I've always been fascinated with this whole grafting process. I don't know how nature knows how to do that, but it's incredible. I love seeing that we only need to do so much (grafting) to support it, and it knows to take care of the rest. This is not to dismiss your part by the way, just pure fascination because it honestly feels like magic. In my head it's almost like taping an arm on watching them grow an extra limb 😅 Also, I had no idea apple trees took so long to bear fruit. Gardening is A LOT of work. But it must be super satisfying too, especially for plant nerds ;)

It is incredible how well these assortments always end up looking together, from color and shade to shape, texture and length of stems. It's almossssst like there is an artistic soul with a vision behind them ;)

Yes--dragging the hose around a lot, here too today . . . and trying to shade wilting lettuce and transplants . . . with propped-up cardboard and draped fabric . . . But what a HUGE happy abundance of flowers you gathered, in lovely shades of purple and pink! Wonderful share. Nature's process is not linear, and when I think about my own 'patterns of existence', they've been similar. My habits for example would swing back and forth between two extremes. Day to day it looks like my progress is chaotic, but over time, the lowest points are not as low, and the highest highs are swinging upwards too. Love this video! Thank you for the brilliant ideas. 🧡

Sorry to inform you of this, but your cover does absolutely nothing to protect your tree from frost. What you need is to cover it with some agro-fabric and it needs to go all the way down to the ground so it can trap the heat that comes from below. That will protect your tree by keeping it just a few degrees higher than the air temperature when a frost comes.

Jan Boyce is one of the good tasting avocados, but it is a disservice to call this avocado a connoisseur avocado. What is an avocado connoisseur anyway? Sounds like egotistical snobbish rubbish, and set up unreasonable high expectations that are doomed to disappoint. Taste is personal, anyone is capable of assessing whether they like a particular taste of avocado, or not. Personally I like Jan Boyce and have 2 trees in my garden, among over 20 varieties, but this variety would fail in so many ways as a mass market variety, probably would not even do well as a farmers market variety. This puzzle me, why would a self proclaimed plant maniac leave avocado budwoods not grafted for three months? On the positive note, your story on Al Boyce and Oscar Clarke, and how you acquire the budwoods is interesting.

It's very pretty !! I have one that I planted last year and it's now seven feet tall and all bushed out on the top. I staked it and let it turn into a tree...it has not bloomed yet but I think it will this year and soon because of all of the growth. Seeing yours made me smile 😊
