People are scared of Sam Darnolds pay day Because Of Cousins holding us hostage! Viking Fans saw What Happens with a Big Money QB! SKOL
Not gonna lie not big fan of small dogs but dolly is adorable
Yes she is and she belongs to the Vikes
It was Always A Yea For Me But, With Quesi....he can't Draft So He relies on Free Agency Which is Expensive And Can't Afford expensive Players! I Want a Better GM! SKOL
Dave cracks me up, just waves goodbye to Darnold
Good conversation, great content.
NO NO impossible there is no way they will let SAM go right now .SAM is our OFFICIAL QB number #2 he is going through the best moment of his career he has the confidence of Kweso - KOC - and all the guys in the locker room mentally he is at his best moment full of confidence and with the right attitude to go to the playoffs, this is the peak moment of his career and he should stay with the Vikings... SKOL !!!
32:16 "George Blunt : I dunno if KOC is sold on Darnold longterm..." >>>> And how does this clown know that? Has he spoken to KOC? No.
I think some are holding off on buying into Darnold because they think Jefferson and KOC are why he's having success. To those who believe that, go back and watch his last 6 games with the Panthers......as well as look at his stats.......pretty similar to what we're seeing now.......with less talent and a bad coach. A switch flipped.......something happened. I was watching those games and thinking..."he's different......the game has slowed down for him..........he seems calmer and more decisive". The other half who are passing on Darnold is because they are full on fans of JJ already. I get it.......when you draft your own QB........it's different........it's like your own guy. However, no matter how good you think he looked in the preseason...........that means nothing. Zach Wilson looked great in the preseason. Fact is, most 1st round QBs don't work out.......and it would be a big win if JJ turned out being as good as Darnold is this year.
Sam wants to be a starter with starter money. He will be gone. He doesn't want to sit behind JJ. JJ was drafted to be the starter.
Sign him to a 3 year deal get ahead of it so he’s cheaper and let Jj marinate a la Jordan love. It’s a win win
Should have been done last month !!! 💯✔️😎👍Do it Now !!!
The "Darnold dillema", will become a nonstop media bable , driving us nuts before it is over 😮
Spotrac ...estimates Darnold's current value at 32 million..i trust the front office to do the right thing
Franchise Darnold n keep letting McCarthy learning til he's 💯% ready thats my take finish season to make the decision ,he does love being in Minnesota .SKOL
Franchise tag him ..
Darnold absolutely keeps drives alive when Kirk wouldn’t be able to. You gotta have that ability to make a playoff run. Kirk is not capable of a playoff run
Mr. Beard is plain Stupid ...A known Commodity, for a complete unknown ...The running game is the PROBLEM...THE RUN GAME KEEPS DEFENSES HONEST ..
Yes keep Sam Darnold and let JJ Mcarthy and Sam Darnold compete for #1 and #2 QB spots But do not let JJ Mcarthy out of this building he is our future QB period !
No. JJ is the starter.
Yes. Many folks are asking the wrong question and conflating this with the Sam vs JJ as the starter. It doesn't matter in 2025. More relevant questions are what will Sam be worth in a trade? He was worth a 4th, 2nd, and 6th to the Jets in 2019. Next questions are how much will he cost, compared to the value of those picks? I think it's no contest. Sam is likely worth at least 2 if not 3 top 50 draft picks. That's the opportunity to save $30-40m per player over the next 4 or 5 years. That's also 2 or 3 extra quality young players that can develop and grow alongside JJ for the next 4 or 5 years. The cap space they might save by not extending Sam might get them 2 one year rentals. Remember in a trade the acquiring team usually picks up the remaining contract - so depending on when Sam is traded, the Vikes should get a decent refund. If Sam is extended, it recreates the same situation that was intended this season except that everyone knows that Sam is very good and there is no need to rush JJ into service. Also consider that if Sam leaves in FA, the Vikes are almost certain to get absolutely nothing. With $80m in cap space and looking to upgrade at four positions at least they will almost certainly be net buyers in FA and not qualify for any Comp picks even adding Daniel Jones to the equation. Anyone that says so probably doesn't understand how Comp picks work. Ask them to explain the qualifying period, threshold, and why a team qualifies. If they can't answer - disregard their opinion. A two year contract opens up multiple possibilities for when or whether to transition to JJ and when to trade Sam to maximum effect.
