Vintage Simulations
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 10 ต.ค. 2022
I'm trying out many different airplanes in various simulators (mainly MSFS). The focus is on vintage airplanes, interesting new releases and a lot of aerobatic flying. I hope you enjoy the videos, feedback on how to improve them or what airplanes or locations you would like to see, is always welcome.
A short hop in the Cessna 400 Corvalis TT - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Today we're taking the Cessna 400 Corvalis TT up for a short hop from EDFE Egelsbach to EDGP Oppenheim. The Cessna 400 is a nice alternative to the Cirrus SR22, both are powered by the same engine and have similar avionics. But the Cessna has a higher service ceiling, a higher cruise speed and a bit longer range and in my opinion, it is also a much prettier airplane.
The Cessna 400 was developed by Carenado and as usual the visual model is absolutely stunning, both on the in- and outside. The sounds are quite good too, but maybe on the quiet side. The flight model feels appropriate, it feels modern and is very easy to fly, it is a very nice cruiser and perfect for travelling fast.
Overall, I’m quite happy with the Corvalis and I’m sure it’ll be one of my go to planes for shorter A-B flights.
When it comes to the new sim, it is running better and better. Over the last two-three days I got into the game without any issues with very fast loading times. Since yesterday I also didn’t notice a single low bandwidth message. Not only visually, but also when it comes to systems complexity, flight models and ground handling MSFS 2024 is far superior to MSFS 2020. But I can’t deny that there still are plenty of bugs that need to be fixed. Just a few minor examples you might notice when watching this video are that custom registrations won’t show. A single engine aircraft of the Cessna’s weight class would be registered “D-EXXX” in the sim all four letters behind the D are random. Another example is that parked aircraft seem to disappear all the time or change every time you look away and at small grass strips, you’ll often find inappropriate aircraft like business jets. Compared to some other bugs these are very minor, but it would still be great if they got fixed.
I hope you enjoy this video. Thanks for watching!

Draco X - Low Level Fun Around Monument Valley - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
มุมมอง 1.4K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today we're having some low-level fun around Monument Valley in Mike Patey’s awesome Draco X. Like the Grumman Albatross Draco X is another aircraft I was very excited about, when it was announced for the MSFS 2024 lineup. I’m a huge fan of Mike Patey and have been watching all his videos about the build of Scrappy and the original Draco and can’t wait to watch him build Draco X. Another reason...
First look at the Grumman HU-16 Albatross - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
มุมมอง 5K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Today we're finally taking a look at the first aircraft in MSFS2024. I’m sure most of you will be aware that the launch of the sim sadly was a total disaster, with most people being stuck in loading screens or flights not loading properly. According to Steam I had about 12 hours in MSFS2024 yesterday evening, of these 12 hours only 20-30 min were actual flying time! Which is why I told myself I...
Captain Sim SPAD S.XIII - Aerobatic Display over Harvey Field - Microsoft Flight Simulator
มุมมอง 760หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we're taking Captain Sim's new SPAD S.XIII up for an aerobatic display over ORBX's fantastic S43 Harvey Field scenery. The SPAD is the first release of Captain Sim's new WWI Collection. Something I'm really looking forward to, since I always had a soft spot for WWI planes and they are very underrepresented in MSFS at the moment. Overall, the visual model and the textures are very nicely d...
Great Freeware Sea Fury - Aerobatics over NZA Simulations Wanaka Region - Microsoft Flight Simulator
มุมมอง 3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I was positively surprised when I saw the release trailer of NZA Simulations’ Wanaka Region yesterday evening. It’s scenery I was really looking forward to, as Wanaka is of course famous for its warbird airshow and being the old home of the Tim Wallis Collection. While I was searching for a suitable aircraft to explore Wanaka, DSD_Simulations released this awesome freeware Hawker Sea Fury…one o...

Today we're taking the fantastic new freeware Grumman J2F Duck by flyndrive up for some low level fun around Fantasy of Flight (another awesome freeware). The aircraft is a full native conversion of Paul Domingue's FSX Duck, including many modifications and updates, like improved modelling, flight model and sounds. And as if one freeware Duck wouldn't be enough, the package actually includes th...

