United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 พ.ค. 2022
All things PUNK ROCK, Oi!, Hardcore, and DIY!!!
Pretty accurate channel name, lol. I am going to do a lot of punk rock content. Album reviews, song reactions, retrospectives, and podcasts covering punk rock, oi, and hardcore (all punk adjacent music) from the mid 90's to now. I will even be checking out newer bands and doing streams as often as possible.
I have a small indie label and would love to check out your music, so please reach out on IG or email if you have a band you want me to review or check out!

Grudgepacker turns inward lyrically, with singer/founder Allan Yaxon singing about his own self-love as a Brown gay man over the stomping hardcore punk introduced by their self-titled debut. JESSE MICHAELS Talks Modern Punk Bands & Laura Jane Grace Catbite Op Ivy Set
The most amazing terrible live band ever..I say they as a compliment..they were so sloppy but man they pulled it ofF…GO!
I've been a punker since the early 80's I think the Interupters are just an awesome band. I really appreciate their positivity. Their music really helped me when my wife of over 20 years left me, because it's very positive. Punk is punk and I think it's very anti punk to slag other bands as not "punk" enough.
Never heard of Quadrophenia! WTF.
Nope. It's a 70s movie from the UK, and I watch almost exclusively horror movies. Maybe I'll check it out a do a review tho, I'm sorry I disappointed you
Japan put out some of the best punk rock ever. After the Ramones, my favorite band of all time is Teengenerate. They have a great documentary out too. only existed from '93 to '96. perfect band. Guitar Wolf, Registrators, Phantom Rats, Jet Boys.... Japan rules.
Guitar Wolf is awesome, I'll check out these other bands, too!
@@thepunkrockreview You'll love them. Registrators - Terminal Boredom and Teengenerate - Savage are among the best best records of the 90s imo. "My GTO" was written for Teengenerate by Andy G of the Devil Dogs. Canada has some cool bands like that too. Spaceshits- Winter Dance Party is another top 10 fav of 90s garage punk. in 2018, this small town band called the Phone Jerks put out a similar record and it kicks ass. cheers man! love your channel.
"Rigor Mortis! What do you mean rigor mortis?" Will always make me laugh 😂 It’s a perfect movie
Absolutely love this one
Does nothing goes nowhere. Same old same old..
@@paulgriffiths1062 👍
I've known all the members of Choking Victim since the very beginning. Actually Stiza and Alec had a band before Choking Victim called no commercial value. They were great but when Squirt from Boston started to squat at fetus they started choking victim with him on drums. I believe choking victim was better than Leftöver Crack because Squirt was in the band. He's an incredible musician and just has a style unlike anybody else. Leftöver crack just never had a drummer quite as perfect as Squirt was for Choking Victim. The chemistry was just unbelievable between Stiza Alec and squirt. If you want hear some killer crack rock steady Ska core you should check out public serpents. Squirt sings and wrote mostly all the songs. It's very similar to choking victim a leftöver crack but just a little more mature in advance I guess. Don't get me wrong leftover crack first couple of records we're incredible. But something about the choking victim record captured a certain time when the squatter Punk scene in New York City was fucking incredibly amazing Plus everybody was young and full of life. Honestly I think choking victim was equally as good as Operation Ivy and better in many other ways to. But Operation Ivy was amazing I got a chance to see them twice once in Providence Rhode Island with Fugazi and verbal assault and once at the very last show Gilman Street with green day and some other bands.
First, in no way, shape, or form is CV better than Op Ivy. At least imo. I do think they're better than LOC, though. Public Serpents are great, I'd love to have them on the podcast at some point. Hear some stories/history of that part of the country and era.
Dude holds the record for most dogsh*t takes ever uttered by a human.
And Out Come The Wolves, not a bad choice at all for all time favorite album. It's in my top 5 punk albums. Have it on cd, i don't collect vinyl. I'm not exclusively a punk guy, i listen to all kinds of music, but alternative rock is my favorite thing (especially 90s). My other top 5 punk albums would most likely be Bad Brains - Rock For Light Offspring - Smash Consumed - Hit For Six Suicide Machines - Destruction By Definition
Cool shit homie!
Thanks man
The menzingers is what the band you were thinking of wirh iron chic
Yes! Thank you! A pretty good band, too, but they're getting a big too soft rock for me in their later career
Shut Your Mouth… was the only album I owned by AFI. I never got too into them. I saw them a bunch of times whether it was when my band was on Warped Tour the same year they were or when they were on the same bill of another band I went to see. I can’t pinpoint why I never really got into them. Same with Strung Out. Maybe I’ll go back and listen to their early catalog- the first couple of records start to finish.
Band sucks
Their very very early actual punk stuff was pretty good.
number one content for HC Punk !
Lessgooooo!!!! Thank you for hanging out, I appreciate it!

Shop Talk! My favorite next to live streams!
Ayyyyye! What's up Julie! You feeling ok???