Darnold has a higher ceiling and lower floor than anybody on the Viking QB roster with that arm talent, scramble, and with some bonehead hero ball fumbling. You sign him if he takes you deep in the playoffs or the Superbowl; that where the QB should get paid if they do win in the playoffs and SB. If not he can sign elsewhere. JJ+ Jone is cheaper. Cousin was more about stats. JJ is an unknown. Jone and JJ are closer in skill set. Darold was drafted #3 for a reason. I thought Josh Allen was going #1 that year, he had the arm and running, but was raw.
What's the long term plan? Dump JJ when he deserves a contract? Always take a rookie contract? If that's the plan it makes sense to let Darnold walk. If you'd sign JJ to a big QB deal if he's good in the future why risk losing a QB for 3 years of a cheap contract? If he takes the team to a deep playoff run, we'd give that up so we can pray our new QB can take us to the same place? I don't get it.
Why not the same plan as this season? Extend Sam and transition to JJ when he's ready. The only difference is that now the fanbase understands that Sam is a really good player, and so does the rest of the league - which just makes Sam all the more valuable when Kwesi trades him to an AFC team. And all those extra draft picks help Kwesi put even more good talented, cheap and cost controlled players around JJ early in his career. That's exactly what the Packers did with Rodgers and Love.
There is only so many DUDES on the planet !!!!!!
I sign Darnold 7 days a week and twice on Sundays !!!!
I've been a Vikings fan since 1970 , we have been trying to replace Fran since the late 70's . JJ is just a project and may never be more than that . Sam is the know commodity .
BO NIX IS VERY VERY GOOD. You were wrong!!!!!
Sure … why not ? If the price is right.
Very possible
Here is the scenario tho…do we think we can get close to Darnold production with JJ? If so…we will have $30+ million extra to spend by going JJ. So would we rather have Darnold, or JJ PLUS a stud Guard or two and a corner or DL? Darnold is making it a tougher decision with his recent play tho. Especially since he has cut out the interceptions
however, as with the last game against the cards Sam came darn close to throwing an INT under pressure in the 2nd quarter…Now he threaded some passes for completions which is great. I would rather he take a sack than a panicked throw in the general direction of a receiver. Yes , he does hold onto the ball a little longer than he should but what do I know…
I think that's the wrong question - it's not Sam vs JJ. It's how much will Sam cost and how much is he worth when they trade him? Saving $30m this year might get you a few one year rentals. Extending Sam means they don't have to worry whether JJ is good enough, until he is. In the meantime Sam continues to play as a top 10 QB and adds to his trade value, maybe going from 2 or 3 top 50 picks, to multiple 1st rounders and some sweeteners. First round picks that could play alongside JJ for 4 cost controlled years. It's what the Packers did when they moved on from a declining Rodgers to Love and how they have surrounded Love with a bit of extra young talent from those Rodgers trade picks. The Packers didn't have Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson, Darrisaw and Turner to start with. Extending and trading Sam at the 2025 deadline or during the 2026 draft could set JJ up with another 5 or 6 premium players (the picks for Sam plus the Vikes picks).
@ ya I just think that is a tricky situation, bc if I’m Sam, I’m not accepting an extension with the Vikings if I know they are gonna trade me. I’m just going to go to free agency and sing a long term deal with the team I want to. We’ll see how that plays out. I’d love to be able to get trade value for him, that’d be best case scenario, but I think Darnold can throw a wrench in those plans. But money wise, I’d rather have JJ and DJ Reed and G Tyler Smith, vs just Darnold, in that hypothetical situation. Bc we will have $30-$35M extra to spend
@ do u hear yourself tho…your nitpick on Sam is ONE play in an entire game, that was an “almost interception”…he has thrown 6tds and 0 ints the last three games, and has hardly any bonehead plays. He has definitely cleaned up his game. He’s playing as clean as any QB in the league as of late.