Today we’re taking the brand-new Focke Wulf FW 190 A-8 by FlyingIron up for its first aerobatic display over Heringsdorf. It’s the airplane I most anticipated since the release of FlyingIrons Bf-109, as all four previous releases by them are among my absolute favorite airplanes in the sim and the Focke Wulf is, like Spitfire and Messerschmitt, one of my favorite airplanes in real life. Today we’re taking Flight Replicas Spitfire Mk.V Trop up for a sunset aerobatic display over Duxford. Flight Replicas recently released flight model updates for their Spitfire Mk.I, Mk.V and Mk.V Trop that greatly improved the handling qualities. I hope you won't get tired of yet another Spitfire video, but yesterday I flew around with it at Duxford when the sun started to set and it was just t...

Today we're taking Captain Sim's Lockheed C-130E Hercules up for an aerobatic display over ORBX's fantastic Tweed-New Haven scenery. I've always been fascinated by big transport airplanes being thrown around at airshows. Today we’re taking another look at Aeroplane Heaven’s Razorback P-47 and take it up for a short low level aerobatic display over Westport Airport. The reason for another video is, that the P-47 received a completely new sound set from Echo 19, who are also responsible for the fantastic F-86, F-35 and B-2 sound sets. Today we're taking the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 up for an early evenening aerobatic display in DCS. Flying Iron Simulations Fw-190 A-8 for MSFS is the upcoming aircraft I’m currently most excited about and I thought the best way to shorten the waiting time until the release would be to spend some time in the DCS one. Today we're taking SimWorks Studios brand-new Vans RV-8 up for a fun flight around Monument Valley. It’s an airplane I’ve been anticipating ever since its announcement, as I’ve been a fan of SWS’s RV-10 & RV-14 for a long time but prefer the seat arrangement of the RV-8. In short it was worth the wait, the RV-8 is fantastic. And for the prize an absolute steal. As it includes 8 variants. The tr...

Amazing vídeo, and one of my favorite piston fighters. Superb Bristol Centaurus Sound.
As a RC pilot the external views are of interest to me. Using a joystick and rudder peddles flying the Draco aerobatically from the ground might be great fun!!!
Too bad the real plane and its replica were a death trap.
Nice video! Did they change the reverse thrust to an axis in 2024? TY!
Very good showcase for an amazing aircraft! I flew the Albatross countless hours in FSX and am awestruck by the job Mike Johnson has done with it. And kudos to the pilot for showing us how great this classic can handle. Looks like 2024 has me sold!
Thanks for the vid, i'm trying to find out take off and landing speeds. So 70kn rotate and 70kn approach, 60kn flare?
I understand that the update has improved things greatly. I'm interested in your take on it. I'm still gonna give it a couple more weeks before I go for it. I've got the RTX 3060, i7, and 12 gigs of VRAM. I'm hoping for amazing graphics.
16:16 how do you get this videos? Do you record your video, play it, and record this scene?
Thanks for the updated video. Was disappointed with the p51 sound and decided against the p47 for the same reason. I am excited for better audio and just purchased the Jug
Pretty sweet plane, glad you enjoyed it :)
Your comment just made my day! I’m a big fan since you started building Draco =) Can’t wait to watch your build videos of Draco X and I’m also excited to see what you’ll do with your new Albatross. It’s another awesome plane =)
How did you put the smoke?
You can turn the smoke on by pushing the button at the top of the stick =)
Nice plane, I'm very impressed with the level of detail of the Asobo planes in FS2024, even the 152 looks much better than in FS2020. The sound package also convinces me. Oppenheim also looks quite acceptable. It's a shame that the sound of the flyby videos is strangely quiet, it seemed much more realistic to me in FS2020. Maybe that will be fixed too. Were the flybys recorded with the integrated recorder?
Sorry for the late response! Me too, the level of detail is amazing! I just tried the H-125 for the first time, you can open all the engine covers and the level of detail on the engine is ridiculous! Overall, in terms of systems depth, flight modeling, ground handling and sounds the new sim is truly incredible. Yeah, I think the flyby sounds vary from each aircraft, some sound a bit better than others. It seems that the C-400 is one of the quieter ones. I used the integrated recorder for the replays but set up the showcase camera for the flybys. I have to play around with the flyby function of the integrated recorder a bit more, but I believe you can't change the camera position.
