I kept my heavy aatack build the same except that I swapped out both shoulders to two stun needles. Killed snail easy. I had to switch back to my previous build cinsistng of double cannon and 10 laser drones to beat the next guy easy. Mind yiu this was on my second play through and i was maxed out with os tuning and some special generators.

I am kind of playing as one. I started as a male Loth sworn Drow (Tav). With a background off a common noble born Drow, sworn to fight for his Matriarch. Not too bad off, but basically knowing nothing else other than Drow culture. And then he gets the tadpole and for the first time, he is free to choose his own path. Choosing allies for his own good. But helping others, like Shadowheart out of that pod gives him a strange feeling. His matriarch never allowed him to save a surfacer like her before. He knows where he is coming from, but someting inside tells him: 'never again'.

I've created the longest playthrough as my first ever Baldur's Gate experience 😂 I wanted a good playthrough and save the world from chaos and well 300+ hours later I've reached act 3 and I'm close to killing Orin but can't decide what would fit best into the timing of the game's story. I could be messing up by procrastinating an eventual catastrophic event to occur but I have put so much time into this carefully making sure I've saved scummed correctly to prevent any disaster now I just want to get to the end and feel overwhelmed with making a mistake at the end. I've taken a break and played other games for a couple weeks now I'll make my final decisions and patiently wait for the story to unfold finally in no rush but a timely undoing of the evil that has unfolded and become ultimate ruler of all with the brain under my control doing all that is necessary to make evil a path to death and good a golden bridge to a life of plenty. ❤ bg3 great game best I've played in 25 years of gaming.

If I'm playing a game in which I'm supposed to be an unstoppable killing machine, why would I want it to be a challenge? Like any game in which you play as a transhuman badass.

On games with difficulty options, I tend to start on Easy until I get a feel for how to play the game (unless it feels so easy that it's boring, then I'll bump it up one notch) and then increase the difficulty to usually skip the "normal" and go to the notch above it (i.e. "Heroic" by Halo standards). That way I don't feel overwhelmed by slamming my head against a wall before I've mastered how to play the game and instead feel a tense pressure and focus on overcoming the challenges the game presents. I've noticed this mostly applies to First-Person Shooters and other games that are focused on gameplay instead of story. Such as Halo, Space Marine, etc.

I think it's more that games designed for a specific difficulty level excel at it, the Soulsborne series is a perfect example of this (as is Halo on Heroic which apparently it was balanced for), and games that are not tend to be uncomfortable no matter what you set it to. Then there's games that heavily emphasize the story, such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Rogue Trader, and ironically The Witcher 3 in which the difficulties are pretty well balanced but combat feels more like an additive that sweetens the story rather than the purpose of the game and so on difficulties above Easy it grows to feel like an irritating slog of "ugh, just get out of the way".

Not going to shame someone for playing on easy or normal mode, but harder settings are a true test of your playing skills.

My absolute favorite playthrough is a Tiefling Barb/Fighter Good Durge who is romantic with Karlach. He is a beast in MANY ways, but after his terrible "bump on the head" he learned what love is through Karlach, and let it guide him out of the darkness. He has just conquered his Father and Sibling in one of the most intense fights ever, story wise. I'm not quite finished yet, but things are quickly ramping up to a very emotional ending, and I'm not sure I'm ready. Osiris is possibly one of my favorite characters I've made in a RPG. I love this game.

I like to play to chill, not to get an adrenaline shot. for an adrenaline shot I'll go and ACTUALLY have an adventure. adrenaline shots aren't meant to be had while sitting down in front of a few pixels

I agree, I enjoyed the focus on dungeons and a more linear design of past games. Botw is just too open where it feels boring with its lack of story and structure and the divine beasts are not as good as past dungeons.

Playing on easy mode is fine. Not every game needs an easy mode tho. From Software is the best example.

My biggest issue is I can never really tell which tendril will launch so I get up getting pushed back and by the time I am to recover the tendril is already withdrawing.
