Vi hörs!
Hi Jonas, I‘m a Collector from Germany. Really nice video, thanks for your work. What is the Name of the Hotel where the traditional unofficial record fair is?
Hi, thanks, glad you like it. The hotel is called The Den. Cheers!
Hi! The hotel is called The Den. It's a 5 star boutique hotel in the centre of Den Bosch.
Very well made video of fair. Thanks. Nice finds also. I liked the sound clips, even not actually in my genre. Dungeon is great.
Hi Tommy! Glad you enjoyed. Yes, Dungen is a great band :) Cheers!
Good show for me I found a few nice prog and Scandinavian LPs which is interesting for me as we don't get a lot of Scandinavian rarities in France. I recommend going on Friday, quiet and nice. Think I saw you but next time let's connect and say hi !
Cool! Yes, next time come say hi! Always nice to meet up. Glad you found some Scandinavian LPs, and I agree, Friday was the best day. Cheers!
Nice overview of your trip to Den bosh. It will be a dream come true for me the day I step in those big halls. Cheers from Rio, Nelio.
Hi Nelio, yes it was amazing, hope you can live the dream someday. Thanks for tuning in!
Superb finds.
Thanks 👍
Great vid! I must get to Den Bosch one of these days. As a Kiwi I’m impressed you like and found those Flying Nun records, what gems, and the condition is superb. They’re not easy to find here in NZ even. My pride and joy record’s from FN are The Chills, The Gordon’s, Bailterspace, Straitjacket Fits and Superette. I have original pressings of Pavement’s Wowee Zowee and Brighten The Corners.
Hi! Yes, I really like the early Flying Nun stuff, love the DIY vibe. The Chills Pink Frost single is one of my top wants now. But as you said, they're hard to find. Wowee Zowee is just great! Thanks for tuning in!
I wonder why the algorithm served me your video... :-) Flying Nun is my speciality. I'm not a collector though. Well maybe I was untill I sold 300 items 15 years ago. I have a few NZ playlists on my account to show for it. Might come in handy doing research. Of course there's the Needles and Plastc book Matthew Goody wrote. I did a zine in 89 called Tuatara. Oh, Strange Loves is produced by HamishKilgour. The first Pavement review I read was by Bruce Russell from the Dead C. Etcetera. Take care.
Hi! Thanks for the additional info, I found some really cool videos on your channel. I have the book Needles and Plastic, great source of info. I'm digging after Flying Nun stuff from the 80s, I love the DIY vibe and the music is right up my alley. Take care!
@@vinylstockholm I was lucky, local sttores threw heaps in bargain bins as they were expensive imports and weren't sold.Holland was completely UK minded. Happy hunting, pity we didn't connect in 2011, could've made you very happy...
@@Econojam Haha, yes I bet you could have made me happy! :)
Those are great finds! I've had Ta Det Lugnt on my list for a long time! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I was really glad I found it at the fair, classic album. Good luck searching for it. Thanks for tuning in!
Really enjoyed your show . Living in the states I’d like to make it to Austin. It’s the states biggest show. Take care I’m learning abt some groups I’ve never heard of. I enjoy prog Rock and fusion jazz. Take care art
I would love to go to Austin record fair some day! Thanks for tuning in! Take care
Placebo - Ball of Eyes spotted right out of the gate. My fair would have been complete right there lol
Haha, wonderful! Thanks for tuning in :)
Amazing finds. I scored Shuckin' And Jivin 7" by the seeds and worth the whole trip
Thanks! Wow, that's a really cool single, congrats!
Hi jonas , thanks for posting this video I’m going to den Bosch in April with friends so I found this so interesting.. some great pick ups factory and flying nun especially. Nice that you met up with stunty. What a party animal 👍
Hi Rob! Fantastic, hope you get as good a trip as we had. And hope some of my tips can help. Just subbed to your channel! Cheers!
@ hi , I subscribed last night I enjoyed your delivery look forward to watching more video. Steve Davis is like a member of the British royal family. Stunty told me he was going with him. He mentioned he’s a top guy
Utrecht and Den Bosch are no towns, they are cities you dummy 😂
Hi Jonas, congrats, so many amazing finds! Really loved to watch the video! It’s really an experience of its own! Will go through your record list, I’m pretty sure there are some new rabbit holes to dig even deeper into …. Enjoy your new records! Greetings, Jens
Hej Jens! Glad you liked the video, and hope you find some new music you like. It was a wonderful trip and it was fun to put together a video about it. Cheers!
Nice video.. i've been waiting for this video.. finally :) I love that Mazzy Star lp.. i met the band in the back of their bus in Seattle in 1994 the day before Cobain's body was discovered.. crazy time..
Thanks Piper! Sounds like crazy times. Too bad you couldn't get the July single. But you have the LP, right?
@@vinylstockholm I do have the US Stereo July and a Mexican Mono July.. no UK though.. one day..
Looks like you had a great weekend Jonas. And you met Steve Davis, wow. Lovely unusual Psych albums. You did really well with the singles. I've been looking for the Testcard ep for a long time. Cheers Mike 👍
Hi Mike! Yes, it was a great weekend, lots of fun. And it was cool to meet Steve, really nice guy. I love to collect singles so I was very happy when I found that seller, I could have bought more, but it was Sunday and I spent my last money there. Cheers!
Man I think I would have fainted walking through the doors at that fair!! To be amongst all that vinyl would put me in freak out mode. Your travelogue was way cool. Thanks for taking me along. I’ve now added new lps to my want list! See you in the grooves! 🖖🚀Rik
Haha, I would love to see you go into "freak out mode". Yes, it was mind blowing for sure. Thanks for tuning in Rik!
Hej Jonas! Yes, had a great time every evening, partying, especially seing Faust live. But I don't know that I can recommand that, as it took my body more than a week to fully recover ^^
Haha! I was really impressed how fresh you looked after those nights out! And Faust live was a big miss for me.
Thanks for this video of this big fair. Wish I was there. Shall try or buy Rocking horse. Sure you have heard Some velvet morning by Vanilla Fudge.....takecare
Hi Hasse! Yes, I think you would like Rockin' Horse. There are many cool covers of Some velvet morning, I have to listen to Vanilla Fudges's version. Thanks for recommending. Cheers!
Ha ha that's Steve Davis! He was one of the most famous sportsmen in Britian in the eighties! His 85 final finished at 1AM & 15 million people were still watching on TV!my dad let me stay up to watch it 😅 I love Flying Nun, but tough to find. I found a Razorcuts 12" on Flying Nun UK last week Brilliant video fellah hopefully may bump into you next year.
Haha, thanks for the info. I don't think I realized what a legend I had lunch with. He was just the coolest guy, he plays electronic music in a band now. Yes, Flying Nun is impossible to find here in Sweden as well, but I was lucky in Den Bosch. I didn't know Razorcuts released on Flying Nun, very cool. Great band! Would love to meet up if you go there some day. Cheers!
Great report back, amazing finds.
Many thanks!