Piece of junk, flies like junk.
I love it, it's one of my favorite aircraft in the new sim. I know the performance feels unbelievable, but that's how the real aircraft performs. Here is a video of Mike Patey describing the planned changes between Draco X and his original Draco with plenty of footage of him flying Draco, you'll see the real aircraft is just as crazy =) th-cam.com/video/jX6ZwDcLACA/w-d-xo.html
Nice flight! You have sparked my curiosity in the 400. Thanks, -Mike
Hey Mike, thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video =) I just saw in my feed that you already uploaded a video with the 400. I'm looking forward to watching it! Cheers, Fabian
@@vintagesimulations I kind of like this plane. Carenado was never a favorite of mine but this stands out. I remember when I was a student pilot there was one at the airport and I gave it close look while drooling. Fast, with fixed gear! Kind of like the Cirrus SR22.
@@FlightSimVRDad Glad to hear you like it too =) There are a few Carenado planes I really like, like for example the Gee Bees, Staggerwing and Beech 18 (especially with the Denarq mod), but I think I know what you mean, they are often eye candy with no depth, and sometimes a bit strange flight model behind them. It's a stunning plane! I don't think I have ever seen one in the flesh yet. To me it's a far prettier design compared to the Cirrus. We've got plenty of Cirrus at our airfield and I'm sure they are fantastic aircraft and would love to try one someday, but to me they always look like someone was holding in a fart for too long.
@@vintagesimulations lol on the holding in a fart too long... I love that one! I saw a Cirrus in the air a couple days ago. Very recognizable from below. I am waiting for the Duckworks DC-3 mod! I created a video this morning at Duxford in the P-38 and while the P-38 might need some mods for 2024, I think it was more a matter of me needing to get current on it. Duxford looks great in 2024 except for the lighted runway which I do not think exists in real life there. I want to post the Duxford video tomorrow. As my comfort level and knowledge of 2024 increases so does my enjoyment level. 👍
@@FlightSimVRDad Haha, yeah it is very recognizable and to be fair to it the big 6-cylinder Continental engine sounds fantastic. The Duckworks mod is great, I also hope it'll come to the new sim. Looking forward to the Lightning video =) I've yet to install my addons in MSFS2024, it'll be interesting how many will work out of the box. Do you use the stock Duxford scenery or is the 2020 freeware working in 2024? Fully agree, I enjoy the new sim more and more, especially the new flight dynamics and ground physics are so much better. I hope to get at least one more video out this week, but I'm not sure if I'll find the time =/
Great video man. I always thought the SR22T was turbo normalized, not boosted like the Corvalis?
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) You could be right. I always thought they used the same turbocharged Continental TSIO-550. I just did some research, apparently the Corvalis TT uses a TSIO-550-C and the SR22T is powered by a TSIO-550-K. From what I read both engines are equipped with two turbochargers, but I couldn't find a lot of information on the TSIO-550-C.
You Sir are a true aviator!!! I enjoyed this clip so much that I can't wait for the next and the next. Big thumbs up from one of your growing subscribers. 👍👍👍
Thank you very much for your very kind words! I really appreciate that =)
How can you get this aircraft?
It is part of the Deluxe Edition of MSFS2024. But it is my understanding that once the Marketplace gets activated in the new sim, owners of the Standard edition can purchase single aircraft of the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions.
@ oh nice, the plane seems great, I’m looking forward to get this and the Beechcraft Model 18. Thanks!
@@Icaruj It is, the Albatross is currently my favorite plane in the sim, alongside Draco. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it =) The Beech 18 hasn't shown up in my sim yet, but it was very good in MSFS2020, especially with the Denarq mod, I really hope he'll bring the mod to the new sim too.
looks nice. I used to lfy these all the time in Air Hauler with FSX & P3D - the Alphasim/Virtavia model with the excellent sounds from Milton Shupe's model. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in it in FS2024 now - especially if Neofly is ported over to give me some good local jobs to fly.
It is fantastic. In my opinion it is one of the best planes in MSFS 2024 and the best depiction of an Albatross in any sim so far. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it =) It might even be featured in the career mode of the sim, but I haven't tried it yet.
