G1 soundwave was always my favorite. But I thought the Satellite design was actually the best idea. I think it fits his character better that the G1 in the same way G2 Tank gemmation is complained the puny G1 pistol. So Satellite Soundwave design is my favorite, and i with it stayed that way.

I never disliked Bayverse Shockwave but you made me apricate him a lot more.

I was 6 years old when I watched the first movie, and Soundwave became my absolute favorite character right away, followed by Scorponok, then Barricade, THEN all of the other characters( I've always been a big fan of the villains in anything.) Soundwave was the first toy that I got and the only thing I was disappointed by was that I couldn't transform him back and forth between robot and satellite. I also got Barricade and I spent hours rewatching scenes of him transforming just so I could learn how to transform him, and I would pause the movie, transform the toy, then unpause and play along like I was part of the movie. Sorry, my whole childhood in relation to Transformers just came back to me.

I wish we got more Shockwave and actually see him fight a autobot and maybe even kill one of the wreckers. I also wish he was in that scene in Africa with the other decepticons

I've always loves DOTD Shockwave! I'm surprised to hear anyone would ever complain about the undisputable greatest shockwave adaptation. It's the only reason I ended up deep diving into his characters to the point of becoming one of my top 10 favorite transformers. Not just deceptions. Top 10 total!

24:10 -- I'd like to point out in general that unless we are quite literally talking about Optimus Prime and Bumblebee specifically; all of the color schemes of every other Transformer have been muted to some degree. They try to resist this trend when designing Ratchet, as Ratchet has always had striking color schemes (and tbh, why wouldn't you? He's the Autobot Medic and less of a fighter; its better for both humans and Autobots that he can be picked out of a crowd near instantly), but... Bottom line, I think it's a CGI cut-corner. I dont really have any evidence to prove it?? But considering that the moderate-to-severe dulling of the color palette is visible across the board for all Transformers, except for what you might consider the most marketable/reusable ones (and Megatron of course, being his own exception to the rule since he's always been grey or steel-colored); I genuinely think that crazy colors may pose some sort of difficulty to the animation process -- considering also the fact that in both of your defense videos, you've highlighted a lot of controversy in production of the movies and other more massive corners that were cut in favor of higher quality CGI; it makes sense to me.

I like how all the complaining about this video got him more views and money. I think he intentionally had a hot take with all the goofy atuff he edited in it. The whole video of skipper was a dumb joke

Basically from what happened here, that Skipper guy should've change the title to "I HATE GODZILLA FOR NO REASON (AND I MADE A HALF HOUR OF BASELESS ARGUMENTS TO MAKE IT SOUNDS PLAUSIBLE)".

I'll admit, I just don't like the live-action Transformers. But you managed to convince me of something; not that people were wrong about Shockwave, but to watch the Bayverse Transformers, simply because it's clear some of these Decepticons get just treatment for their characters. I'd just like to point out something crucial about Shockwave, which you've been doing well to highlight in general, but this goes past the Bayverse Transformers. The thing about Shockwave is that since his inception; they've needed to limit his screen time. When Megatron begrudgingly needs leadership thats not preoccupied or someone has been working his shaft; he calls on Starscream, but when Megatron needs something about an operation to be handled, without fail (that doesnt involve Spyware, something another Decepticon has in spades)? He always calls for Shockwave, instead... When being fought; he's needed to go down quickly in many ways. Not because hes weak or not one fighter, but because the Autobots know he needs to be dealt with and taken out of the fight earlier -- almost as if reflecting the Devs knowledge of Shockwave and knowing this needs to happen. Because Shockwave has always been cold, calculating, logical and a menace in his own way. But there's something worse about Shockwave's overall character that you've you've doing well to characterize... *Shockwave is and has always been a competent Decepticon.* ... think about every scheme of the Decepticons. Think about the Autobot struggles. Could you imagine how badly the story would unravel if it was handled competently, or by competent Decepticons? Last time Shockwave got to spearhead a Plot -- he fucked with Time, and made it so that he was once a Prime, made Megatronus the strongest Prime, and made it so that the Decepticons were an inevitability with the Universe... ... and people who write Transformers just can't let shit like that keep happening! Which is why Shockwave gets such little screentime, and always get bodied so quickly -- he's a great character and they like him, but he just can't be allowed to do all the things he wants to do.

I really like this shockwave but I feel like he was missed potential, I feel like he could’ve been a main antagonist for a future movie instead of the meh plot of the 4th movie

love these defene videos! as far as Dino goes, however, i've read that his death being changed was becouse of the same reason we never saw him transform up close, and why his transformation was always obstructed by other characters and surrounding objects- their deal with Ferrari. the car compny had really strict guidelines for the character they provided the altmode for. part of the deal was them choosing the voice actor, to make sure the character has an authntic italian accent, as well as not allowing to show their vehicle being "broken up" by transformation. porsche had the exact same demand for Mirage in rise of the beasts, it's kinda funny it happened specifically to him in both live action continuities. i do like the idea that the film makers removed the scene out of respect for the VA tho, jut wanted to throw in some trivia
