Detailing In The New Shop 2020 Ford Edge
Hello and welcome back to Josh Jecklin Detailing!
In this video I do a premium in & out detail on my wifes car. Im still getting settled into my new detailing shop so I'm practicing detailing in the shop seeing what needs to be done so that I can detail vehicles better and make higher quality videos.
#1 I need better lighting
#2 I need to organize my shop so that all my tools have their own dedicated area that is very close to the vehicle to optimize.
Hope you enjoy the video!

    What’s the brand of the new pressure washer

    • @JoshJecklinDetailing
      @JoshJecklinDetailing ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! It’s an “easy kleen” 3.6GPM 5HP 240v electric pressure washer. It costs $2500 CAD. It’s insanely powerful and overkill. You can probably run 2-3 wands off of it. I never have it at full power it’s honestly scary and the water coming out of the tip is so loud you need ear protection. I just really wanted a crazy powerful pressure washer for a very long time.

    1. Leave the doors open, your waisting so much time opening and closing. 2. Don't need that big brush for door jams, apc and and microfiber cleans just fine, maybe have an old beet up detailing brush for the hinges. Do them one time and move on. You went to the same door jams 3-4 times, waisted moves again. Limit your movement in any way possible.

    14:00 That someone was me! You still dont have the right clamps, the ones you have are cumbersome with the swivelling jaws (it's not required in the application of clamping a seatbelt!) & the swivell tends to fail/fall off (as presented in this video). It doesnt hurt to listen, so im gonna throw you a bone - get the right tool for the job & you save time: ANVIL 3/4 in. Mini Spring Clamp - Up to 3/4 in. clamping capacity - Equipped with non-marring vinyl tips - Nickel plated steel clamp body resists corrosion - Long-lasting tempered steel spring - Clamping strength 14 lbs. 6pcs for 6$ - I have been using them for years now, never had a problem & you only need ONE PER SEATBELT (Clamping strength 14 lbs!)! Fun facts: a seatbelt retractor retracts a seatbelt with 1.4-5.1 lbs of force! Your Welcome!

    • @JoshJecklinDetailing
      @JoshJecklinDetailing 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davidb.havissr.8448 hello great question! The name of the steamer is model: “carmen super inox” and the brand is Dupray. It’s pretty pricey and honestly a bit big and bulky but it is powerful and it can be extremely useful with the vacuum option. Steam extracting is pretty nice it can be tricky with the size of the attachments but it works great. If you do actually buy one get the 240v model. It’s needs 240v power it is availible in 120v but you will be very disappointed with the 120v version. I have the 240v model it works great and for how much better it is it’s not much more money. Basically the 120v model you can’t use the steam and the vacuum at the same time so that makes 0 sense. I do want a smaller steamer for lighter duty tasks with detailing. I’m looking at a $200-$300 steamer from Dupray.

    I highly recommend you take a IDA certification program , this will save you time and money , plus give you the skills you need . This will help you avoid insurance claims .I like that you are trying and thats great but so so many issues that if you got the wrong client it may cost you a ton of cash , and bc you are screwed in the courts system . Far to many issues , I love that you are trying and eventually you will get there , To save you time on exterior wash Just use Bilthamber Touchless, cleans with out even a contact wash this will save you time and money , another great product for you glass is Bilthamber trace-less , for your interior please throw away the chemical guys leather cleaner it a below average product and overpriced , koch Chemie leather star is much better and overall less expensive , plus koch chemie gs (green star ) gives class leading interior cleaning which comes in a concentrate for dirty jobs 1:5 ration up to 1:20 ratio, for areas such as pedals, floor mats etc use koch chemie Gummi fix. I do believe you live in canada so a great place to get your detailing supplies would be Carzilla . Ca . Hey we all start somewhere and learn , make mistakes and learn from them, ,are sure you have insurance that's a must as when you get bigger better jobs like your Bentley ,Rolls-Royce , Ferrari , and so fourth you need to cover all aspects , but what's crazy the more expensive the car the more money you make but they are the easiest to clean , but when you do the dodges , Hondas and soccer mom vehicles the less you make , 10 times dirtier and they harder to please.