Muy buen vídeo 🎉
Muchas gracias =)
this arcraft flight model feel like f-16 fbw
I know it feels unrealistic, but that is how the real Draco flew. Here is a great video from Mike Patey (the designer & builder of Draco) describing the planned changes between Draco and Draco X with a lot of real world footage of Draco, as you can see the real one is just as crazy 😆 th-cam.com/video/jX6ZwDcLACA/w-d-xo.html
Another excellent vid. mate. I am also looking forward to getting to play with this little beast as I love the Wilga :). I just wanted to ask if I could, which flight controls you use, or indeed would recommend for someone who is not quite ready to go bankrupt for their hobby, I'm currently using a t flight hotas one x without pedals that I got virtually unused for £20 on fb marketplace and it's fine, although the throttle seems a little imprecise. Keep up the great work, Cheers 👍
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed this one as well =) I'm sure you're going to enjoy Draco, Got Friends have done an amazing job with it! It's awesome that we now almost have the whole Wilga family represented in the sim =) I upgraded my equipment about 1,5 - 2 years ago and now use a Hotas Warthog Stick, a Logitech Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant and Saitek Pro Flight Rudder pedals (with broken brakes I have yet to get around to fixing). I found all of them in almost new condition on Ebay. Before I used an old Saitek Cyborg Evo stick I got when I was around 12 years old 😅 (without rudder pedals and extra throttle quadrant). Rudder pedals make for a more realistic experience, but I think a twist-stick is more than enough to have fun in the simulator and you can control the aircraft just as well. The reason I switched was to get closer to a real world flying experience and because I noticed your hand would cramp up a bit when using the twist-stick for rudder inputs which has a bad influence on real world flying, when flying a real plane you want to keep your hands as relaxed as possible.
Another great video...!!! What an amazing plane, MSFS 2024 looks very good.
Thank you very much =) Glad you enjoyed this one as well. Yeah, Got Friends did an amazing job with Draco, it's just as crazy as the real one =) I agree and it's performing better every day.
In terms of the sim looking good, if you choose to start from this airport, but don’t get in the plane and instead go for a walk toward the closest mesa (the one you can see from the cockpit in this video, you will see, just before you get to the part that is too steep to climb, piles of the most ridiculously detailed boulders you are likely to ever see in a sim. They are not flight sim scenery-they are first person shooter scenery. And they’re just there-strewn around among he debris at the base of a mesa in the middle of the desert. Admittedly in a very scenic area where people are likely to want to fly, and where it would make sense to put extra effort into making the ground look good, but still!
@@jasonlescalleet5611 yeah, the level of detail in the new sim is amazing! Now that the sim is running reliably and the scenery is loading properly it blows my mind every time I use it =)
Really nice video, and thank you for producing this and the feedback given. On to my next project!
I'm glad you like the video, thank you =) And above all, thank you for the awesome aircraft you have done a wonderful job! Can't wait to see what your next project will be =) Btw the Auster is fantastic too, I hope Asobo will be able to fix the missing pilot issue soon.
Great job all around, piloting, editing, all of it. Thank you. This is the plane I'm most looking forward to, and you gave the best demo out there. I'll wait a few more weeks, give them a chance to work out more of the kinks. I'm curious about your fps during this flight. You were snapping maneuvers pretty quick there and it sure looked smooth.
Thank you very much for your kind words! I really appreciate that. Draco was also one of the aircraft I was most looking forward to and I'm sure you're not going to be disappointed. Got Friends have done an incredible job. Yeah, it might be a good idea to wait a few weeks. Having said that the sim has already improved quite dramatically since the release on Tuesday. I'll have to check the fps the next time I take Draco for a spin, but I think I was at around 50-ish fps.
@@vintagesimulations The vitriol upon release was quite disheartening and quite telling, unfortunately. I have no gamer mentality. I just want to fly. You're cool, VS. I hope you're wildly successful.
