I think almost all of the Michael Bay Transformers were a bit overdesigned. Granted I've never been the hugest transformers fan, but the coolest part to me was the transforming, like seeing the car parts switch into robot parts. But in the live action movies there are a ton of parts that seem to come out of nowhere, and personally I wish more of the characters had less random metal sticking out. Probably not a popular idea, but that's how opinions go.

This Shockwave was a literal high intelligent brusier, he used his tactics to put limits to the Autobots with or without his Driller. Also Shockwave got rid of Optimus, to make vulnerable the Autobots and capturing them. If it weren't for Wheelie and Brains the mission would have failed for the Autobots and humans. All this thanks to Shockwave.

I share your opinions of Shockwave. He was one of may favorites back in the 80s (Soundwave was the best). His design was great in the movie. Apart from Megatron, he was much better designed visually then the rest of them. I can hardly tell them (Deceptions) apart in the movies. I mean they all look the same.