@thepunkrockreview I'm doing ok!
all that I can say is that the "Street Dogs" album "fading american dream" is such one of the best albums that recorded in the zero years , fantastic record good as hell !
yeah, every record I buy for myself is/was something special and every record means a lot to me (because I work really hard for my bills to pay). and some idiots think its ok when he gives a shit on my stuff and can steal or ruined my records that's not ALRIGHT ! Cool stuff man.
ben quad are seriously upcoming and talented musicians
Randy do you use an ultrasonic cleaner or do you use a manual "spin clean" like record cleaner. I have a manual one but I'm seeing if there is one better and what do you think is a good cleaning agent?
The best way to clean records (in my opinion) is an ultrasonic cleaner. That being said, I use a spin-clean, personally, as it's what I can afford. It does a pretty good job, and if you're not buying a bunch of old, used records, it should be fine. It's older, dirtier albums that need that deep clean.
I love the lookout ep , and that demo album then the s/t . Those are my top then lets go then aoctw , lww then indestructible. The rest are all around the same I love the pre lars stuff more. I love matt singing which he dod more pre lars .... Jmo
Made a mistake I forgot 2000 (5) love that album then indestructible then let's go over lww. I really screwed this list up. And I really need to really listen to dominoes on and give them a fair shot. Their a few songs on each of those i really dig...
the Interrupters are fantastic... all top notch musicians... seen em twice and will every time they come through texas
Congrats on your label putting out that EP. That's a great accomplishment.
Thanks man, I have a few more records on the way as well, I'm pretty excited about the next year
@ that’s awesome! 👊
I’m 68 now and it’s unbelievable that ppl are discovering punk! We used to get harassed so much.
I’m 68 now and it’s unbelievable that ppl are discovering punk! We used to get harassed so much.
I actually have the vinyl Big Boys & Dicks Live at Raouls! Bunch more stuff. Really Red AK 47 Saw Henry Rollins do his first tour with Black Flag, at the island in Houston.
That's rad. I like Really Red, not super into Bog Boys or Dicks if I'm honest
I finally got around to getting a Bandcamp account and checked out your labels page. I'm blown away by several of the bands. I love Dylan Disaster and the Revelry, I bought that album after you posted one of their live concert videos a few months ago. The Havoc is another band that I really dig and Lifer is really good too. You've exposed me to so much more punk music than I could have ever hoped to find on my own.
Heck yeah, then I'm doing my job!!!
Recently got into building a music library on vinyl. Loving the experience of finds in the wild, purposefully curating something to represent the varied aspects of my tastes. Need to pick up some punk actually as there isn't any in my collection yet...not to give away where I'm from but I'm hoping to find a copy of an old Unseen/Toxic Narcotic split, might have to go to Discogs for it though.
Are you really in Texas? Greetings from Bridgeport Texas 😁
Yep, in Houston! Close to Memorial City Mall
@@thepunkrockreview Awesome, nice to see a fellow Texan Punk🫡
@@thepunkrockreview Next time I’m in town I’ll drop in!
@@SkinnyEatWorld95 So few of us. I’m from back in the day when The Island was the only real punk venue. 1979-1983. Rock Island them Paradise Island, then just The Island. You wouldn’t believe the bands I saw there!
@@CastielLovesIt There really are so few of us. My brother used to talk about The Island. He's my father's first son so he's 20 years older than I am. Wish I could have seen it all.
Luckily my father burned record collecting into my brain. Love and miss you Dad❤
What's your favorite record you own?
@@thepunkrockreview There's 3. Goddamnit, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, and From Here To Infirmary❤️ All Alkaline Trio❤️
Love the Screeching Weasel album in the background.
Oh yeahn̈ I love Screeching Weaselà
@@thepunkrockreview Same, my elder brother Ryan turned me on to them years ago.
I'm several years older than you so maybe the age thing is the difference but bad religion was one of the 1st real punk bands I got into & against the grain was their newest record at the time so I got to experience br prior to them signing to a major , I'm also not a huge fan of br after the against the grain albums. Meanwhile suffer and how could hell are 2 of my all time faves. So I guess I could understand how you didn't get into them , you're younger than me and got into it at a later age than me and those later br albums from generator on to the major label releases are def not my faves & I'm just not into em although recipe for hate was ok. And I can't believe you don't like the clash wowww.
This is an OLD video, I now like the Clash's first 2 records. I filmed a lot of content through that journey, you should check it out! Also, I like Bad Religion "All Ages" the best, personally.
@@thepunkrockreview ya I'm a new subscriber and have been checking out your vids in btwn work and 1 kid and 1 infant so I'm trying. All ages was cool back then but doesn't encompass everything good from back then. Suffer was ground breaking back then and a was a major influence for all the bands I loved back then and still do to this day. Every br besides in to the unknown (play at your own risk) and everything prior to generator was amazing imo. Brett gurewitz is a genius and has produced or played on , been on his label or had something to do with every album and band I love. Late 80s to mid 90s epitaph was banger after banger after banger or some of the more obscure stuff that these young kids don't know about. These kids on this other channel were driving me nuts with their epitaph rating system videos but they had clue about some early epitaph classics. They didn't do their homework.
