This is a little known conflict, glad to see it get more interest.
This was fascinating, im sorry to say id not really heard of this and i enjoy history, i have noticed in several museums local to me there are loads of samurai relics including whole suits of armour and of course swords. It would be interesting to find out if they came from this incident. There is a large navy connection to my area and in most naval battles you can find a ship from the Royal Navy dockyards in Devon.
I really enjoyed this. 🐎👍🇬🇧🇺🇸😁
Right on Smog thank you
That shot of the Emperor Meiji looks like the kind of thing Jaguar ads tries to sell us cars with now! Please don't answer, love your channel and would love it to go on so ignore my remark and keep yt happy. Don't even give it a heart. I mean it. If you saw them I know youd be smiling though.

Hi Mark, I believe there are three US VC winners, I'm not sure if that includes the US unknown warrior, awarded a reciprocal VC at the same time as the British unknown warrior was awarded the Medal of Honor.
Very good Nick thank you
Everyone’s memory declines with age Mark. Including mine! ❤
I don't like it
@ who does? ❤️
William Seeley
Yes so far I remember
Splitters. Those who split from the mother country . 🇬🇧🇺🇲
thank you Ken...I like the nickname
Mark. A 'Splitter' refers to someone who breaks rank or betrays his friends . Hence the Rebel British Colonists in America who wanted to break away from British rule, & turn on their compatriots, family & fellows in revolt, were splitters. You must know that this was far than a majority, & at least as many remained Loyal to Britain, while another third of the colonial population tried to remain neutral in the fight. Many Loyalists were forced out, to take refuge in Canada etc. The British Navy have always worn blue, so 'Bluejackets' is appropriate as a title. Of course as seamen most of their actions were at sea, so they are not so famous for land actions. I'm not so sure of the gear of Marines at that time, but as they came under Navel command, they too wear likely uniformed in blue. Many British ships had a fighting force on board for defensive, & offensive, actions, & these are often depicted wearing the 'usual' Redcoat gear, but whether this represents Marines or regular Army soldiers I'm not so sure.
Awesome thank you Daniel. Splitter...love it
Do you know about the Satsuma Rebellion ? I think Tom Cruise did a some what inaccurate movie on it.
Ah yes the last samurai
@@MarkfromtheStates That would be the movie i was thinking of. Very loosely based on a true event the Satsuma Rebellion of Jan 1877 to Sept 1877.