@@StrGzr101 The launch was quite frustrating and I have to admit I was close to giving up and going back to 2020 until the game is fixed, but I'm glad I stuck to it. Yes, there are still many bugs, but overall, you can already tell that it is a much better simulator than 2020. Not just the visuals got improved, but the aircraft have a ton of new features you won't find on many study level 2020 aircraft, the ground handling, water handling and flight models have also been dramatically improved. I can understand the frustration of a lot of people (being one of them initially), but I think many people don't give the sim a fair chance, have jumped on the bandwagon or have given up too early. Like you I just want to fly and enjoy the aircraft and I think in a few weeks when most of the bugs are fixed this will be the best sim for it =) That's very kind, thank you! I'm grateful for every new viewer, and would love for the channel to grow even more, but as long as there is somebody out there who enjoys my videos or gets any use out of them, I'm happy =) ...And I should add the channel is already much bigger than I could have ever hoped for ;)
Nice area to fly especially with sunset.
I agree! Thought it would be a fun location to try out Draco =)
*rettungsflieger intro plays* no, but seriously, really well shot! looks amazing! One question though, where did you get this livery? I’d like to maybe recreate some scenes with it so any help would be appreciated :D
Haha 😆 Thank you very much! Glad you like it =) If I remember correctly the livery comes with the Huey 🤔 I think I made the video on the day of or the day after release, before there were any repaints available. I just found this SAR livery on flightsim.to, but it is slightly different: flightsim.to/file/76550/sar-bell-uh-1d-70-81
@@vintagesimulations alright, thank you so much! ^^

Wasn't the best time to cross a runway 😅
Nice flying! Who cleared that van across the runway when you were on short final?
Hahaha!
Thank you very much =) Haha yeah, I guess it wanted to be a convertible 😅
Finally a suitable outdoor tracking camera, that's something many have sorely missed, especially when creating such videos 🙏
For the flyby views I still used the showcase camera setting, like in MSFS2020. But I saw that the new in-game Flight Recorder also comes with its own Flyby camera =)
Great video and what a lovely aircraft! Thanks so much for showcasing it. I’ve flown the Goose for many miles on msfs 20 but found the instrumentation just a little too old. The Albatross seems just right though! I’ve not jumped in to ‘24 yet … thought I’d let the dust settle first. The Albatross will be the very first plane I’ll get into 😋 One worry I have will be broadband speed. I only get 30mbps from BT in UK and can’t get fibre till late next year ☹️ Thanks again. Pete.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video =) The Albatross is fantastic. It was the aircraft I was most excited about when the aircraft list for MSFS2024 was released and I'm very glad to say that so far, it's my favorite aircraft in the new sim, it is really well done. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it =) I think waiting for the dust to settle is a good decision. At the moment the game is still very unstable and so far, I was only able to play it relatively problem free at night...which isn't great if you have to work the next day 😅 But when it runs it definitely shows a lot of potential =) The broadband speed is also my biggest concern my internet is at 40-50mbps and as I said the game is currently very unstable. It'll be interesting how the game will perform once it is dialed in and all the current server issues are resolved. I think another big aspect that will hopefully change the game experience is the opening of the Marketplace (it's currently not available in 2024 yet). It's my understanding that we will be able to download the individual aircraft, textures, airports and world updates, instead of streaming them, which should help guys like us with slower internet connections. Thanks again for your kind words. Fabian
Hi Fabian, last evening I flew a circuit from Santa Barbara in the Alouette 3 I’m learning to fly in fs20 at the moment. The comparison between the vfr scenery in fs20 and that which your video showed in fs24 is truly amazing! I don’t think I can wait long to jump in to 24 as the joy of low and slow is why I fly. I was checking out Google Earth to see the area around Santa Barbara and noticed Cachuma lake up in the hills to the northwest. With the new scenery and the Albatross, that would certainly be a lovely flight to make😋 Best regards, Pete.
@@PeteWillmin Hi Pete, the Alouette is amazing, I can't wait to have it back in MSFS24 =) I forgot to mention that the airfield itself is the ORBX version for 2020, some addons from the 2020 marketplace have already been added to 2024. But nonetheless I agree that the surrounding area has been improved a lot. That should be a great location for the Albatross, I'm going to check the lake out later =) Best regards, Fabian
Great video, great content. My only let down is the water texturing effect. Nothing against you, but I was enjoying the video immensely until you landed on the water and I saw the poor texturing job of the water effect. Hopefully Asobo will get that fixed soon or a third party modder can fix it.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) Yeah, I'm also disappointed about the water effect and was considering cutting the external view out of the video, in the end I decided against it to showcase the current state of the sim. The strange thing is I could swear on a previous flight the squares weren't there and the water spray effects actually looked great. But since then, they appear on every flight. Like you said, let's hope Asobo or a modder will be able to fix it soon =)
I use the Tobii eye tracker, sadly this is broken too, every time I try to adjust it using the hardware settings button the sim crashes to desktop.......................................
