What a wonderful tale you found to react to from our history. All this time later I can smile about this 'dreadful' story of dereliction of duty and greed. I think though this is the right time to remind you, before you muster another grin, that every moment of this salacious history is yours too - in fact all of it through the centuries until your family stepped on board ship to sail to America! Take good care of yourself. Love from the UK
Just seen the wildfires on the news Mark. Looks terrifying and I hope they are nowhere near you and you are safe. So sorry for the people who in the area.
Hi Mark, yes the Trial of The Pyx takes place throughout the year at the Mint and the Jury ceremony involves the Chancellor of the Exchequer (or nominated representative), financial leaders, representatives of The Royal Mint and freemen of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, commonly known as The Goldsmiths’ Company. Coins of each denomination and batch are selected at random by the Jury and are minutely examined and tested for quality. The Jury wear the ceremonial robes used for the Trial dating back centuries. A selection of coins tested at The Trial are offered for sale by the Royal Mint as Trial of The Pyx coins. They bear a special Privy mark and have an additional security feature. Deep pockets are required to purchase these coins . Naturally 😂.
Hi Mark , little fun fact for you , sir Isaac Newton was master of the mint for a time at the Tower of london .hope you doing ok Mark we are aware of the horrific fires out in california area .
Hi Mark- never heard of this robbery but knew about Colonel Bloods theft of the crown jewels in the late 1600s - this bloke wasn't the sharpest tool in the box was he?! Not surprised the monks were involved to be honest! Fancy selling the loot in London! Must have had a death wish! Anyway love the history Guy and chap could listen to them all day: take care mate ,glad to see it's all quiet on the moggy front x
