So I weasted about 4 hours of my time today just troubleshooting why a simple 8 then 12 cylinder 1x1 modular engine kept overheating. Short of it is, even below 15 RPS it would often reach 120* after 5 minutes or so of driving my simple starter workshop sized boat build. I tried using large pumps for both coolant in/out and 2 different coolant loops on differing banks of cylinders, but no real difference (yes, flow was 250+ L/s so that shouldn't be it). Tried 3x3 electric fan radiators submerged in water and just seawater in/out (works like magic with small prefab engines). Finally the only way I got it to not overheat over a full tank of medium sized fuel for 15 minutes was to run it at 12 RPS - sub optimal because that means, adding more cylinders to my build and gearing up to keep RPS at ~12 in order to achieve practical sailing speeds (20 knots is not real life friendly for the distances missions can be mid game). Basically, the engine stays at ~ 95*C at 12 rps and that's all I got after wasting so much time. I didn't bother with a 3rd coolant loop. as even their own "Preset" 1x1 modular engine easily exceeds 95*C if left running. Pretty frustrating way to spend my weekend play time. Ah well it is Stormworks after all.

So I'm having a problem with my ROV where it is not neutrally buoyant unless it has no batteries. I don't know how to fix this issue, and I'm wondering, what did you do to make your ROV neutrally buoyant with batteries.

PSA for the PSA: cat converters are directional. I spent several hours banging my head against a wall wondering why my engine was choking out on my recent RHIB despite release valves, a couple fuel line redesigns, testing and retesting and testing retests of my engine setup and ECU to finally look at the cat to find the exhaust was built up… pulled a pipe off the end leading into it of it and sure enough: “Exhaust Out”. X_x Part of this is because I haven’t played in some time. When I stopped, exhaust was bugged and nothing produced smoke. Didn’t even occur to me that they’ve fixed it and this might the problem. The other part is that I simply forgot cats were directional and didn't check it when initially building the exhaust.

It'd be an interesting addition if the Dev's added a requirement to bait our crab pods with the fish we catch.

Also, for people here struggling with cooling... if you have a setup with a radiator, and your engine is overheating, it is simply because the load on your engine is too high. The LOAD on the engine is what cause most of the heat. If it happens, reduce the gearing ratio... iff it still overheat at a low gear setup, add a cylinder to your engine... until it stops overheating. I have small engine not overheating at 30 rps... but you need to keep the load reasonable (like in real life..)

Thanks for the video, but I have to say that it's a bit rough to follow, because you made it with the assumption that we've watched your boat tutorial video. I haven't and I don't really want to go watch that when I want to build a car instead. So, while this is supposed to be a "beginner" video, you're kind of breezing through it, not really explaining what you're doing along the way, so I have to keep pausing the video and searching by myself for example how you rotate the pieces, how to delete pieces, and then to get the microcontroller done, which I guess I have to watch the other video for. A beginner tutorial video is much less frustrating when you make it with the assumption that this is the first video that a viewer watches.

I can save you 20 minutes.. It's awful. The tutorial is non existent. Finding answers is impossible because all of the answers are 5 years old and not relevant to the current build. Career is just a mess. The devs have ZERO clue how to optimize a game as this game wont take full advantage of your CPU and GPU. Spawn a boat too big or with too many lights and it will literally slow your sim speed down even if you're running the best of the best PC. Don't waste your money on it get space engineers or something else instead.