That's a shame! Hopefully that gets fixed soon.
Hi Tobii already has a workaround for this. Just search "Tobii crashing MSFS 2024" you should see a link from official Tobii on how to fix this!
Please do an cap 10 for msfs 2024, the stock one is terrible
That would be awesome! I'm sure F7 Simulations would do the Cap justice.
Very nicely flow, Cap'n!!
Thank you very much =)
I've seen a few questions re throttle position on start. For start roll the throttle fully to the left to the stop, then roll it back to where it came from, but it won't go all the way to cut off as there's an electromagnetic spring loaded poppet and stepped cam setup to prevent shut down during flight. Hold start for 40 seconds or 40% N1 whichever comes first then release. In real life voltage is checked prior to this, should have 28VDC, it's checked when pulling the trigger. It must not fall below 24volts and should begin to climb within a few seconds, not fall lower. Watch EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) Momentary over temps are ok.. I cannot remember details for that. If voltage were to "Hang " or fall lower the start should be aborted, maintain starter and roll throttle to cutoff, hold starter for a few seconds to cool the turbine. 40 seconds or 40% N1 release start.. In life it's left there while many checks and tests are done, IE Inverter for AC to drive AI etc It usually takes a few minutes at idle. This also stabilizes internal engine temperatures. Then increase SLOWLY to full throttle and this is where it stays during flight, (the knobby section of the throttle is actually used to increase friction of the throttle, not lock it, but just make sure it's not easily reduced) Oh and prior to start the GOV button should be held in DEC for 8 to 10 seconds.... This will result the dual tacho at 6000 at full throttle after start. Then touch INC a sec at a time and slowly increase to 6600 (Known as six six) for flight. Things change, temperatures and altitudes pressure etc... this is what the beep range is for. For what it's worth if EGT is above 100C you shouldn't start the engine, (prolly not a problem in the sims) however if the fan is becoming contaminated, I'm sure this is ignored.... as would the high temps during the start.
Sorry for the late response! I can't thank you enough for the detailed startup description! The startup is much more complex than I thought. I can't wait to try the procedure in the simulator.
@@vintagesimulations That's ok mate, sorry I may have got a little carried away with my explanation, and it may not be 100% correct.. I haven't touched a Huey in almost 30 years and was never a pilot, just a spanner swinger.. I do have a few hours as co pilot and nothing ever gets better than taking control of a Huey... even if it's just straight and level. It will depend on the sim as to what actually happens, I've watched a few vids where a Huey takes off with fuel gauges maxed at 1600 pounds when actually full mains is 1375 pounds. Also burn rate is 600 pound per hour.. I'm just picky in old age. Todays useless piece of information is the fact there is 4 fuel pumps in a Huey, 2 electric and 2 jet pumps (venturi) Have fun flying.
@@SerialDelta Thank you again for the great information! I really appreciate that. I've been an aviation enthusiast all my life and have been helping out at the local airport from time to time for over ten years now, working on mostly your average GA planes, but also some special planes like a Stearman, Focke Wulf Stieglitz, Christen Eagle, Beech 18 or once even on a Grumman Avenger. I'm always excited to learn from people who work or have worked on the real deal and grateful for every insight I can get =) Working on and getting to fly the Huey must have been something very special, it's such an iconic aircraft! I think there is nothing wrong with pointing out inaccuracies in the sim, hopefully it can help in creating a more realistic representation of the aircraft. Thanks again for your great comments!
@@vintagesimulations No problem mate, I think getting into SIM is like a brain exercise and heaps for fun that puzzles. I'd have loved to become a pilot but a few screws came loose re my health.. 2024 has brought an old mate and I back together, he was same as me but did become a pilot. We're looking fwd to flying bug smashers to places we'll never see in real life.. I wish you all the best with an aircraft future and remember the best saying, "It's better to be down here wishing I was up there, than to be up there wishing I was down here"
@@SerialDelta I agree, the sim is fantastic for exploring places you wouldn't otherwise get to and to experience airplanes you would never get the chance to fly in real life. Thank you so much =) That's a great saying to take to heart.
