It’s hard to say. Probably it has had a fairly big impact on many bc mills. For us we use very few trees and only local ones and so far have been quite fortunate with fires. However competing for logs with large hungry mills is a bit challenging.
It’s hard to tell without getting close now that it’s stained black. But that’s a knot. I have been told it looks like someone took a chisel too it, but that’s just what the tree was doing right there. It does give the eye something to look at though maybe it does add artistic value.
