This is gonna sounds cheesy AF but its true... I made a conscious decision about 6 months ago to choose punk over politics (specifically regarding Duane Peters though The Defiant applies as well I guess). Punk has always been here for me, and though politics was always tied into it somehow over the past several years politics weaseled its way in front. I am trying to take an honest look at that punk/politics relationship now.
So, in case anyone cares about 1 random guy on the internet's feelings over this...here goes... I didn't even know about the Dicky Barrett vaccine thing, but I have to be honest I didn't have much patience for anti-vax folks during the height of covid. Happy to hear this discussion because it has opened my eyes in a way. I still think ideas like what RFK spouts are dangerous to the public health as a whole but it is an individuals right to make that decision and being skeptical of the government and pharmaceutical companies makes sense (for everyone, not just punks). The Tim Pool connection with The Defiant (even though it's a very loose connection) has me uneasy TBH... but again... I don't know, to each there own I guess. Street Dogs were rad. Good conversation, thanks for having it.

      Thanks for watching!
Lemme preface this with the fact that i am not talking about you or anyone specific. I appreciate your comment and this is my thoughts on it, kind of. Having an issue with someone just bc they are friends or family with someone you don't agree with has always come off as incredibly short sighted to me. How the heck are we going to have discussion, and then move forward, if we can't even associate with people who think different? I dont know Tim Pool and i dont particularly like him (or dislike him, i guess?), but i know he is into punk rock to a degree, so I'm not surprised he knkws people i like. Punks are all about diversity and welcoming everyone, until it's someone they don't agree with. It's weird....
What's the beef with him? I legit know almost nothing about him...

@@thepunkrockreview Totally fair and I honestly agree with your whole statement. That is sorta why I said "to each their own". Like I said I am currently reevaluating my feelings on the whole politics of punk situation... that said my response about Tim Pool is driven primarily by political disagreements so bare that in mind as I go on. Also, sorry in advance for the long reply.
I have never met Tim Pool and I won't claim to be an expert on him so if it's something you would really like to know more about and have the time then watch some of his shows and make up your own mind on all this. I am not trying to change anyone's opinion, this is just mine...
from what I have seen of his show he is pretty far right, not as in an "out and out racist" type of way but he says some pretty hateful things in a very arrogant manner in my opinion, doesn't really give a second thought to anyone who feels differently than him and just looks down on them, minimizes their opinions and talks over them. He has made arguments in favor of the supper wealthy and has defended some members of the proud boys. TBH, he just seems sleazy to me and the funding for his show comes from some sketchy places from what I understand. Basically, Tim Pool is anything but a Liberal/Left Wing type of individual... on the other hand Street Dogs cover Billy Bragg - Power in a Union and Menace - GLC (changing the words to GOP) both are great examples of liberal/leftist views... along with many other examples throughout their records so its just odd to me to see Johnny playing in Tim Pool's studio... that's all. Like I said it just makes me uneasy but to each their own, it's not the end of the world I'm just not sure how I feel about it. If you have the chance watch his stuff and decide for yourself... I could just be another brainwashed liberal, honestly I don't know anymore. For what its worth I would be interested in your opinion.
Regarding him and punk, I did watch one segment of his show where he talks about modern punks and it came off as very opportunistic to me and not relating to anything I have ever known of any punk scene.
He also skates, and as a skater myself I was attracted to him for a minute but he has a weird angle with skating. He once said he was building a skate park so that he could bring a younger generation into conservative politics. I am paraphrasing since I can't find the actual quote now but that's just gross to me, as a skater and as a punk.
So, I guess I would just end by saying I am all for diversity and hearing out other peoples opinions but I also know there are some dishonest actors out there and in my opinion he is one of them... again though that's just me, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.

I watched him for a while and trump one the first time , and then he would wine and say no person on the left will come and debate on my show, so he would book nothing but far fight wing morons to agree with his talking points so they could win the “Culture War” 🤬🤢🤮

@@jamesnordhoff3536 My dude, thank you for chiming in on this. I feel like I am losing my mind with the current state of punk and politics, second guessing myself on stuff like this. Nice to know I'm not alone. Appreciate you!
