There actually is an answer to your questions about Percy, but I'm not sure if I should share it before you get to the end of Season 1.

That whole door scene was a classic in game. Liam was just rolling badly for the lock. They ended up spending a ton of spells to get around it before finding they could have just used a window. It was just classic bad dice rolling, but showing that even the expert rogue still can have a spot of bad luck is fun. It's not an exact recreation, but a nod to it. AND yes, there's a running theme that doors suck. They stop all the best plans in TTRPGs. 🙂 Edit: I swear I made the comment as the scene started before you even asked. 🙂 Edit 2: Percy thought his sister was killed by those arrows, and he was the one telling that story that we got as a flashback. So, a semi-reliabile narrator?

You Hoyos have much more skill than a lot of established Studios. Can we please get entire Episodes? Cooking Valkyries all over again for all I care, but pwease make it happen 🙏🏻

The color of the dragon actually matters! Some types of dragons are often more powerful and they behave/fight in different ways too! Age also is a big factor for dragons, the one in episode 2 is relatively young compared to what other dragons can reach.

Percy is a lot like a cat, imo. You have to let him approach on his own terms, and the worst thing you can do is make him feel foolish. He's capable of great feats of dexterity and cunning, but ...also occasionally falls off the end of the sofa chasing a moth (so to speak) and then lands and tries to casually pretend it never happened. Also, he doesn't function well in water. 🤣But, just like cats, people misunderstand the wariness and watchfulness as uncaring, when it's just that his caring looks different, and takes a while to reach the surface past the defense mechanisms. Actually it's similar to how Vex's care looks different, as you said. I really enjoy how much you get Vex by the way, so many reactors seem to write her off as just "the mean one" and like... no? She's a wonderful character, with a LOT of layers, so it's great when people take the time to think about her a little more carefully. In the campaign Keyleth and Percy have such a lovely, odd friendship, and it's such a strange fit, you'd think they would be opposites, but they sort of balance eachother in a way? Percy being (or trying to be) the embodiment of short-lived humanity and "civilization", and Keyleth, half-elven, barely brushing the soil off her feet when she enters a building like a windswept petal. They're good for eachother. (And of course, Keyleth's nature can be as terrible as a storm, and Percy can be as delicate as a watch mechanism, nobody is ever just one thing.) I love how many visual nods we get to the various relationships (in the broader sense of the word) in the party, mostly without dialogue. Keyleth's PoV camera looking to Percy when she's anxious (we see it in this episode and during the first Brymscythe fight, also during that fight Percy and Keyleth team up a few times in the background). Vax and Grog's prank war. Scanlan butting heads with the twins a little, but still clearly trusting them when the proverbial hits the fan. Pike and Vax having a really sweet friendship. Grog and Pike being buddiiiiies :D They all relate to every other member in different ways, and as a whole they're all stronger next to eachother. You're right, ensembles are difficult, and it's rare to find one where they all fit so well. Those creatures are wraiths, so they would weigh next to nothing, actual skin and bone. Percy is a dex based fighter build with a homebrew subclass ("gunslinger"). Iirc his dex score was as high as his ridiculous intelligence score? Or close to it? Somewhere in the 18-20 range at this point, I think? So he's very clever and bendy, but not very strong. This has been a ted talk, apologies. Really enjoying your thoughtful reactions! Sorry for the wall of text. Believe it or not this is heavily trimmed down from my running thoughts during the episodes 🤣 I just have a lot of love for these characters, okay?

A part of me wants to see moxie and emberlynn meet. I feel like since he likes melodramatic theatre and she likes romance, they get along. And maybe thats how blizo gets rid of her. By having moxie write an ending and have them act out embers fanfic that either gets her to think blitzo is dead or find a guy who into her and pair them off. Then maybe it ends with hinting at blitzo missing stolas.

I feel like Scanlan and Pike are more of a could-have-been. If he'd been a different person, made different choices. And maybe they both feel it. Scanlan flirts with her because he is wistful for a time when maybe he still had that choice, a bittersweet regret of wishing he'd been a better man. But mostly he likes his life.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the unspeakable evil thing Silas and Deliah are kinda couple goals.

In the campaign the "green thing" that Grog is wearing to the dinner is some curtains he took down from their keep. Also you have now met No Mercy Percy as he was called after that episode with the Briarwood's lacky.