Awesome! Although I hate to be that guy: the fuselage looks a lot more rounded than I think it should be. It's giving a bit of uncanny valley. But it looks and sounds absolutely beautiful otherwise.
Comparing pictures, I think you might be right. The sim version is slightly fatter.
it looks nice.. but coming from rise of flight, I really miss parts falling off and wings cracking and breaking.
Haha yeah, you can at least add bulletholes to the CS Spad 😅But Rise of Flight is still the best Sim for WWI planes for sure. The flight models were fantastic!
Love the model!
Me too! The Spad is one of my favorite WWI planes.
Really happy I bought mine too! Definitely a fun little plane. Wondering what else will come in the collection, hoping for some German ones 😄 I noticed your pilot is different. How did you change it? Thanks.
Glad to hear you like it too =) Me too, there are so many great canidates I would love to see, like a Fokker Dr.I, D.VII, D.VIII, Albatros D.V, Sopwith Pup, Nieuport 28, SE5A, Pfalz D.VIII...just to name a few 😅 The pilot is part of Got Friends Aviator Valor package: www.got-friends.com/collections/avitars/products/avitar-valor I use them for pretty much all aircraft up to the late 40s =) You can swith the pilots in the menu under general options; misc; pilot.
I bought it today from the Captain Sim Store website and at first I was very skeptic because of the harsh reputation but instead I ended up very satisfied. The CS Spad is very enjoyable to fly including the engine sounds. The price is very reasonable too. I also bought the extra liveries from their website, I fell in ❤ with this cute little plane from my first take off. Hope in the near future Captain Sim will give us more of WWI aircraft ....maybe the full collection of WWI 🤗 ....Thanks for the video!
I'm glad to hear you like the SPAD too =) I agree it's very fairly priced. I also couldn't resist getting the extra liveries. I'm happy to say CS is planning to release more WWI planes 🙂On their forum they wrote: "To start a new and exciting line of products, we are happy to introduce the WWI Collection for MSFS." and later on: "The first installment of the WWI Collection is the SPAD S.XIII." I'm super excited about that, I always had a soft spot for WWI planes and can't wait to see what other planes they'll bring to the sim. My pleasure, glad you like it =)
That is super good news for me, I too have a softspot for WWI era aircraft ...we seem to speak the same language 🛩 ...I go and check their forum😀Thanks again!
@@OKtGCGOEM1SS we do 🛩 If you're into WWI plane I'm sure you'll enjoy these videos of Peter Jacksons airworthy WWI aircraft collection "The Vintage Aviator" 🙂His company restores and builds perfect reproductions of all kinds WWI planes, including authentic engines. th-cam.com/video/7gmZ9X9Aplk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Ef0sA1XihcA/w-d-xo.html And if you ever get the chance to see Mikael Carlson fly at an airshow near you it's an absolute must see. I really hope some (or all 😅) of these aircraft will be part of Captain SIms new collection =) Sorry for the many links...got a bit too excited 😅
Looks gorgeous!! Is it available on Xbox too or just pc?
@@markjohnstone2026 it's currently only available via the Captain Sim store or SimMarket, but I'm sure once it hits the marketplace it will be available on Xbox too =)
Such a shame this has a reputation to beat, it looks stunning. Such a shame Cpt Scam has built a rep on rip offs and poor quality. Really hoping this is a start of better things
I know that Captain Sim has quite a bad reputation, which is why I kept away from them for quite some time. But I have to say my first aircraft from them is the C-130E Hercules and I think it's fantastic. Yes, it's not study level, but all the important things work, the visual model is among the best I've seen in the sim, the flight model feels convincing and they have contracted Echo 19 to do a new soundset for them. The flight model and engine modeling of the Spad could use some tweaking and the wings are slightly too thick, but overall, especially for the price, it's quite good.
