Captain Sim C-130E Hercules – Aerobatic Display over New Haven – Microsoft Flight Simulator
Today we're taking Captain Sim's Lockheed C-130E Hercules up for an aerobatic display over ORBX's fantastic Tweed-New Haven scenery. I've always been fascinated by big transport airplanes being thrown around at airshows. Recently I rewatched a video of a C-130J doing aerobatics during the Farnborough Air Show, which included a loop. When Captain SIm released the C-130E recently, the temptation was just too high and naturally I had to try out its aerobatic capabilities in the sim =)
This is my first aircraft by Captain Sim and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. The visual model is spectacular, pretty much every access panel is removable and everything is modeled down to the tiniest detail. The virtual cockpit is also among one of the best I've seen in the sim and it makes you feel like you're sitting in the real thing. The flight model also feels fantastic, nice and heavy like you would expect from a big cargo plane. When comparing it to videos of the real aircraft, it seems very convincing. Doing aerobatics with it is a lot of fun, as you have to constantly adjust your power settings, closely watch your speed and g's at all times and use a looot of rudder.
For the price you can't expect a study level aircraft. Stil most of the systems and switches are modeled, including all the important bits and I'm sure for most users that'll be enough. And even though I love study level aircraft, in case of a complex multi-crew aircraft like the Hercules and for the type of flying I want to do with it, the systems modeling is sufficient for me.
One very nice feature I wanted to showcase in the video but sadly wasn't supported by my replay tool are the flares. They are fantastically modeled and look very realistic. During the flight I shot them during the last maneuver when I pulled up in front of the imaginary "spectators". Again, sadly I wasn't able to show that during the replay =/
There are only two things I currently don't like about the Hercules:
The Hercules currently hasn't got a manual and the sounds aren't very good and are very quiet overall.
In regard to the sounds I'm very happy to say that Captain Sim have commissioned a soundset from Echo 19. If you are familiar with Echo 19's fantastic work, like the F-22, F-35, Sabre or P-47, I'm sure you'll agree with me, that these are super exciting news!
Overall, I can highly recommend the C-130, especially with the news of the upcoming soundset in mind.
For this video I'm flying the Hercules over ORBX KHVN Tweed New Haven Airport. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and it has quickly become one of my favorite airfields in the sim. With the surrounding photogrammetry scenery, it just looks stunning. A nice bonus is, that it isn't far away from New York City.
Thanks for watching! I hope you’ll enjoy the video =)

Today we’re taking another look at Aeroplane Heaven’s Razorback P-47 and take it up for a short low level aerobatic display over Westport Airport. The reason for another video is, that the P-47 received a completely new sound set from Echo 19, who are also responsible for the fantastic F-86, F-35 and B-2 sound sets. If you watched my last video about the P-47, you might remember that I liked th...

      Hey, thank you very much for your very kind words! Glad you like it =) I think I might have a few too many hours in simulators 😅I've been a vintage aviation and airshow fan since I can remember and have been around airplanes for most of my life. Ever since I started sim flying around 17 - 18 years ago, when I got my first PC, I always enjoyed flying pretend airshow displays in pretty much any plane and in any sim. I guess that probably counts as a few years of practice 🙂

      All I wanted to be when I was a kid was an RAF pilot, then found out I am red/green colourblind and that kind of killed the dream (they offered me stores clerk in the RAF when I chanced my arm and applied anyway:), I didn't accept). So anyway last father's day, at the tender age of 53, I was gifted msfs and I've been addicted ever since. There is just so much to learn and I'm curious to see if I maybe could've made it as a pilot, at least academically; still a long way to go though and I'm loving it. Keep up the great work mate, you've inspired me to try another skillset 👍

    Compass and heading indicators operate incorrectly. The card in the real compass and heading indicator remain North oriented and the plane turns around them. The cards do not spin! I get that not every system in a sim aircraft can or even needs to be modeled but a simple primary flight instruments should work correctly ( and in many other sim planes they do) and there is no reason this couldn't have been done here other than the game programmer that did these instruments is not a pilot and or didn't bother to look a a photo of the instrument panel of a vintage airplane. What a shame.

