    What do you think about Antigonon leptopus (Mexican creeper)? Can this flower grow in UK? Thanks ❤

    • @MyGardenAcademy
      @MyGardenAcademy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for your question. This is mostly grown as a greenhouse or conservatory plant in the UK. If you have a warm, sheltered spot outside then you could try it there in the summer. It is not frost hardy and would have to be brought inside and kept above 5 degreesC in the winter. The plant will flower between July to September. It is a very vigorous plant so it is best kept in a pot. Bees do love it and it is a good source of nectar and pollen for them. Hope this helps. Mary 🌼

    Yes Mary, I found this video useful - I am new to actual seed sowing, usually buying annual plants at the garden centre. I have seedlings of Nigella, Californian Poppies, Snapdragons and Calendula, all of which you featured, plus there is also Rudbeckia, Cosmos and a couple of others. I have saved a lot of money sewing seeds as some of the packets were free with gardening magazines! We just need some warm sunshine to bring them on a bit. Thank you for the video.

    • @MyGardenAcademy
      @MyGardenAcademy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So pleased that you found the video useful. Sowing from seed is much cheaper than buying plants, especially now that prices have gone up so much. Glad that you've been able to get some free packets from gardening magazines - they are really useful. Good luck with the seeds and yes lets hope that we get some warmer weather soon! Your garden is going to look lovely.

    I love daisies-- white specifically-- and would like to know what other flowers/colors would compliment them. I also love black-eyed Susans and sunflowers.

    • @MyGardenAcademy
      @MyGardenAcademy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Melissa - white is a great colour and it can be used in any border. White flowers look best with some great foliage plants such as stachys, grey-blue hostas for cool whites. Creamy whites go well with warm greens such as Lady's Mantle. Ornamental grasses are good too. The white daisies would look good with the black-eyed Susans and sunflowers. I have a yellow themed border where I grow black-eyed Susan amongst other yellow flowers. Hope this helps. 😀

      Yes @Michele Z, hollyhocks are an absolute classic English cottage garden plant. I didn't include them in this video as they are often considered to be a biennial or short-lived perennial. They will be in the video coming out shortly on Classic Biennials for a Cottage Garden. 😀

    Anybody who recomends Ladies Mantle will get the thumbs down from me.It is a weed, would you grow dandelions which have nicer fkowers and attractive foliage? I do not think so. The old couple who lived next door to me had Ladies Mantle in their garden, they passed away years ago and I am still digging it up seedlings years later.
