Docked in Funchal, Madeira during our cruise, we never imagined the adventure that awaited us at Pico do Arieiro, one of the island’s most breathtaking peaks. For a different, relatively shorter hike than the famous PR1 trail up here, take a left from the car park and carry on walking the path down.
This video wasn’t planned, but it captures the essence of that incredible day. From the moment we ascended into the clouds via a Bolt taxi ride, to wandering along a hidden side trail surrounded by dramatic, barren landscapes, this was a journey unlike any other. As the wind cleared the mist and the sun revealed the magnificent scenery, it felt like we had Madeira’s peaks all to ourselves.
