www.billnelson.com/ bill.nelson.54943600 A dreamy piece of video, well the cars move strangely the birds fly oddly and the music has nothing to do with the visuals but I'm a big fan of Bill Nelson and his music seems to fit .I hope he will forgive me. Music from the rare double CD 'CLOCKS AND DIALS' . 1.A TOWN CALLED BLUE TOMORROW. 2.FRANKIE SURFS THE MILKY WAY. 3.SEARCHING FOR AN I...

Used to live in this area,Thank Christ l escaped in 1982.NOTHING, AND NOBODY WOULD MAKE ME GO BACK.
I can never watch the Spinners without thinking of Russ Abbott and friends do a brilliant take off of them as the Spanners.th-cam.com/video/oLpOpTgQLQA/w-d-xo.html
There's a verse that I didn't know about & have never heard sung: Their robes were black, their heads were white The schoolhouse doors were closed so tight Were closed up tight Nine judges all set down their names To end the years and years of shame Years of shame The robes were white, the heads were white (Whistle tune) The verse refers to a landmark US Supreme Court ruling from 1954. The 9 justices of the US Supreme Court ruled on a case known as Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kans. The Court ruled that "separate but equal" would no longer be the law of the land, i.e. U.S. state laws that established racial segregation in public schools were unconstitutional (even if the segregated schools were otherwise equal in quality). That ruling opened up the way for racially-integrated schooling in the USA. The rest of the song makes MUCH more sense now. I for one have learned something about something I thought a simple song from my childhood.
And I'll be off to Porthmadog in a few more days. To a little cottage that is just the other side of the car park to the station, with a view of the Cob. Wonder if Welsh Pony will be restored by then?
I lived in the flats in Bewley Drive shown @ 2min 29sec, we moved there spring 1963. Great memories of my teenage years, thanks for this trip down memory lane.
Wiped footage! (thanks JC, it's your spot, if you're reading), and, of course MASSIVE thanks to the uploader. :)
....bh,😅,
What a fab memory! I was in a folk group at school in the early 70's and we learned this, harmonies and all! All these years later, I still remember the words ... thank you for finding this!
Hello, I am an archive researcher interested in learning more about this clip, please could you reply? YT won't allow me to leave my contact
Oh what lovely memories this bought back, do The Spinners still perform?
Love these guys
Happy days...........beam me back Scottie!
Wow my work is near st josephs church. Its crazy that watching this it led me working their very cool tho
Moved into 17 Medbourne crescent,1954 moved to Australia 1964. Great childhood in Kirkby , good memories I have.
Mate slow the camera down and show the street names, it could be anywhere in Kirkby
Scouse sailors taught me this at sea in '72. They were a rum lot. Without them we wouldn't need fingerprinting and locking wheel nuts. Love from down the East Lancs.
Mick Groves not singing lead? Voice problems?
Absolutely fantastic...tv gold...the late, great, Deryck Guyler...unbeatable...
saw the spinners in concert 4 times during the 70's - great times
My dad loved them ❤
Awesome! Thanks so much for posting! My parents would take us every year the Spinners came to the Theatre Royal Norwich! Always a great show - brilliant musicians and entertainers all of them. A favourite cassette was always the Spinner's English collection that went on the car tape deck every time we took the long drive off on family holidays. Such good memories!
I'm sure I seen my good friend Paul Burke on his bike by the Kingfisher Hotel there.
How I wish I could have been born in the year 1964, instead of in 1969 and also 1964 was the year after classic Dr Who started its debut on tv in black and white wit Bill Hartnell.

Hey, its, "in ME Liverpool home"
One of their best
The Spinners a unique sound that has not changed from when I first met that sound at Gregson's Well Pub at the city end of West Derby road, not old enough to drink legally buy I looked old enough to get in. Thanks for the memories lads, Very sorry that two members are not with us today.
I remember watching their show every Christmas Eve from the Liverpool Philharmonic. Wonderful memories.
Always went see The Spinners when they were in London. Sadly missed now. Wonderful performances and humour, audience always joined in with the songs. We wil never see their like again. RIP Cliff and Tony.
Deryck Guyler was sheer class, it was a shame he occasionally had to lower himself to work with trash like the spinners.😢
Moved to Winsham rd in 1955 when the roads were just clay, Winsham was full of flats then which have since all been demolished. Went to St Joey's then St Kev's.
I always like the spinners music all had meaning nothing like it now
Went to see them in nottingham in the 70s christmas with a friend still remember it well
❤❤
As a kid I saw all the Spinners stuff and many concerts. My Dad was a friend Of Tony Davies and he printed their "Spin" magazine. This brings back amazing memories!
I grew up listening to the Spinners, with .y Dad. Something lovely a out their tone and joy that just makes you feel good
Simply the best! Superb musicians, heartfelt lyrics, could make you laugh and cry.

What about it?
We loved the Spinners went to so many concerts when they were near us. Got a lot of their albums when nostalgic we put them on
I grow up in Thursby crescent behind the Park brow shops thanks for sharing.
Very unforgettable memories back in the olden days
Thank you
Went to see the Spinners a couple of times as a kid with my mum. Loved to watch them on a Saturday night on TV.
Good to hear the original words, including mention of Salford. Pleased to hear the final verse, often dropped by some who are overly sensitive.
What a wonderful group. I have happy memories of hearing them many times in the Sheffield City Hall in the '70's and '80's. The title of this song, THE FAMILY OF MAN, fits in perfectly with the Polished Bronze Sculptures created in 1970 by the late Dame Barbara Hepworth which she entitled THE FAMILY OF MAN. All nine can be seen in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and three of them in Suffolk at The Snape Maltings.