    • @vintagesimulations
      @vintagesimulations 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Turbocharger is modeled, but I haven't tested it enough to say how accurate it is. I mostly do low level flying and rarely use it. If I do, only to give a slight increase in boost. The only thing to note is in the DCS P-47 you can link the Blower lever to the throttle, that isn't possible here, you must individually adjust it.

      @vintagesimulations 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it =) Sorry for the late response! I think when it comes to size and dimensions the A2A Razorback was slightly better. On AH's P-47 the shape of the Razorback isn't quite right (even though they have dramatically improved it since the release) and the wings are slightly to fat. Having said that AH model is better when it comes to details like the rivets, wheel hubs or the wheel wells. Overall, I'm very happy with AH's P-47, especially since the sound update. But I would buy A2A's P-47 in a heartbeat if they would ever bring it to MSFS. Their warbirds were truly something special and are the aircraft I miss most in MSFS.

      @@Neosnoop37 I agree, it shouldn’t be a problem. I really hope the landing (and also takeoff) behavior will get fixed for the MSFS P-51. I've "flown" the P-51 in many different simulators and especially the A2A version in FSX and the DCS version are considered to be as close as it gets to the real thing. Both can be landed in a three- and two-point attitude without any issues. I've also seen real P-51s land both ways and often times with the power cut before touchdown.

    If you are reading this and those pesky Christians are gone. These aliens are really fallen angels or demons! And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. II Thessalonians 2:11‭-‬12 NKJV For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:12‭-‬13 NKJV As soon as the church is/was taken out of the way (Raptured) they will reveal/revealed themselves. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. II Thessalonians 2:5‭-‬7 NKJV For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. I Thessalonians 4:15‭-‬18 NKJV Jesus is coming back soon, or if you are reading this afterwards, he's going to judge ALL mankind! Did God not flood the entire earth only sparing Noah and his family? In fact he tells us why: Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:3‭, ‬5 ESV God is just and if you had read his word in context looking to understand the meaning of such things you would see that he is patient with the wicked, seeking for all men and women to come to salvation in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately sin cannot go unpunished forever. God was giving people more than enough time to repent. Because he is just, he must ultimately punish sin, just as he will bring his church to live with him in glory. There are many prophecies that speak of his second coming. Jesus will return and establish his kingdom, ruling from Jerusalem for 1000 years. Jesus foretells his crucifixion, his resurrection and ascendance, as well as the Rapture of the church and his second coming. Read Matthew 24 if you're interested in seeing an explanation of it all. There will be those who scoff, but those who hear the Word (The Bible) and take it to heart are blessed, especially speaking of Revelation which gives you God's playbook for his upcoming judgment of the nations. Jesus came and died on the cross to pay the price for ALL sin. God has extended this opportunity during the age of grace for this time to accept his sacrifice as payment for OUR sins. His love is deep and wide, but to understand him deeper: The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 ESV The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; Psalms 103:8‭-‬11 NKJV I pray that you will understand his great love for you. He desires for all to come to repentance, he wants none to suffer, but he has given us a choice. Many will not choose to repent and follow him. Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13‭-‬14 NKJV So if you needed to hear this today, don't delay turning to the Lord. Don't wait another day, because you could die tomorrow and then you will stand before the Lord and have to give an account for your sins. If you haven't given your life to him he will say: Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:23 NIV There's only ONE gospel, and only ONE way to receive salvation from your sins. If you haven't asked the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart then please don't delay it any more. I'm here to pray with you and lead you to the Lord Jesus Christ. It isn't enough to just pray a simple prayer; the Lord wants you to surrender yourself to him; turning from your sin, giving up that relationship that's hindering you, to stop visiting that website, stop hanging out with those people that cause you to stumble. We are called to stop living in sin, and if you don't know what sin is, then read the Gospels and the Ten Commandments. Immerse yourself in God's word! For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:12‭-‬13 NKJV Don't delay your decision, thinking I'll repent another day because I enjoy my life as it is. I hope you take it seriously and examine yourself and ask yourself who/what you really put your faith in!

