Beyond the adrenaline rush, this journey is a testament to the importance of life experience and self-improvement, grounding me in gratitude for the tranquility that awaits after the tumultuous storm.
SECRET BEACH CAMPING ADVENTURE | IS THIS A DREAM?
#beachcamping #hikingadventures #outdoorcooking
Embark on an unforgettable adventure as I set off on a wild beach hike across the pristine and untouched Australian coastline. The landscape is stunning-completely remote, with no one else in sight. As I traverse the soft sands, I have a surprise encounter with a redneck wallaby that leaves me in awe. However, things take an unexpected turn when I find myself lost in the dense Australian bush, with nothing but the looming possibility of encountering a snake! The tension builds as I navigate my way through the thick underbrush, battling the fear of what could be lurking ahead.
After a bit of bush-bashing, I finally emerge from the wilderness and stumble upon a spectacular beach-an absolute gem of a discovery. With the sun starting to set, I set up my bivvy bag for a night of wild camping right on the sand. There’s something incredibly peaceful about being so close to nature, the waves crashing in the distance, and the feeling of having the entire beach to myself.
The highlight of this trip, though, is the mouthwatering lamb stew I slow-cooked over the coals. Using simple ingredients and allowing it to simmer for a full three hours, this stew was the perfect campfire feast-rich, hearty, and absolutely delicious. I take you through the process of preparing this outdoor meal, showing just how rewarding it is to cook with the elements. If you love outdoor cooking or need inspiration for your next campfire meal, you won’t want to miss this part!
As night falls and the stars come out, I finally hit the hay, as they say, and settle into my bivvy for some much-needed rest. But that’s not the end of the story-during the night, I have a crazy and vivid dream that carries a distinctly angry tone. It feels unsettling, but when I wake up, I’m greeted by one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen. The dream fades away, and I’m left with nothing but the calm and beauty of the new day.
In the morning, I pack up my camp and start to make my way back. This time, I manage to find a new path home-a quicker route, but with an unexpected twist! I get drenched by a rogue wave that crashes over me as I try to navigate my way along the shoreline. It’s all part of the adventure, and despite being soaking wet, I can’t help but laugh at how wild this journey turned out to be.
This video is a perfect mix of wild camping, hiking through untouched landscapes, and delicious outdoor cooking. Join me for the highs and the challenges of this adventure, from getting lost in the bush to cooking a spectacular lamb stew on the coals, and waking up to one of the most breathtaking sunrises you’ll ever see.

Today I used my Bunnings umbrella (it was a little rainy in Sydney this morning) to make some noise as I went, but next time, I'm gonna chant "top of the food chain... top of the food chain" Brilliant!
@@raeree028 No worries Raelene! Glad I gave you new snake bite prevention protocol! Verbalise your hierarchy in the food chain. Yes, was a bit wet and wild was in Port Stephens. @@outofbounds2022 cheers , looool. Yes I keep forgetting a cup. Usually I drink it out the pot, but the stove container thingy made a great espresso shot glass. Last time I gave up because my van was parked closeby, so this time made sure it was parked far away, making it hard to give up!
@rangatrips I know the temptation of having the car close by. I like to exclude excapes aswell. What type of tarp do you have?

