Wood Made Here
Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ส.ค. 2019
A small Canadian company finds a fun way to enjoy the harsh cold winters by sourcing, cutting and drying high quality slow growing woods for musical instruments. With a rich history, built on three generations of sawyers this little sawmill is home to a massive collection of woods used in all sorts of stringed instruments. Everything is produced using a small sawmill, and a fleet of wood slicing, chopping, lifting, and grinding machines. Unlike other mills this one is powered by a 20kWh off-grid hydroelectric generator, and a handful of gas generators.
David, eagerly taking the helm of the business from his father, Gordon, in 2019 began prototyping all sorts of eclectic products: cedar saunas, wood speakers, and large piles of wood chips. Research and development quickly escalated. One day, a container arrived from Germany carrying a 2-tonne, computer-controlled, self-feeding, wood stove.

Cutting Logs in Half Because They’re Too Big
Ah the satisfaction of finding a piece of wood that instantly reveals what it could be
One match and that house or whatever will be the biggest campfire known to man 😭
Not bad. Keep practicing. You'll get there.👍
This is such a beautiful thing to see ❤
I was worried... I thought i had been suckered into a crappy pakastani tap tap, tack, tap tap, tack, tap tap tack BS welding video minus the Sandals... LOL..
I hope you are relieved. Just remember you can stop watching whenever you want.

This is so underrated keep up the good work man you have a talent
Thank you
This is so underrated keep up the good work man you have a talent
I hope the wood was properly dried and had not too much residual humidity.
Yes it did, the number of days in the shop was more like months. The years of air drying outside was accurate though.

Can you make a violin out of any semi-hard wood?
@@justapurplefedora2455 you can i guess… would any luthier? No. Spruce top and maple back. That’s the short answer
That ain’t a log that’s a whole ass tree
Dont let him fool ya..he's Stradivarious.....great great great grand son...a true master...
30 years of data! Hell yeah!
I like that wood splitter that you're using at 3:47. Is that something you built yourself or did you buy it? Can you show it again in a bit more detail?
Ya Mike and I built it ourselves. I have a bit more of a specific video on it already. The Halloween special is a bit silly but we show the build in that video.

@@MountainVoiceInc Great thanks!
Nice looking wood!
It’s great stuff. Satisfying to split.
I live vicariously through you guys. I know you have a business to run, but I’d like more videos
Nice
Very nice
Freaking beautiful pieces of spruce
Ya they are beautiful.
I cut some flamed sycamore for guitar caps, I cut them 4Q to start with as when I had previously cut caps at 1/4" they warped really bad while drying. I am after a rainbow poplar log with some reds and purples in it for guitar caps and bodies. I am assuming you are cutting acoustic guitar tops, I make solid body guitars.
Ya acoustic tops here. We also cut electric body blanks from poplar, fir, birch, pine. Anything cool. The acoustic tops need to be stacked just right in order to not warp, it’s really finicky. I have found a different method since that is more reliable.
Goodness how beautiful
No doubt it was heated to kill off fungus. Before using
How many splinters do you get a day😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
F the shit talkers,do ya craft brother
they're not hating on thet craft, they're having skepticism that they randomly found wood in such a nice condition.
@@かちゅで please read the description of the video...
I live near spruce pine NC i can get you lots of this😅
Beautiful
Pop off seiji amasawa
Might be one of the most impressive showcases of craftsmanship I’ve ever seen
I'm a professional cutler, and the sharpness of the tools is extremely gratifying to witness
Impressive build!
Love watching luthiers work
the g is slower the standard 090 whoich cuts faster then g model with 36 bar will blow 500i out i rip all the time the asiain countreis rip hard with 070 and clones
unless the cut is wide, like really wide. or really hard weird wood. but ya the g is slower chainspeed, but if chainspeed is what matters then 090 and 070 are still slower than a 500i...
@@MountainVoiceInc that chain speed would make a difference. i would off cut that on one side only not cut both sides he could off done with he 090g but he held back
Ngl forgot what I was watching for a bit.
Casualty sticking your hands into snake paradise. Nice!
Its beautiful
See what having love for your craft can do? I get tired of people just rushing through things not caring how the end result will be. Such beautiful work and us as a people have so much potential for amazing things but the love for your work is slowly leaving everyone and it’s sad to see. We can be so much better if we just gave our all and loved our work. We all have different skills and passions for a reason. To work together as a society, not to be the same. Love is amazing when done right
So much care with the wood. But what’s the finish?
+Sprus does it mean "From Prussia"!:)
Wow, thats a beautiful piece right there.
Ya, it sure is.
If my uncle was around today. He would’ve loved your channel. He loved making violins more than anything in the world
AI
yeah lets build a violin out of wet wood, itll be fine!
my ass can make abeter violin
I had a good laugh the other day. Someone said, "Why can't we make a new Stradivarius?" Making an exact copy of the original Stradivarius violin would not be a Stradivarius violin because the original was made by Mr Stradivarius. He seems to be dead. Even if you manage to make a violin equal to or even better than an original Stradivarius, it still would not be a Stradivarius . People need to understand history.
He made that in 60 seconds? W😮W
Oh man I threw away a whole ass old wooden piano
hmmm...
Hoomans are amazing
Wait is the patterns on the inside??
I built a guitar the other day. It sounds like total shite but it looks nice
