i watched this to try and quickly catch up on shadow lore and whatever shadow crumbs i can find, i really like his development in recent years with as you said him being caring towards his friends. As someone who doesn't own the games but have played them somewhere over 5 years ago in primary school, i never thought that any of sonic's friends or other characters (other than team dark) were really his friends. But its fun knowing now hes more caring and does consider them his friends.

I think there's a reason why Mephiles isn't remembered. In fact, all of Sonic 06's events isn't remembered by most of the cast. For instance, during a Q/A for the game, a Twitter user asked Sonic on "How's Elise?" And his response was "I'm sorry, who?". Also, with the plot hole on after Blaze sacrifice herself to contain Iblis within here, and why nobody acknowledges her reappearing in later Sonic entries, The creator officer for the series said that everyone had amnesia. I think this a clue onto a potential video game focusing on Silver. After all, his overall existence in the series up til now is paradoxical and he was able to be remembered as a time traveler, and it would be a good opportunity to answer unresolved plot threads on who exactly Silver is. Imagine, that they take the branching story levels like they did with shadow the hedgehog, but Silver is able to traverse through branching timelines in the story obtaining information other branching timelines, like you would see in the Zero Escape games and ai the solemn files.