    Nice video as usual. By fortune the flight dynamics of air rsfts in sims must be very benign, that tonneaux after take off woild cause to kill yourself immediatly in RL. In an heavy aircraft like the Beech 18 you must have enough speed to do such things. After take off tonneaux are possible only on modern acro aircrafts with lot of power.

    • @vintagesimulations
      @vintagesimulations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I'm glad you like the video! You might be surprised about how capable the Beech 18 is =) You might want to check out this video of Matt Younkin flying his airshow routine in his Beech 18. th-cam.com/video/h1qSzCnzXvY/w-d-xo.html At around 13:00 you'll see him doing a roll right after takeoff. If you look at his airspeed indicator he does it at a similar speed I do it at in the sim. I agree it can be a risky maneuver in a heavy or underpowered aircraft but it's not impossible. John Mohr also rolled his underpowered 220 hp Stearman right after takeoff, there are also a few pilots who roll or even snap roll an AT-6 right after takeoff.

    • @antonioiozzi291
      @antonioiozzi291 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@vintagesimulations the standard Beech 18 is not certified for acrobatics. It is msde to take passengers not for doing acro. You cannot fly inverted without a proper fuel injection system. This red/ black Beech is highly modified for acro.

    • @vintagesimulations
      @vintagesimulations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@antonioiozzi291 Sorry but that's not true. Yes, the Beech 18 was never built to do aerobatics, and I probably wouldn’t attempt it in real life, as it is very easy to overstress the airframe, but it is possible to do so. In the video I linked you above both Matt and his crew chief Jeff Gibbs get interviewed and talk about modifications to the airframe. The only modifications to it are the added smoke system, more lights for his night airshow, spar straps (which are a requirement for all airworthy Beech 18s and are also modeled on the sim version). The only performance enhancing modification is that his interior is lighter than the one you see in MSFS, which is why I only added a minimal fuel load to keep the weight down. His engines are stock carbureted R-985s. It's perfectly possible to do aerobatics without a fuel injection system, you just have to keep it positive. It's not unusual to see Stearmans, Tiger Moths, AT-6s and many other airplanes with carbureted engines to do aerobatics, including hammerhead turns, spins, snap rolls and rolls. A friend of mine does aerobatics with his stock Stearman all the time. Again, you just have to keep it positive, if not the engine will cough and lose power and if you keep it inverted for too long it’ll quit.

      @LeCapitaineHaddock 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 3D model is much much better than the Asobo / Aeroplane Heaven one. There's just one cockpit option, but it's a nice old-school upgrade. A step-up from the 1920's panel without being too modern. There's a full Indiana Jones interior too.

    • @vintagesimulations
      @vintagesimulations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Like @LeCapitaineHaddock writes, the 3D model is worlds ahead of the Asobo/Aeroplane Heaven one. It's much more authentic and a lot more detailed. There are also plenty of paint schemes included of actual aircraft, including some airworthy examples. The cockpit is a depiction of a typical modernized 70s-80s restoration. The flight models are quite similar. The Tukan Trimotor performs a bit better during takeoff and climb, being a more powerful 5AT model instead of the 4AT depicted by Aeroplane Heaven. They are similar in roll and rudder authority, but the elevator is a bit more responsive. Neither of them is perfect. Both don't have a lot of systems depth to them and the soundsets could use some work. There are also some bugs like the yoke moving very slowly in the cockpit or the inop Hobbs meter. Tukan already mentioned that there will be updates and upgrades in the future like for example a new cabin interior for the military version. I'd say if you want a more authentic depiction of a Trimotor go with Tukans one, but don't expect a perfect/flawless aircraft....at least not yet.
