I enjoyed archery when I was younger, but mainly used a recurve bow. I certainly wouldn’t have the strength to pull a heavy longbow! It’s sobering the damage an arrow from one of them can do, as the French knights discovered to their cost. It’s a great sport, and especially fun to try an outdoor course.

Another subject but as an Englishman I would strongly advise Canada to accept Donald's offer to become a US state. They talk American. They use the Dollar. They are on the same landmass. I doubt if Britain or the Monarchy means much to them these days. They removed the union flag from their flag a long time ago. Any reference to the King is I fear just a gesture now. Anyway so many of them are of French heritage. They would make a great state.

This is during one of the performances that the Royal Marines etc do several times during the summer on Horse Guards Parade, the same area as the Trooping the Colour ceremonies.

I've been watching "Rob's London" videos for a while and I think that this is one of his best. (As to your claim, Mark, to want to watch his posts on London Pubs, I am surprised that you even like that sort of thing,😀😀😀!) (As I previously stated, I do hope that circumstances improve, not only in your State, but in the USA generally!). (And, yes, many years ago, we, my late wife and our children, did indeed wonder along Downing Street, years before it was closed to the general public, sigh!).

Great video Mark. When I have taken American friends to London and shown them Downing St. they can't believe how ordinary it looks. As I point out it's to remind the current Prime minister that they are not the head of state. The monarch is. Although it is deceiving because it is much bigger on the inside. A lot of it underground. When there is a national emergency, these days usually terrorism a government body meets in number 10. It's called COBRA. That means Cabinet Office Basement room A. You couldn't make it up!!!

On my way from Edinburgh to Harwich via London to catch the ferry to Hamburg in June 1976, I killed time between trains by catching the tube to Westminster and having a wander round. It was early in the morning (7.00?) and I was able to walk along Downing Street from Whitehall to Horse Guards Parade: there was not a soul to be seen, not even a policeman on the steps of No. 10. I think I was able to walk it again, with my visiting father, in May 1985, after pedestrianisation, a few years before it was permanently closed off.

Hi Mark- what a despicable being Downing was; nothing changes does it?! Think its his descendant living there now,another despicable being! Seems to have attracted them intermittently over the years. Can't believe he was walking around March to be fair it took me a few seconds to recognise the town hall at the start of the segment. In regards to the drainage of thr the Fens(the marchy area he was talking about and March is built on one of the islands he mentioned) I was always on the understanding the town bridge as its called by the locals is at sea level and the old river Nene under it is below sea level due to the land sinking as the area was drained.

Hi Mark, great video. Yes we took part in the slave trade but so did the Spanish, French and Portuguese and the Americans. It does annoy me when I am told in the 21st century that I who have never owned slaves should pay reparations to people who have never been slaves.

Hi Mark I've just watched a number of videos/blogs put out by TheDailyWoo of his week or so in London last week. You were trying to decide what time of year you might visit the UK so I thought you might like to take a look at his videos made in the cold, shorter, days January. I've worked in many places in London in my time, but he made me look at it again through his eyes and I was often amazed at how much I had taken for granted. So, if your interested, his first one is called 'Arrival In London England - Visiting Big Ben and Walking Around Piccadilly Circus/Underground Tube'. Like you he loves music, likes to visit some of the sites of famous Rock Group photo's, he has no strict Agenda really, just follows his nose - oh and makes great videos.

Our local town hall has proper Roman style architecture with a large statue of Britannia over the main entrance
