    Get ready to chuckle, cringe, and cry tears of laughter as I recount the epic tale of my hammock camping escapade gone hilariously wrong in the stunning landscapes of Siargao Island, Philippines.
    Picture this: after what felt like an eternity of dodging suspicious locals and searching for the ultimate stealth camping spot, I finally found it! But let me tell you, setting up that hammock was like trying to fold a fitted sheet - impossible and utterly frustrating. The sweat was pouring down faster than a waterfall, and I swear I left a trail of sweat droplets big enough to rival Hansel and Gretel's breadcrumbs.
    As night fell, the scene was straight out of a postcard. The moon shone bright, illuminating the landscape like a Hollywood set designer went wild with the ambiance. I nestled into my hammock feeling like the king of my own little jungle kingdom. Oh, how wrong I was...
    Suddenly, out of nowhere, the heavens decided to throw a temper tantrum, unleashing a torrential downpour that would make Noah's flood look like a garden sprinkler. And guess what? My supposedly waterproof tarp turned out to be about as effective as a paper umbrella in a hurricane. So there I was, floating in my hammock like a soggy burrito in a soup bowl.
    With my pride soaked along with everything else, I made a strategic retreat to the nearest dry spot - a cozy little log that I affectionately named "Soggy Bottoms." I spent the next few hours contemplating life, the universe, and how on earth I managed to get myself into this mess.
    But hey, every storm eventually passes, and as dawn broke, I was treated to a sunrise so spectacular it almost made the whole ordeal worth it. Almost. With the sun finally shining and my dignity somewhat salvaged, it was time to bid adieu to Siargao Island and its unpredictable weather patterns.

      Cheers brother! Welcome to the ranga show lol. I actually was stuck there so had no choice but to stick it out. Luckily the rain stopped. After this event I always carry a raincoat, even if its bright sunshine.

    Great location but that weather over there sucks. I really don't like rain camping. I'm too old for that sh*t. 😋

      Baie Dankie Meneer Beun! I did 5 camps, luckily only this one rained, my tarp was totally crap. You can never be too old for anything mate! ..... except camping in a rain squall! Definitely next will be ready by friday.

    man thats some crazy rain! not many setups would keep you 100% dry when force of nature like that pushes through. What a beautiful place though! great video

      Cheers Sam! But definitely I'm getting a new one, the tarp I used in all the upcoming Philly vids is like a kiddy play around tarp. Phillipines surprised me, its pretty awesome. Food is not as good as Thailand or Vietnam, but I had a gas stove at the accomodation and just cooked my own meals mostly. Thanks for the support mate!

    Absolutely crazy. No one can say on your death bed that you didn’t live an adventure filled life. Awesome experience. Good stuff! Any weird wild life?

      I saw only 1 reasonably sized Goanna. Usually I see many at my ranga spots, but Philippines there are a lot more people living rough and hunting animals. They even go out spearfishing at night! Saw 2 dead snakes on the road, so probably plenty snakes. They have Jellyfish that don't sting !

    That's beautiful, the way the waves crashes so far inland ❤❤❤ well done surviving that 👍 looks wet and uncomfortable, and your way back being cut off and all... Tho it's good, without it maybe would have quit and went back 😂😂

      Cheers guys! Thank you for your comment. I was lucky that it only rained for about 1.5hrs, otherwise it would be difficult/ intense. After this night, now I always back my trenchcoast rainjacket for SE Asia camps! Terimah kasi banyaaaaak

      @@kayfunkids Hahaa, Big crew camping with MC and fireworks lol. For me I always have to be stealthy and hopefully no locals see me setting up camp, I cannot let loose with Fireworks thats for sure! Looks like you have fun though!

    We got the same cheap tarp and hammock from eBay to mate the hammock is good it does the job just fine but that tarp let’s rain through all night 😂 we found out the hard way you get better as you go you can make handy little contraptions to make it easier to set up also you definitely need a new tarp 😂 better quality loved the video but good to see you back overseas

      Loool, bloody cheapskates unite! It was the cheapest camo combo available on ebay. But I dont like buying top notch gear until I know that I need it. But I agree that tarp should not be listed on ebay as a camping tarp.... it only has 4 bloody tie off points. Well ranga learning the hard way as usuall. Thanks for the support guys! Back in Oz will start doing some surf camps again soon. Yew!

    You are an honest man... you are bad at this hammock camping lark. It is a bit of a dark art, which is why I now use a Helsdon Hammock tent... lay flat and easiest set up ever.       @@rangatrips As someone who married a Filipina and lived there for several years... ever wondered what it's like to take two pigs to market in a sedan and have them burst into the back seat from the boot? While driving? Ever since that time my inlaws always hire a dong to do the transporting. We live, we learn. Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

      Loooool! Only in the Philippines would that Pig event happen. Must have been bloody scary mate! I was impressed by the country and the people. Was surprised that the water is so clear. But I think living in those busy places like Manilla or Cebu would not be my cup of tea. I was staying in a small village on Siargao which was dead quiet at night.

      @@rangatrips I lived in Calape, northern Cebu, about as quiet as it gets. Lots of diving on Malapascua, motorbike riding around Medellin and teaching Arnis to the locals. Great times.

      @@fatmanfaffing4116 I'm definitely going back soon, just going to investigate some other islands, saw one that had volcanoes called Camiguin Island. I did 2 nights in Cebu City, it was pretty bad, but I'm sure you had a good spot there in the North.
