    i never thought about adding weight even to the base of a compact linear track this helps ALOT thank you so much

    I discovered this accidentally years ago during an NJ build challenge and its been one the core strategies I have used ever since. More weight can actually fix a lot of issues around top speed but its important to note that wheels gain no real traction from extra weight so if you want to make a strong crane mobile it is a balancing act

    I had struggle with it when making hydrofoil boat with extendable foils. When i make 3 rudders(simple 3x1 rudders) on a extendable leg (with piston or slider) no matter how steep was angle of the rudders they can't lift a boat out of the water, but when i replaced extandable piston with rigid pipe it instaltly start throwing boat out of the water, and after correction it worked fine.
    Somehow physics calculate joints wrong and calculate transfering force based on relative masses of these elements without acknowledging how rigid is joint and which directions it can't be moved.
    For example ship moving forward 30 m/s - hydrofoil rudders create lifting force for example 10 N (real dimensions doesn't matter because it is a game, however can be measured in Newtons).
    If hydrofoil subgrid weights 20kg and main grid - ship itself weights 1000kg then upward force that hydrofoil will transfer will be force*(m1/m2) or 10*(20/1000) = 0.2 N
    No matter how rigid joint is - it is always act like 2 object colliding in space. So when joint apply a force - this force apply to both grids with force depending on its relatives masses to each other.
    Also i think ingame such things as pivots, sliders, etc apply some force in chosen direction to stay intact - like what you seen slider was pulled out of the rail - pivot force and force that tries to hold slider intact fight each other

    while you kinda brushed it, this is true for Suspension wheels as well. well any part with multiple bodies while obvious in the joints and pivots but suspension pieces too.
    One more note id like to add is, there is a sub body hierarchy. under most circumstances the game handle handling it fine but if you get a lot cut and pasting you wreck that and end up with primary red body on crane arm and no amount of weight will save it till the hierarchy is fixed.

    Literally exactly the video i was looking for, also, can you PLEASE make a video explaining nuclear power in storworks. I understand it in its real form but i dont really know where to start with the games mechanics

    I haven’t tried to make a truck or anything in a long time. Have they made it to where the tires grip better yet? Would adding a lot of weight to the vehicles help the grip?

    thanks for the fix! but i still think stormworks physics need a DEEP rework, even looking at the crappy wheel, joints physics, etc
