    Thanks for the video. Well done. I got this same stove at Walmart at least 10 years ago and it has never let me down. My only criticism is that it is a little heavier than other ultralight stoves and doesn't have a self-igniter. That being said, I'd highly recommend this stove for general backpacking use. I recently got a iMountek Ultralight stove from Walmart but haven't used it enough yet to rate it.

    Great review of the Cuda HD; especially from a 5 year perspective. How skinny can the yak get? I fish the marshes in the upper Texas coast and I find myself in water as low as 6". Also, how does the Cuda do paddling against strong currents. Is it sluggish or does it cut through the current nicely? Thanks in advance.

    • @TopsailOutdoorAdventures
      @TopsailOutdoorAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      It does a great job in skinny water. I regularly fish the back of the creeks off the ICW which is loaded with oyster shell and very shallow, especially at low tide. In strong current it does well and tracks true. Of course, you would get more glide out of a longer hull. I have really beat the heck out of it to, and it's held up well.

    Hi friend, great video! I especially like the focus on exposure. It’s so fun and enjoyable to talk about knives and all the fun gear we love, but seems like a hat or jacket or space blanket, and to your point a way.. 0r 3 :)) to make fire is what will save you out there! Spot on brother. I keep pretty much the same gear on me as my EDC when out there, I just add a Victorinox classic and a whistle to my keychain. I also like to carry the small single “AAA” streamlight in my 5th pocket, right next to the Victorinox Farmer. If i get stuck out there overnight, especially off trail It will be nice to have a small and lightweight light. They are inexpensive and work well too! Take care 🤠🤜🇺🇸

    Good review! I used to live in Hubert for a number of years, so not far from your area. Love the Solo stoves. I've got the Bonfire and the Lite. I'm thinking about this one as the Lite eats like a starving teenager and uses really small media. This one looks like it eats a bit too but you can use bigger media. Eh, we use these because we like fire right? A certain amount of tending is expected....thanks for putting this together!

      I get up around Bear Island/Hammocks Beach, Swansboro and Emerald Isle quite a bit. Yes, they do require tending, but not a problem if you have dry fuel, which as you know is plentiful around these parts. Having used both the Titan and Lite, I definitely prefer the Titan.

    Ditch the red plastic decoration along with the black knob, and underneath you will find that it is a Bluet made in France. Blue knob and all. Makes sense as Coleman bought Bluet a few years back. The burner head can be removed by prying the spring clip with your fingernail and then it will all lay flat with a Bic lighter in the smallest of Wallyworld's crayon boxes not much bigger than a cigarette pack.

    Another hack: Use tree trimming loppers to cut thumb sized dry twigs, just long enough to gather and set inside the stove and stay below the inside holes. Gather them in a bundle and place them inside the stove, then shoving some into the stove bundle to make it tight, inside the stove. Put the stove, with bundled twigs, in the bag. It’ll carry and be ready for a piece of Vaseline cotton, when time to light on top, in the center. If you’re truck camping, take the loppers or small saw to cut more big twigs. Use a tripod or a grill, for stews, chili and grilled food. I usually let some big twigs/limbs burn down to coals before grilling. Kentucky

    I collect all kinds of camping and Backpacking stoves. Own the SOLO Titan and the original SOLO Lite. Love them !! I, too, pack in wood for times of possible rain. Some places restrict you from bringing in non native wood, so I carry a dry bag of Hickory chunks (not the small chips) that I buy at Walmart in the Weber BBQ section. They are not restricted because they have been processed to food grade cooking standards. You do,, however need to know if a fire ban is actively in place. For those times I carry a Canister-style Primus CRUX Stove. Thanks for the review of the SOLO Titan.

    I must say that your review just sold me on buying the Coleman Peak 1 Stove. I had looked at it in Walmart over this last weekend and wanted to see some reviews before seriously considering it. Own two of the Primus Crux Stoves and love them! However, I'm in Florida and they are back home in Georgia right now. Buying a third Crux stove seemed like an unnecessary expense for my kayaking and fishing day tripping. My cookware is STANLEY Cook Sets of various sizes and styles. Occasionally I'll take a small Cast Iron skillet too. It would seem that the Coleman Peak 1 is perfectly suited for that type of cooking. Going to head back to WALLY WORLD and grab 2 of them for that price point and still be under budget for what a (3rd) Crux would cost me. Thanks for the great review. Safe and Happy Kayaking To You!

    Here in Utah, we have Aspen trees in abundance. Aspen is a great fuel for twig stoves. It is east to harvest, east to split, ignites quickly. When I was in eastern Tennessee I tried some hardwood in my Canway twig stove and honestly I was surprised that Aspen will last equally as long as the hard stuff. My twig stove would quite possibly be one of the last preps I would be willing to give up.