@@Garlicky-831 Hey Garlick! Great stuff mate! It's a good purchase, but if you want to ride beachbreaks that break in different directions , it would be best to ride without the handplane. Fantastic Video 🤙
Cheers Erik! Thanks for the positive vibes!
I was a bodyboarder for decades until I got rid of the board and really started bodysurfing in heavy conditions. It is very physical, more than surfing, because you can never rest. So you must develop techniques to stay afloat with minimum effort, switching between legs and arms when you are on the lineup. Also, you are slower on the waves, and you will endure wipeouts more often, pretty much systematically. You got to pick your waves carefully and sometimes let a bomb pass to catch your breath. But the counterparts are awesome.
I agree 100% with the wipeouts, but I'm still trying to figure out what is the most physically demanding. I used to only handle 2 - 2.5 hrs of bodyboarding before I cramped out. Now bodysurfing I can do 4 - 4.5 hrs before cramps set in. Standup Surfing my arms get pumped quickly, but I hardly ever surf. During bodysurf session, I'm definitely using minimal effort during downtime between waves, and just focus on short burst paddling as hard as possible to get speed into the wave. You definitely don't use alot of energy paddling out, but if there is a strong current that drains you to try and stay in position. So probably depends on the conditions really.
@@rangatrips I live in South West of France, we have strong currents and beach breaks and on big days it is definitely dangerous without a board to rely on. I never get cramps and I workout three times a week so it's not about muscular fatigue, more about cardio and stress management. I can stay 3/4h too on a regular day but when it's big (over 3/4m) I get out as soon as I get a big scare. I mean getting ragdolled for 10 seconds under water and having trouble to find the surface (harder without a board). On some spots around here you really have to swim hard just to stay at the same place because of current.
@@s.z.9517 awesome part of the world mate, I was there about 20 years ago at Hossegor // Seignosse. My favourite spot in Australia is kind of similar, it has 3 - 4 peaks with strong current. But I just start at one end , and once I get ripped to the other end, I just walk up the beach and start again. Anyway stay strong bro and keep riding free!
@@rangatrips Yes I have my own ticks as well, using the channels between peaks to reach the lineup with favorable currents. But we also have dangerous currents called "baïnes" and when you're stuck in them, it's hard to stay calm ! Sometimes it even sucks you down to the bottom ! Anyways, I'll never go back to bodyboarding, I've become quite good at bodysurfing and the feeling is unmatched. Also on big days, surfers tend to show you respect for your engagement and this can help with localism, very strong (in Hossegor for example).
@@s.z.9517 the feeling is definitely much better, feels like you are flying even paddling through the waves its like a flying. Also less stress, because the other surfers don't know what "category" to put you in!
love this video
Cheers Fin, glad you enjoyed my video! Go huge mate!
I've started taking bodyboarding seriously this year after losing my job and it has had a tremendous impact on my mental health. I will deffs go out without my boog (within safe parameters) on my next session and I trust it'll be just as fun😁. Thanks for this inspiration man🙏👌.
Sorry to hear about your troubles mate, life does throw alot of crap at us, but its unavoidable. Its hard to keep pushing and the ocean is a great distraction by allowing you to get away from "normal reality" and experience things that really matter. Eventually things on land will correct themselves over time and in their own time. A good way to get confidence to bodysurf is to enter local ocean swim events. They have 1km // 2.5 km options. You can then test your abilitities whilst being surrounded by lifeguards for small entry fee. All the best mate, you'll be allright!
Why in gods name would you ever want to do this to yourself, you look like a donut and you don‘t see anything because you get water sprayed into your eyes the whole time so you can‘t even appreciate the view on the wave.. Idk this isn‘t for me I guess I‘d rather shoot myself in the foot than torturing myself bodysurfing in waves that I could be riding on a surfboard.
Great video

Sounds like a good tune mate!
very amusing. If you camped at the base of the cliff or twenty meters back from the edge in the trees you would have been out of the wind but in danger of branch drop. If I'm cliff camping I'll use a bivi bag and not bother with a tent or tarp. At least the rock you were next to stopped you being blown off the rock. ya got to try these things every now and then. many a climber has drunk Tuna coffee🤠🍵
Cheers mate! Yep I'm also a big fan of the bivvy bag , from my thru hiking background. After a long day of hiking I can't be bothered setting up a tarp. Climbing, obviously they are restricted by whatever the cliff provides, so bivvy bag wins almost every time. Climbers must have a good laugh at all the survivalist youtubers, cos climbers understand what you really need to get the job done. I was going to camp at the base of the cliff, but chose this spot purely for the sweeping view and had no idea that a storm was coming through. I'm sure I'll be havin some tuna can coffee again soon enough! Cheers mate!
