A good trick to clean the end of the rotor arm, is to rub it on a tyre..The carbon cleans without wearing it down..Also silver cigarette paper is good for removing light rust, say on radio aerials etc...

Those straight 8s were great engines. The exhaust note was unique.

One of my favorite cars ,glad you got it running again…

First thing: all plugs out - plugs in wires and laying on metal. 2nd: A squirt or two of WD-40 or similar in each cylinder. 3rd: turn over engine to verify spark... spark is confirmed and cylinder is lubed... 4th: Squirt (not pour) a few shots of fresh gas in carb... go from there.... Don't abuse the starter motor!

I'm 31, and I miss an era I never experienced. 40s-80s, when things were made sturdy, chunky, resilient, and functional. Literally everything I currently see around me as I look around my room, my house, and the street outside, is just paper mache style of cheap, disposable, replaceable, mostly Chinese-made crap, mostly plastic, and thin aluminum at best when talking about cars specifically. The walls and insulation of my house included, just cheap materials, nothing else is available, even the cars parked outside, generic, boring, safe designs.

I'm in my 70's. But my very earliest childhood memories include riding along with Mom and Dad in our (then nearly new!) 1950's Pontiac! My Dad loved those cars. And the inline 8 cylinder engine was very quiet!

Man I miss my Volvos. Had three 40 series (One 240, One 740, and one 940) and I wish I still had one of them. Best cars ever built and user friendly to work on yourself. I paid 275 for one of them and was my daily driver for over 6 years.

Dude that's just awesome !! It never stops to amaze me how this old cars with a little bit of knowledge anyone can get them back to life