@@jaredpribyl So, just this week Sam said in his presser how much he loves being a Viking. I think we might be underestimating the value of being at a good organisation on a winning playoff team, and working with a coach that is teaching you how to be a better QB. Sam has experienced the opposite twice, and money might not be the same motivator for him as it is for Kirk. We have just seen Daniel Jones make a similar decision probably over the opportunity to start elsewhere, or even with teams regarded as better playoff chances but with inferior coaches. Kwesi can just exercise the franchise tag for about $41m and keep him anyway, but I think it's much more likely that Sam accepts a team friendly deal. It's a fair point that Sam would have more control over where he goes in FA, but at the same time he could add language to a deal with the Vikes that gives him some say in where he would be traded. I also think it's against the Vikes culture to be brutal and not have some consideration for the player. Remember it was Jaren Hall that spit the dummy with the Vikes because he didn't go back on the PS when they signed Sam, so ended up on the Seahawks PS. I think Sam has a lot to benefit from getting another off season to work with KOC and further refine his skills. I think he would at least start early next season, and if he consolidates his standing as a quality QB by keeping JJ on the bench that will only add value to his next contract and bring a whole new level of teams into the market - if they start seeing him as a legitimate top 10 QB. I understand the attraction of the FAs, but I'd argue Kwesi will still have twice as much to spend in FA this year than last season, even if he did extend Sam. He managed to sign a truckload of quality FAs then. I was keen on DJ reed until I saw he was only 5'9". We know Flores is a fan of longer guys outside - drafted Khyree 6'4", signed Nudie 6'3", and traded for Nahshon 6'4". Flores already has the short guy on the roster in Murphy, and Blackmon -so I'd think Nate Hobbs might be the more likely target, if either is available. Watch for Iowa St CB Damien Porter as a likely 1st round draft target for Kwesi. 6'4" fast and a guy that could shut down Jameson, Christian and Rome. Skol!
Definitely better than the 2022 team, and Darnold gives us a higher ceiling than with Kirk
The vikings should sign Darnold to a 3 year team friendly contract , remember the vikings organization is top shelf , he could take the money and run to a dumpster fire franchise but I don't think darnold is the kind of guy that wants all the money he can get , plus he has a home hear .
A lot of folks are over estimating the attraction of money and underestimating the importance of being at a good organisation on a winning team. Sam said in his presser that he loves being a Viking. KOC is the first coach to have his back and believe in him. I don't think he will just automatically pass on that to go to another shitshow for a few extra bucks. Daniel Jones just chose the Vikes for similar reasons.
KOC is the qb evaluator. He knows what he has in Jj McCarthy.
Not relevant. How much is Sam worth, vs how much will he cost to keep. Kwesi is the GM, and the business decision comes first.
What's it going to cost? Currently not a single member of the Vikings secondary is signed past this season, they still need a RG, and DT. You over invest at QB you still have to add 7 contracts to next years team.. If you actually want to compete.
False. CBs McGlothern and Blackmon and Najee Thomson are signed in 2025. Signing Darnold and Jones will likely still cost less than the contracts most teams have for their QB1 alone - so that would hardly be called overinvesting. Kwesi had less salary cap space last season, about $30m, than he would likely have this season AFTER signing Sam and Jones, and he managed to add Greenard, AVG, Cashman, Jihad Ward, Aaron Jones, Griffin, Gilmore, Bullard, Cam Akers, Cam Robinson, Tillery, Risner, Feeney, Sherfield, Moreau and Grugier Hill, and others. Kwesi can easily add more talent next season and keep Sam. The point you continually miss is Sam's vale as a trade asset. That is what Kwesi is buying. The question is how many draft picks - because every premium draft pick gives Kwesi cost control over a potential starter for 4 years. Signing a $10m apy FA gives him 2 or 3 one year rentals. The extra players from the draft picks will also be aligned to JJ - growing and developing alongside him and Jets, Addison, Darrisaw, Hockenson and Turner as the likely core of the new team. Extending Sam is also a hedge against JJ not being healthy, ready or even good, and the ability to wait until he is. JJ is 21. He has plenty of time. He is a long term play - not a project to be wrecked. Also remember that when Sam is traded the Vikes will likely get the balance of his contract effectively refunded, so depending on when he is traded anywhere between 100% and 25% could feasibly be avoided. Extending Sam just gives Kwesi so many options and a potential draft pick bonanza assuming continues to improve as he has nearly every week with KOC. Letting him walk in FA gives the Vikes absolutely nothing.
