She works overtime to "evoke evocation" and not to be the "literally 1984" guy but I do think it borders on doublespeak the way she can deny responsibility or culpability for something while patting herself on the back for doing that exact thing. Really not looking forward to the possibility of 4-8 years of America's wine aunt in office.

Similarly, the 'White Ribbon' movement calling to stop violence against women implies that only violence towards women matters, even though men are overwhelmingly more the victims of violence including murder (75 to 80% committed by men, 20 - 25% committed by women).

Black man here....i agree with your title...but it's like when you do a math problem and do the wrong work and get the wrong answer. A headline of protest is supposed to grab attention. People saying All lives matter are saying that protest doesn't matter. Black live matter is a cry for a attention... not attending to reason for the protest is going against the protest. Dr King said call for the civil treatment of black people and white Americans took that as a threat to their imposed superiority. People will always have problems with wording. That's why we have lawyers. Black lives matter is racist based on it's actions and platform.

I always heard BLM making the case that "NOT ALL Black Lives Matter", because they could've saved so many black people in neighborhoods with tons of gang-violence but instead they ignored those and focussed exclusively on blacks who were killed by police, which are an overwhelmingly tiny statistic.

  • @dalivanwyngarden3204

It is meant in the context that of course all lives matter, but that's not the focus of the movement. Movements wouldn't work if you would compare all the individual values, there is no consensus on all topic even in the smallest group of people. In BLM there might be liberal and conservative black people together who want to have a change. But using this movement for other points is when it gets absurd. Like greta Thunberg used the Fridays for future movement for a political statement of the Palestine Israel conflict. There are confused people in the BLM movement, but the fundamental idea about it should be only about embracing this topic. Not devoting others to empower yourself over them. This is where it gets absurd because suddenly your own movement is against you, because they arrange a total sets of values that you have to fit in. And people use these movements for their own intentions. Its the same with the attack on Israel, why in the world would your say on this event "free Palestine", of course Palestine matters, but the context is the current attack on Israel. Saying white people matter after a black guy gets killed by the police is still valid, but not important for the case itself. Other wars or conflicts shouldn't get less important, although I know that people can't be aware of all problems at the same time or they don't even recognize some as a problem due to their own set of values. I guess I care of the BLM movement and also for all the lives that vanish in Israel, Palestine, Ukraine and russia, Iran, the rain forest, Sri Lanka, America etc. It's not my direct task to fly to these countries and fix these problems but I acknowledge them. People of course tend to prioritize topics that are closer or more personal than others far away, I think that is quite natural. Though the world would be completely different if it wasn't like this. And why people even care about the origin, skin color or religion. That doesn't get into my mind. I don't care, would be to much energy wasted to nothing anyway.

Yeah but BLM isn’t being used to improve black lives. The people at the top are using it for profit and ignoring black deaths that aren’t caused by white people. The group itself was created to divide people by race.

So you missed the 70s and the ‘Black is beautiful’ era. It was a movement to get black representation in fashion. It wasn’t demanding that white people be removed or that they are not beautiful. It simply says that black lives do matter and that people should be aware the fact that they are targeted disproportionately by the law. It seems that you don’t apply any historic understanding to the subject matter.

If you say you stand with something that wants to destroy the other that means you picked a side. Which is fine. Just don’t expect Israelis to like you if you say you stand with hamas and vice versa. If you don’t think blm is the same ask the people that got shot for saying all lives matter. Or god forbid the federal investigation into “it is okay to be white”. And then there’s their quip that “ no lives matter unless blm” meaning everyone’s importance hangs from the importance of blacks. This is a fine point of view for an angry black activist. Without the violent movement of blm the simple statement of blm just requires the response of “well no shit?”.