@vintagesimulations this is encouraging. Let's hope this trend continues and they regain their former quality. 🙂
@@batterby7675 yes, that would be great! I'm certainly looking forward to their new WWI Collection =)
the aileron animations are backwards, so not looking promising
@@kazzercise how did I miss that!?! You're right they are 😮
Another excellent video and display, I’m really impressed with the power from the Bristol Centaurus engine, enabling those huge loops. The aircraft that I would most like to see developed for MSFS 2024 is the de Havilland 103 Hornet / Sea Hornet. Captain Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown, the renowned WW2 test pilot, said of the aircraft, “in my book the Sea Hornet ranks second to none for harmony of control, performance characteristics and, perhaps most important, in inspiring confidence in its pilot. For sheer exhilarating flying enjoyment, no aircraft has ever made a deeper impression on me than did this outstanding filly from the de Havilland stable." Captain Brown enjoyed giving aerobatic displays with one engine feathered as a result of the very clean design. IMHO, not just a great aircraft for low level but a long distance tourer as well with excellent all round visibility.
Sorry for the late response! Thank you very much, I'm glad you like the video =) Yes, the Centaurus is a beast! Sadly, so far all Sea Furys I've seen live were fitted with either a Wright R-3350 or a P&W R-2800, but the performance was just as impressive and both engines sound great too. Yes! I would also love to see a De Havilland Hornet in the sim. Apart from being one of the most impressive performing aircraft of its time, I think it's also one of De Havilland's prettiest designs.
looks good!
I agree! Especially considering it's freeware, it's fantastic =)
Looking at your flight profile and technics, I assume you are a real life aviator. Awesome flying displays and cinematics.
Thank you very much for the nice compliment! I'm glad you like it =) I'm sadly not a real-life aviator yet. But hopefully in the not too distant future. I've been a lifelong warbird and airshow fan and pretty much life for vintage aviation and have been saving up for my private pilot’s license for the last few years. I'm also very fortunate to ground crew for friends with their Stearman, Focke Wulf Stieglitz, Cub and Christen Eagle and often get to be the "autopilot" from and to airshows and got quite a bit of stick time in plenty of GA aircraft over the years too =)
Best prop fighter ever build - i want this desperately on Xbox !!!!
Certainly among the very best and one of the best looking ones as well! Microsoft is working on a freeware section for the Marketplace, so hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it too in the not too distant future =)
Weirdly, having installed this it appears to load fine, all the controls do what they are supposed to, but it won't move, either on the ground or (if slewed up a few thousand feet) in the air either. Haven't seen this with any other paid or freeware FS2020 aircraft.
Hm that's very strange! I sadly don't have any idea how to solve this :/ Have you tried contacting the developer?
Fantastic, thx.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =)
I downloaded yesterday.... it's superb!
I'm glad you enjoy it too =)
Great video! But it’s a damn shame that Xbox flyers like me don’t get access to freeware like this.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) I agree that's a real shame. Microsoft has been talking about adding a freeware section to the Marketplace for quite a while now. Hopefully they'll implement it soon, so you guys can enjoy aircraft like the Sea Fury too!
Brilliant video thanks for posting this, I’ll certainly give this aircraft a try. One question, how do you get the spectator view camera set up please?
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) I record the initial flight with a Flight Recorder from flightsim.to. Then, during the replay, I use the in-game showcase camera to set up the spectator view. You lock it on the aircraft and then move to any position you think looks good. It's a lot of fun to experiment with it =)
Can you tell me how I can set up the spectator view; so that I can fly my aircraft and watch it from the ground like you have done? Please 🙏🏻
@@chrisbailey9331 You sadly won't be able to control it out of the ground view, at least not to my knowledge. So you have to record the flight first, I use this Flight Recorder for it: flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder For the ground view itself you have to go to your camera settings and select the "Showcase" Camera. There you can select "Drone Lock Mode", it'll lock the camera onto the aircraft without following it. After that you can move the camera to a position of your liking (I use a Xbox controller for that, but I'm sure it's possible with a keyboard too). The last step is to adjust the "Zoom level". I usually use 70-90% zoom. I hope that helps =)
Thank you for the detailed explanation; shall have to experiment with this. It’s one aspect of MSFS that isn’t as good as the old FSX ‘tower view’ was! Hopefully one day the developers will put this right! Thanks again for your help.
@@chrisbailey9331 sorry for the late response. I totally missed your reply. I fully agree with you, I really miss the tower view from FSX too. Sometimes I would fly the planes from the ground like RC planes =)