@@robe2504 not starters and trusting a UDFA and a dudes coming off knee surgery to be your future starting secondary is stupid, Not one of their starting 5 in the secondary are signed through this season.. But good job digging through the roster fodder to try and ignore that point,,
@@franknorth164 thank you for your thoughtful comment
@@franknorth164 Firstly, can we calm down and take the puerile exaggeration and crazy out of your tone? I totally agree with the situation in the CB room, which is why I have been arguing the same point suggesting that the Vikes first draft pick will be at CB, and that they could even double dip. But conflating keeping Sam with the strategy is at CB, is questionable reasoning at best. The FA pickings at CB aren't strong and likely reduce further as teams start extending their own. Throwing money at inferior players doesn't upgrade anyone. Firstly, Kwesi will have plenty of money to spend even if he signs Sam, especially if it's a 2 year deal. Secondly, I'd suggest that Kwesi will extend Murphy sooner rather than later. These guys love this organisation, locker room and coaching which is why we see so many team friendly deals. I think they'll probably bring Griffin back probably cheaper than last season, and Moreau and Nahshon are likely vet minimum signings - so that gives them a similar baseline to last season. Hopefully Kwesi will be able to nab one of the better FAs - I'd think Nate Hobbs might be a target if he's available. He would replace and upgrade Gilmore. A draft target you might want to keep an eye on is 6'4" Iowa St CB Darien Porter, who is likely a late draft riser, and late 1st round pick. Then of course if they extend Sam and trade him on or before the 2026 draft, they could add some extra talent then. Skol!
@@robe2504 You want me to "take the crazy out" while claiming a UDFA and two guys coming off surgery are your plans for the 2025 CB room.. lol Move on, There are no starters in the CB room under contract next year and you replied with stupidity... MY OP stands..
People forget that Darnold is only 27 years old. McCarthy was drafted as a 21 year old. Darnold at 19 years old drafted to the worst team, in the biggest media spotlight of NY. to become they're savior.
Darnold was not 19 when he was drafted 😂 Wtf are you talking about
@@user-gc3qj7md8c I agree. He was 21 like JJM is now.
My vote is 💯 yes. Times a million
Great show!! Interesting situation for the Vikings!! 10-2 !!!!! SKOL!!
Kicking the field goal was the right decision. They relied on their defense which has been great the last 5 games. The Cardinals did not play prevent defense the last two minutes either. Darnold just played like stud the last three minutes. The Cards were banking on getting the ball back and getting in position for a field goal. They had the time to do it also. Kicking it was the right decision. Poor offensive performance with 1:13 left in the game was the reason the Cards lost. Not the decision to kick it.
SKOL!!!
I would rather have a come from behind win than a total collapse that almost costs you like last week. Can't complain about 10-2 and I think next week if we win we can clinch a playoff berth.
Greetings Darren Campbell, I've got to ask you for your opinion on the Vikings' season up to this point? Best regards, Richard...
So far, so very good.
@@darrencampbell7918 Amen to that, bro! I like that adverb you added to your declaration.
Van Ginkel is the man!
Brady's comment on Jones made my view of Brady go down a notch. I'm sorry, but the fact that Jones was asked to be PS safety shows just how petty and dysfunctional that organization is. They had no better option for that spot than Jones? Really? That's going to help that team get better? I have no issue with Jones walking out that door, and I bet more than a few other Giants wished they could have joined him.
Giants wanted Jones to sit at home and collect a check, he didnt want that he wanted to be in the building helping his teammates out anyway he could. Daboll and schoen didnt want that. So Brady not knowing the story decided to comment on it and take a shot Jones who turned down Bradys team (raiders). As for Brady, the Giants will always live rent free in his head specially Eli Manning
I can’t see a downside given that there is no plan to install Daniel Jones at starter at any time. Maybe the Vikings hire him as a backup for a year or two. As long as they can afford him at a typical backup salary I have no problem. It will probably be a non-factor except perhaps giving them a compensatory pick in 2026.
He will be on our roster in .25. I ❤️ jonsey
Pace is a major loss....
Is Sammy hiding an injury????!!
No. Not from what I saw Sunday against Arizona.