Percy is a Gunslinger, which is a class in Pathfinder. When they started streaming their home game they switched to D&D 5e, and Matt Mercer had to create a custom class adapting the gunslinger to 5e.

So in the campaign the dinner scene played out a lot differently because Vox Machina was much more well known and respected by the council as they had done several missions for them instead of just one. The distrust all came down to Silas’ charming and the Briarwoods political savvy as a major trade route rather than any real distrust of the team. Even Uriel’s distrust came as more of an exasperated I’m kind of tire of you shit vibe until they continued to push. If I remember right their behavior at the dinner and the fight after got them suspended from the council, but it was the continued insistence that the Briarwoods had some hold on them that got them banned from the Cloudtop district and under investigation. It’s been a couple years since I’ve gone back and watched the Briarwood arc but I recall Vox really having to be a nuisance about it before they got the kind of extreme response they got in the show. And yes it was well known that Percy’s name was de Rolo. So much so that he showed up to the dinner in disguise

Matt and the group started the game as a home played game amongst them until it they were approached to stream online where they continued with the same campaign. They initially stated using the game called Pathfinder which is pretty much DND. In that they have a class called the gunslinger which is what Talisan (Percy) chose. When they went on to stream the game, they moved to homebrew rules which means they picked from the DND 5e rules and mixed then with rules from the Pathfinder ones. And at the time of streaming I'm not entirely sure if they re-speced their characters or ig they created new ones for streaming all I know is that at the time DND 5e didn't have the gunslinger class so Talisan and Matt being the Master sat down and created a what they call a homebrew character, taking elements from 5e and Pathfinder. Once Critical Role became huge, Wizards of the Coast added the class into DND in the 2014 version of the players hand guide I think. But Percy is made up of 5e and Pathfinder classes I believe.

Honestly I like Emberlynn Pinkle unironically, but I can totally see how people are cringing out when they see her.

yea its kind of an undertone but yea vex and percy have a kinda unspoken thing. As the episodes go on you can she that she is into him and talks to him alot different than the rest of the group.

in game, the safeword was "Jenga", but had to be changed to reasons. there's a probable reason for Scanlan's safeword, but we won't get that until season 3 if at all. Percy is actually one of the weakest members of Vox Machina. I think only Vex has a Strength Score lower than his 12. And that's how they reflect that Ashley Johnson got a role on the Prime Time show "Blindspot"...

I haven't fully watched the campaign 1 livestream. But if I remember correctly Percy and Keyleth are very close friends in it (I mean, they all are but in different ways). They have a sibling-like relationship that isn't as present in the show, mostly due to time constraints, but I'm glad you were able to pick up on some of it.

Percy isn't really a melee guy, but he is a fighter subclass (gunslinger) so he has some fighting ability. And while he's more dex than strength, shadows or wights or wraiths or whatever they are also are INCREDIBLY weak, so it's one of the few times Percy will be stronger than a foe. Let him enjoy it and vent some of these frustrations. 🙂

Percy is weird. They started with a different game, that has a Gunslinger class, when they moved to D&D, Matt Mercer made a Fighter Subclass for him.

I love that you also like Tex! Some reactors when he said he had a girlfriend were all annoyed w him and said he was leading her on. But tbh, he handled everything super well. Loona was clearly nervous and interested in him, so he wasn’t rude to her, not all like “ooo stay away, I have a girlfriend!” He just politely chatted with her, then offhandedly made sure to mention he was taken at the end of the convo so he didn’t lead her on. Then invited her to a party to get her some friends since she mentioned she didn’t have friends. His “let’s get you some friends, girl” line makes me love himmm, he’s such a sweetie!! He also stayed out of the way of Verosika’s drama with Blitzø, as he said, “you’re the hound working for my boss’ freaky ex” (not knowing she’s also his daughter), and assured her it wasn’t weird, and he doesn’t get paid enough to care.

You know what? You're the kinda person who can appreciate quirky and unabashedly cringe edgy and dorky humour, so I'll throw in a reaction recommendation: Murder Drones (full series is available on YT).

I feel like you didn't watch the pilot. Charlie is trying to lower the population in hell because overpopulation is what led to the exterminations. The idea is if you redeem enough of them, it will prevent more souls from getting killed off, not necessarily get them all out of hell. Also I understand pausing some, but I don't think you ever made it more than 10 seconds. It's way too much. It disrupts the flow of everything.
