Do you know anything about the fuses? My 1250 has two fuses and what I've read one did the pto and one did the lights. My pto won't engage so I'm wondering if it's a bad guide but don't know what one does the pto.

I am an old mechanic. I have been working on tapered axles for close to 60 years. I have 2 suggestions, when installing the hub., buff the shaft taper and the tapered bore real good. Do a test fit of your hub to see, fit well .install the key after the hub is on, you might have to file the key and the broach-way some to get it to slide into the keyway. Make sure that the taper of the key faces down and toward the differential. Tap it in now. Putting the key in first and then trying to slide the hub onto the shaft. It's possibly to slide the key up too far the ramp, causing the hub to crack. Install the washer and nut. Torque 145# Install cotter pin,

I'm a sucker for hunting vintage iron, but when the previous owner tells me it's been sitting for multiple decades and I go out to see that nature is trying to reclaim its yummy metal parts, my wallet starts screaming in my pocket. I start looking at how much metal is left and just bypass the fluid tanks, knowing they're full of contaminated and questionable fluids that have seeped in over the years to determine if I want to fall into the rescue trap again. At least you picked one that will be easier to find parts for! No one tells you these things til it's too late, but finding unique mechanic wunderkinds are definitely double bladed weapons for your sanity. They are cool and unique, but if you're not into reinventing parts that may not have ever existed elsewhere, it's a nightmare to work on them. Just got done fabricating a clutch disc for an '86 Toro that it seems most of the parts were discontinued in 2005. Came out great, and thankfully most everything else is something you can bodge together from hardware store supplies like bars and springs, but those one-off parts are Always problems to solve. Part of the fun (read: insanity) if you will.

Best thing for these 152 - 196 engines are to do a gasket match for exhaust and intake and valve job , get rid of any sharp edges in the oil and water passages ....mind that if your doing a rebuild or like me and want a smother flowing engine.
