Small fishing trip on a cold morning 【Micro Fishing】 A cup of coffee and Japanese fishing culture.
Micro fishing is a part of Japanese fishing culture that has been enjoyed for a long time. Until just a little over ten years ago, anglers would line up in small ponds and irrigation channels to fish for tanago in winter. However, in recent years, I no longer see such unique scenery, which makes me a little sad. Along with tanago fishing, crucian carp fishing is also popular. Although not as popular as fishing for large crucian carp during the spring spawning season, fishing for small crucian carp in winter is also very popular. One cold morning, a cup of coffee and a small fishing trip.

True TANAGO Fishing! 【micro fishing】 Japanese fishing to enjoy the seasons.

I think Tanago fishing is a good old culture that symbolizes Japan. You enjoy the seasons, scenery, and atmosphere, and use luxurious fishing equipment made by craftsmen to catch smaller fish. However, the fishing equipment is not used to compete with others for its luxury. Fishing is always done alone, quietly. I think the true nature of this fishing lies in enjoying the passing time, rather t...

    The only place where I have seen someone sharpen a tanago hook was on a NHK video of a guy using a microscope and jeweler’s file. How do you sharpen a tanago hook?

    • @TAKA_ojfc
      @TAKA_ojfc 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To sharpen Tanago hooks, we use a microscope called a "stereo microscope" rather than a regular microscope. First, we cut off the tip of a commercially available Tanago hook and create a new tip in its place. The hardness of the hooks varies depending on the type, so some are easy to sharpen and some are difficult to sharpen. The files we use are specially made diamond files. We use six different types of files depending on the area to be sharpened, and the thinnest one, which is used to sharpen the inside of the hook, is about one-fifth the thickness of a hair.

In some areas, "organic fluorine compounds" were detected at levels several dozen times higher than the legal limit. This substance is said to have a significant effect on the human body, and government agencies have issued announcements in some areas urging people not to drink the water. Again, I thank you for your videos. This one, especially, captures the quiet and solitude I seek in my fishing. I fish very small streams and catch smaller species native to the region of North America where I live. I began using a very small tenkara rod about a decade ago. Last year I acquired my first “Tanago” rod, but have yet to use it since my favorite streams have been damaged by two years of severe drought. When water levels return to normal, I will try my new “Tanago” gear. In the meantime, I appreciate the videos you share.

      I agree with your way of thinking. I don't think the "solitude" I experience while fishing is lonely. Because it is in this silence that we can feel the joy of living in nature. The drought that has lasted for two years is serious. I think it must be difficult for both fish and humans. Nature sometimes tests living things, but I'm sure it will give us blessings afterwards. Gamakatsu's "KIWAME TANAGO" is a very good hook. Many Japanese tanago anglers use it. However, if you are targeting smaller tanago, this hook is still a little too large. If you are using Tanago Gluten, we do not recommend "TANAGO GURUTEN KYOGIYOU". This is because the bait is designed to come off the hook easily in order to catch fish quickly. Also, because it contains fish attractants, it becomes difficult to control the pace at which you catch fish.

      I'm very happy to hear that you like tanago fishing. In Japan, there is a history of the water becoming very polluted during the period of rapid economic growth after the Second World War. During that time, there were many rivers that were no longer home to extinct fish and creatures. However, after several decades, many people have learned firsthand the beauty and importance of nature, and although it is still not enough, there are now almost no polluted water bodies. There will always come a time when humans will realize the importance of nature. Until then, I believe that those of us who enjoy the waterside have no choice but to continue picking up the trash that is thrown in front of us.

    Thank you for this nice video 😀👍 I live in the Netherlands and we have a similar kind of fishing here and there are even contests who can catch the most 😀.

      Welcome to my channel. Thank you. I was very surprised to learn that there is a similar fishing style in the Netherlands😃 There used to be contests in Japan to compete on the number of fish caught, but I feel that the current trend is to pursue how to enjoy fishing carefully rather than catching a lot of fish, as the better the fisherman is. Competing by catching smaller fish than other people is also a part of the Japanese culture of tanago fishing. However, I believe that this leisurely time is a waste if humans compete with each other😊.

    How is the water in the cube you are using to hold the fish so clear?

    • @TAKA_ojfc
      @TAKA_ojfc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for noticing a good point. Before I start fishing, I attach a simple filtration device to this cube to remove the cloudiness of the water. This filter is very easy to make. To explain it simply, take a plastic bottle that you have finished drinking from and place it upside down on the cube. This plastic bottle contains "activated charcoal," which is excellent for filtering, and the water that passes through is purified and falls into the cube. Once the water has collected, I simply put in a number of fish so that they do not get stressed.

    Very nice and relaxing video :-)! Well done! I am more of a big fish angler but got interested in Tanago fishing through my interest in Japanes culture. I would like to try this style of fishing at home but struggle to find the tackle used for this kind of fishing on ebay etc.. Do you have a few links or infos where I could order good tanago fishing equipment incl. the glas tanks? I guess there are ready made rigs, hooks etc. available? Thank you!

      @TAKA_ojfc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I'm glad you're interested in Japanese culture and tanago fishing. As you say, I'm sad that it's difficult to buy traditional Japanese tanago fishing equipment and rigs overseas. As far as I know, it's possible to buy Japanese products from overseas through a site called "buyee". I've never used it, so I don't know how reliable it is. There are many tanago fishing equipment and rigs for sale in Japan, so it would be nice if they could be easily purchased overseas. It's still a while away, but I'd like to open a shop on a site like eBay. I want people all over the world to know about Japan's interesting traditional fishing.

    Thank you for sharing another great video. Please explain the function of the beads on the line.

    • @TAKA_ojfc
      @TAKA_ojfc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your interest in Japanese fishing. Of course. There are several yellow beads attached to the bottom of the float. When a fish takes the bait in its mouth, the float does not necessarily sink downward. Sometimes it moves slowly sideways. In particular, bitterling and carp are fish that often eat quietly. In micro fishing, these beads are attached to know the slight movement and direction of the line in the water. That's why you can catch fish even though the float is not moving much in the video.

      Hello. A popular way to eat this fish is to deep fry it and then marinate it in vinegar with onions. In Japan, it is called "Nanbanzuke" and is very delicious. Of course, it is also a delicious fish to grill and eat.

    Love the "bead" trick I bet it would work well here in the US for crappie suspended in brush piles, you could use a lighter or smaller jig, but still have it penetrate quickly to the desired depth Even better with 1 of your smaller minnows tipped on the jig. 👍& Subscribed..😁

    Can bobber stoppers be used under the float as strike indicators when making my own rigs?

    • @TAKA_ojfc
      @TAKA_ojfc 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it is possible to use the bobber stopper as an indicator. However, the bobber stopper is a little big, so you may need to make it about half the size. Good luck to you in micro fishing.

      The current may be a little too fast for you, but if you have a river or creek, you may be able to find a quiet little channel where the float won't move. Give micro fishing a try!
