One of the musical items made for the 1984 World Championship, this one focusing on the final.

Ray Reardon v Alex Higgins 1976 World Championship
มุมมอง 22K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Last 3 frames of the final, in which Reardon motors away after trailing 10-11. It was a tournament beset with venue, promotional, referee and table problems. Incidentally, Ray Reardon is 91 years old today!
Matthew Stevens v Stephen Hendry - Northern Ireland Trophy 2005

2005 final. A rematch of the World Championship quarter-final which Stevens won 13-11 earlier that year. The video has been upscaled with interpolated frames to improve on the Youku version.
Dickie Davies - Steve Davis & Friends

RIP Dickie Davies.
(incomplete) Ray Reardon v Doug Mountjoy - 1981 World Championship Semi-final
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
I only have the second and third sessions of this match. The match is probably most famous for Doug Mountjoy's record championship break of 145, but the other frames were mostly fragmented and scrappy. I've added Ray Reardon's loser's interview at the end which I got from another source. Mountjoy eventually won 16-10.
Peter Ebdon v Darren Morgan - Masters 1996

Just the conclusion of the final frame, plus a few bits in the studio with Dougie Donnelly.

Dave Harold v Darren Morgan - 1993 Asian Open
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
A frame from the final held in Bangkok. Harold was ranked 93rd in the world when he won this title, and I think he is still the lowest ranked player to win a ranking tournament. He beat Stephen Hendry in his L16 match, and went on to win this final comfortably 9-3.

Just remember these tables were not the perfect fast cloths of today, the nap was not perfect either, you had to work the ball, today is very forgiving and you can play with little power to get results.

For some reason I can't remember the quarter finals, but watched Hendry's 2nd round match at the Crucible Steve Longworth. It was Hendry's 2nd visit to the Crucible having lost the previous year 10-8 to Willie Thorne who he played again in 87 in the first round, but this time won 10-7. I was lucky that year I went on to see both semi-finals and final.

Watched it live 42 years ago. Game has changed since. But it is also at the Back of higher quality and precision of equipment as well. Balls, for example, being of a totally different and superior material now.

Anybody else notice how hard Jimmy seems to be breathing following that first frame ? One can only imagine how stressful it must be to play top-level snooker. And that missed yellow in frame two, after the sublime red to the left-middle : well, it just seemed to sum up White's career to me. Snooker's Stirling Moss.

I've been watching this on and off over the last several days. I was just 18 years old when this game was played now I'm an old guy who's more than half blind and can hardly even make out the color of the balls. Even so, the final frame still sent chills down my spine. I think this game will be admired for as long as there are humans around to admire it.

Let's not forget to mention, Mr David Icke there, back in his sports presenting days, before donning a purple shell suit and proclaiming to be the son of god. Whether you think he's a bit of a whacko or not, from a financial perspective what he did was a stroke of genius. Back then he was on about £25k GBP a year salary as a BBC presenter. Had he not done what he did, maybe today he may be beavering away hosting some obscure radio show on a Sunday evening with about 200 listeners, boosted by a £15k a year BBC pension. Now he's worth about £10m. Good on ya Dave.

Whatever happened to players putting the rest back? I consider it to be rude to expect the referee to do so - the ref is not your dogsbody, ref is in charge (refer any dissenters to Nigel Owens or Clive Norster, if he's still alive!

I must share this Ray Reardon story. I watched all his matches at the Pontins Professional and pro-am in I think 1982. He had been drawn on a public table upstairs and asked the referee for an extended spider. ‘ we dont have one ‘ said the referee. Ray said ‘ you will have to get me one as I am not playing the shot without it’. Someone was sent downstairs to the pro tables, took them 10 mins to come back with the extended spider. The first thing Ray said was ‘ I don’t think I will use it now’. Everyone laughed. Of course he did use it. I think he played John Parrot later and had to give him 30 points start, and got to the final of the pro tournament . My favourite player, and so approachable in the bar in the evening.

These players were fortunate stephen hendry lost his drive to be at the top.