      @JoshJecklinDetailing just keep on learning , if I recall ps should be applied with a brush and allowed to dwell for 20 minutes then go back with a Terry cloth to level the product . In time you will find what works for you and the products that actually work yet save you money. the biggest thing is being organized, at my shop each station has 3 detailing trolleys they are 3 different colors 1 cart is exterior, 1 cart is interior, and 1 is for polish/ correction. And each have there own colored brushes and micr fiber cloths. Once you are organized your flow will be so much better . Another great item to have is auto measure , for chemicals , as using to much makes the job harder , cost more in money and time. Even now I still take course once a year to keep up on all the latest developments in detailing , the best thing I ever did was get my IDA certification, last year i did the rupes advanced training class

    • @JoshJecklinDetailing
      @JoshJecklinDetailing 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s all just what you prefer for me. Some floor mats have soo much dirt in them. It “feels” better to give them a quick blast before drill brushing. So basically if you don’t think the drill brush can effectively clean the floor mat because there’s too much mud, sand or grime in the floor mat. In that case I like to give it a quick blast with the pressure washer. Then when I hit it with the drill brush it doesn’t seem like I’m just smearing mud or dirt into the mats. Or else you might decide to drill brush twice. Hope that helps

    Josh, you can still use a clay mit bro, maybe you did it before the video but you've got to wash the car properly so nothing is on the surface, then go in with a spray iron remover, like Adams iron remover, after that use the clay mit with proper lubrication, you should be good, also make sure you're rinsing your clay mit after a few panels in some soapy water just to rub anything off. You should be good after this.

    Your a hard worker. My advice is to use the steamer. That way you don’t use too much water. You’re getting the car wetter than needed. Just wipe it down after steaming with a microfiber and doesn’t wet the interior as much. The more water you use the more you have to remove. Water causes mold in a closed vehicle. Only time I use the extractor if there’s a spill of some sort.

      Also using the wrong equipment for the job , far to much product , creating more work then needed , using hlvp gun around dash , not going back and leveling it .this is why I recommend everyone go get a IDA certification .

    What product do you usually use for door jams?

    • @JoshJecklinDetailing
      @JoshJecklinDetailing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@frankieups just a mild APC. I use P&S express interior cleaner. Some door jams are very dirty with grease you might have to use steam and /or a degreaser for that situation but you have to be careful when you do use a degreaser. Because degreasers can tarnish paint and plastic trim. So if do choose to use a degreaser mix it very mild and go from there. Good luck thanks for the comment.

    This is a super weird way of detailing….i doubt anyone cares but this is how i do an interior and get the best results in the best possible time Remove mats, personal belongings Bulk vacuum (if needed) Blow out, wipe down and steam all plastic leather and vinyl One last vacuum Extract carpet/seats and mats Dress everything Windows DONE BRO CLEAN / BLOWTHE CUP HOLDERS AND STEAM EVERYTHING BEFORE VACUUMING, this way your vacuuming everything up at once…never saw anyone clean and blow out the hard surfaces last 😂

      @JoshJecklinDetailing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LaRoseDetails thanks for the comment. I wasn’t blowing surfaces out with air. I was shooting APC in the small cracks with the Tornador Max and a siphon tube that goes to a bottle of APC. The chems/air cleaning gets into the hard plastic crack really well. Thanks for the tips.

    Love these videos Josh, keep up the good work. I find that most detailers over rely on the Tornador, it's a great tool that has it's uses but I don't like to use it EVERYWHERE. I also find that when using Super Clean it helps to twist the nozzle on the sprayer a bit to reduce the misting action and make it a bit more like an irregular stream. Keeps my airway happy! Glad to be your newest subscriber, man, looking good!

    what do you use to record? Gopro I guess. But how do you manage to record for 4h? how long it took to load the video?

      I use a gopro10 I think. With a wide angle lenses. Yes I record the entire 4 hours +/- and then edit the video in premier pro and a super slow computer 🤣. The editing takes a long time. Then rendering and exporting the video can take a long time. 18-24hours I believe. I haven’t made a video in awhile but I will be back at it asap! The video takes about 1-4 hours to load onto TH-cam.

      @@ziggymartinez2273 I wear gloves when I’m detailing the interior for the chemicals. I usually don’t wear them when I do the exterior but I was in a hurry so I forgot to take them off. They are pointless when you dunk the microfibre wash mitt into the soap bucket.