44 yo who actually likes most iterations of AFI. Yeah they don’t play true punk after 98 but I still think they’re pretty cool
there are always some good moments and brings a big smile on my face, when I listen to this ! thanks.
Lessgooooo!!! I'm doing my job then!
This ep needs some love. Over Exposure 👌🏼 th-cam.com/video/MITqqXh911A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BPrqu2Lo6sv-UDf4
My intro to punk was about time. Friends didn't like all the metal I listened to so I walked into a record shop, went through racks and racks of cds. Left with pennywise - about time and ice cube - raw footage.
Ice Cube > Metal
Is Punk really making a resurgence? The skinned head gives me pause, tho.
Davey did a hardcore/punk project in the mid 2010's or so called Xtrmist, you guys might dig that.
Thank you for saying this. Xtrmst is often forgotten about. So raw, so good. I use it as a tool to help with sobriety.
I've never heard of this! I'll check it out!
Goddamn love AFI! Still haven't really gotten into their last release Bodies, but I'm an old school fan but dig most everything they have done.
Can’t endorse this one bud. Yeah, love the upper upper north bay stuff and connections with Tiger Army, but seeing Havok onstage at Berkeley Square with braces and a belt, it was over
You like what you like 🤷🏻
You’re make me want to dig up old afi vids!
Then do it!!!
So Proud of You, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, All Hallows EP are the albums I listen to a lot I like everything even up until Sing the Sorrow (it's a guilty pleasure) lol
Anthems for insubordinates
30 foot fall an all time fave. Those early nitro samplers were 🔥 for discovering bands
Agreed and agreed! Love me som le 30ftFall
Great show, thank you, gentlemen!
Heck yeah man, more to come!
If AFI is going to be at Grand Rapids for the Linkin Park tour, I'm all in. Unfortunately they will not be there. That sucks! AFI is a band that I would like to see. AFI's early work is great, but I love the 00s material even more, with the exception of Crash Love. Love the goth post punk albums they did in the 10s. All Hallow's EP is one of the best EPs of all time! They did not sell out. They changed their sound and were going to play whatever they wanted. Even if I don't like Crash Love, they did whatever they wanted with their sound. I'm anticipating a new album this year.
Love to see another Grand Rapids homie out here 👊 You should check out the D-bloc show over at the four star theater on Feb 22 if your into more local hardcore!
@danielbazzy that's cool 😎 I'm actually from Kalamazoo. It's about 45 minutes to an hour from where I live. I've got family over near Grand Rapids. Some of them are also in Detroit. My mom grew up in a small town Wayland. We pass it whenever we go to Grand Rapids. I was just there at the outlet mall today. About Kalamazoo, it's the home of the Western Michigan Broncos. Basically a college town. So lucky to live here. I got the Promise which paid 95% of my college. I took full advantage of it by going to Kalamazoo Valley Community College and then transferring to Western. I graduated last year with a degree in communications. I'm an alumni. I never went to this place unfortunately because I was young, but Kalamazoo used to have a club called Club Soda, which was the place to go and see a show. It opened from the early 1980s until 2007. A lot of artists and bands played at Wings Stadium before Van Andel was around. Kalamazoo was the perfect pit stop to play a show. We also had the State Theater, but that closed down this past November. We're waiting for someone else to buy the theater so that we can keep it. There's also Bell's Brewery, where they do some shows as well. In fact, they've finally got Emo Nite to come here at Bell's. They were here in July and October. And they're coming back in February. I haven't gone to see any of the local bands in Kalamazoo unfortunately, but someday I hope to see them.
To each their own, they should have changed their name bc they became a completely different band. But I don't think insaid they "sold out" did I? Maybe.... I don't remember saying that tho
@@thepunkrockreview I was just pointing out my opinion of them. If you ask some fans or more likely haters of the band, they would say that. AFI did sell out. But I don't believe that.
@@takodabostwick8507 I agree that they’ve got good stuff from all across their catalog. It’s really cool to see a classic band who wasn’t afraid to explore all sorts of different styles of punk from skate punk to Post hard-core to postpunk I saw them live in 2018 and the different styles that they’ve explored really made for a fun live show experience and Dave did do that thing where he walks out onto the crowd like Iggy Pop and they definitely still give their early material love at least when I saw them playing all sorts of shit from the more skate punk days to even all hallows
O man. I just saw them for the first time in 2022. Worst pit injury I've ever got. Broke my fukin back. Hahaha. They have changed, but Davy is still 100 about his craft.
No Use has always been one of those bands that I want to like because i love every band they were affiliated with... but they just didn't do it for me. I like the song for Fiona but I prefer the Tim Mcilrath cover of it.
