Nice find. I have a 1976 1000 that I scored at an auction for $70.00. It probably sat as long as this one did in a barn. I had it running and driving within a couple of days of getting it home. Mine has the 44A rotary mower on it, and I am currently working on restoring it. It has definitely been a fun quarantine project.
I'm a sucker for hunting vintage iron, but when the previous owner tells me it's been sitting for multiple decades and I go out to see that nature is trying to reclaim its yummy metal parts, my wallet starts screaming in my pocket. I start looking at how much metal is left and just bypass the fluid tanks, knowing they're full of contaminated and questionable fluids that have seeped in over the years to determine if I want to fall into the rescue trap again. At least you picked one that will be easier to find parts for! No one tells you these things til it's too late, but finding unique mechanic wunderkinds are definitely double bladed weapons for your sanity. They are cool and unique, but if you're not into reinventing parts that may not have ever existed elsewhere, it's a nightmare to work on them. Just got done fabricating a clutch disc for an '86 Toro that it seems most of the parts were discontinued in 2005. Came out great, and thankfully most everything else is something you can bodge together from hardware store supplies like bars and springs, but those one-off parts are Always problems to solve. Part of the fun (read: insanity) if you will.
Nice! I love those quiet line Cubs. Long time ago my brother and I restored a 1250. I myself own a 129 hydrostatic I restored back in 2016 and 2019 I bought a beautiful Cub Lo-Boy 154
I purchased a 1000 quietline for $150. I put a used 12 hp aqs upgrade and ran it for over 12 years mowing. The motor needs rebuilding and I picked up a used 14 hp aqs to swap it out. These are awesome tractors.
Do you know anything about the fuses? My 1250 has two fuses and what I've read one did the pto and one did the lights. My pto won't engage so I'm wondering if it's a bad guide but don't know what one does the pto.
Congratulations on your Cub Cadet. Currently I have two {107, 682} and looking at possibly acquiring another 682 which would make three. The Firestone tires are probably the original tires and I m not sure if the front tires are original but a very good possibility that they were. The chattering noise was the starter solenoid having bad connection issues probably from dirty connections at the terminals as you were probably all aware. I have experienced that sound many times over the past several years - So I felt your pain. As far as the clutch issue, The clutch spring on the Cub Cadets would break which would result in a similar situation to what you’re Cub was exhibiting in the video. Unfortunately, Both of my Cubs are hydrostatic- So I can’t be of much help specifically regarding your clutch issue. There are several Cub Cadet groups on Facebook in which cover several different areas. Thanks for sharing your experience here on TH-cam. Best Regards From Versailles, Ky.
You should get the old sears, and the disker that you flipped into the weeds, those old garden tractors are tough little things. I have a 1200 cub and a 1650 I’m trying to get up and running. Looking forward to seeing more updates on this tractor!
The clutch is probably rusted and stuck to the two pressure plates causing the gears to grind (something you DON'T want to do). Take it apart and fix it right. It will last another 20 years! Best of luck with your 1000! They're a great machine to have.
You need to find a mower deck for this cub. It would make her worth a lot more. You don't need a race mower that is a tremendous waste of a good mower.
Revive that SEARS tractor. Get a GO-PRO camera and a tripod. Most of the time we are looking at tires, and not what you’re working on. Good luck. Do it, bc you enjoy it.
I’ve seen those things climb logging roads in West Virginia almost straight up and then turn around and come back because the log came undone and it only had a 4 cyclinder and by the way I’m talking about the scout my bad
cmon dude if your going to be on youtube learn how to operate a camera,i saw more of the ground and side of machine then what you were doing, no way am i going to subscribe to that crap
Nice to see a young man with a good work ethic and determination to get it done good job.
Great work, glad to see younger folks making it happen.
Awesome find. Old Cubs never die. I was excited to hear that Cub fire up.

Which auctiona did you get it off of? Ive been looking for some new projects and cant find anything on facebook marketplace
Great job sir! I love to see them brought back to life.
If your camera was focused on your job, it would make a much better show.

Nice looking Scout. Dad had 1 with a 304 in it for years. That thing was a tank.

Well done kid, I really wanted to see you get that going so bad, now I'm late starting work. Lol

I like these older tractors
I suggest a few lesson from Mustie.

Do you have a nice helmet to wear after you get it started?
I have that’s 47 or 48 years old and it works perfectly. It’s a cub cadet 73
I have a couple of those quite line series cubcadets and one of them Is a cubcadet 1000

I would take both those but I just don’t have the room. The IH was pushing it as is but had to have it. Good luck with your tractors. Thank you

Black motor usually indicates Factory or warranty replacement

Nice find! I just recently bought a 1250 that’s been sitting outside. Great mechanical condition, looks terrible cosmetically..
I just don't know what I'm doing.I never had one until now and I need help
That craftsman looks like a wheel horse.
You may not want it now but SHE may not want it in a year or two.
Cover it back up
You should put your phone on a tri-pod.
Are u sure one of the side panels go for 7500
Your clutch disks are stuck
How about a nice small block Chevy? Or a 289 might fit......
Would you like to come help me with mine?
That thing has not been setting there 20 years. Maybe two bylooking at the paint.
I like the tractor but you are moving the camera around so much it's making me sick!!!
Look you have a bad connection or dead battery
