Lowering the Cummins Diesel in my Ultra 4 Car and Modifying the Timing Case Part 2
มุมมอง 2694 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’m lowering the Cummins Diesel in my ultra 4 car to lower my center of gravity. I had to make a custom oil pan and change to a belt driven power steering pump so that I could cut out the timing case to clear my upper link arm. Those projects are covered in previous videos. I also had to redo all of the motor and transmission mounts and shorten the intermediate drive shaft in this video. I’m sp...

Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Kids Motorcycle Armor
👍👍👍👊🤘
Much love man planning a blower for my little 3 pot 😂
Nice! Good luck man. 👍
👍👍👍...I forget what axle that is?. ..I think you've mentioned it before
It's got the gm 14 bolt front and rear with dana 60 kingpins. The spindles and hubs are dana 60s front and back. That way I'm using the same parts all of the way around. Also, using d60 spindles in the rear means I can replace the spindle easily if it get damaged, and the rear axles are full float instead of semi float.
@@irionmotorsports 👍👍ten four sounds like a durable set up ..glad it works good for you 👍👍👊
On the oil ... A filter remote fitting an plenty of hd hose n fittings ... Large oil cooler ... Dual Remote mount oil filters ... Large full qiart oil filters (the big mothers) ... Oil is the life blood of an engine keep it cool an have lots of it !!! Allows for smaller oil pan ...
👍👍👍seen someone use this process to clean up a block and head...might have to try it on a cast iron pan have got lying around... thanks for another video 👍👍👊
I didn't think of that. It would be a great way to get your engine cleaned up cheap. I usually send it to a machine shop and get it surfaced and pressure checked if I have it to that point though.
@@irionmotorsports 👍👍...it was a engine parts that were lying around for year's and all rusty
Awesome build!! Makes me want to build one myself.
Thanks man!
Do you sell these I need one for my pulling truck
Sorry man, I don't have time to make them. You should be able to have any local machine shop make them for you. Tell them to get in touch if they have any questions.
Any advice on which leadnav package is worth the money? The base software seems like everything we'd need but I'm curious if you've found the higher tier packages useful? Thanks again for the great video
I pay for the mid tier package, because I like to download offline maps for the area that I'm racing. I could work around it by hotspotting before the race and loading the map, but if something goes wrong I'm going to lose my map. I don't even need a gps for the races i'm doing now. I mostly use it so my co-driver an I are practiced up in case we ever get out to KOH. I think it's worth having if you're racing or off-roading in places that don't have cellular. There are plenty of other gps apps that you can use that have free, or cheaper off road maps, but I haven't found one that works with my Dual XGPS160 satellite receiver, and the ipad doesn't refresh fast enough for racing. You could always try it for a year and see how much you use it.
@irionmotorsports Thanks again man! That is the exact info we were looking for. We owe you one bud!
👍👍👍👍..thank you for the overview of your solar set-up..im gonna consider something like that in the future around here... thank you for the video(s)..👍👍👊
Thanks man! Anker has some really good sales on their solix units. If you're getting one from them wait for a good deal.
Thank you for this video. My dad and I have been torn between lowrance, garmin, and leadnav. Garmin is nice but pricey, lowrance has been around, but a fish finder really didn't seem like the best set up, they are also pricey for the new models. This video helped a lot. Thanks again man. Hopefully we'll see you in baja sometime
Thanks man! Glad it was helpful.
Can I pay you to do the same swap on my 08 3500 6.7 L turbo diesel Cummins?❤❤
Sorry man, I can't. I just do fabrication for fun. I'm busy with my full time job 50-60hrs a week, plus dealing with kids and keeping my racecar running. If you get into it and have any questions, I'm happy to help.
Would it be possible to customize a motorcycle oil pan?👀
Probably, depends on the motor and what you're looking to accomplish.
Do they make for tacoma long bed?
I think it's only for the 5' bed. If you want more info, you should send them an email. It's possible they may be coming out with one in the future.
Great video, thanks for posting!
Sure thing! Thanks
Looks good sir 🤘
Thanks 👍
I just opened my Integra Goggles box, & im charging my Integra Goggles Motion 2 Combo right now, to fly with My AIR 3 & Mini 4 Pro.
Nice, have fun!
i build these roadrangers for a living this video is badass
Thanks, man!
Great work
How did you shift the hot and low in the 10th speed without air? I'm very interested in doing this to my 1999 254 super duty. I am tired of the triton five point four I put 2 Cright motors in that truck since nineteen ninety nine twenty three years three motors not good
Did you watch the whole video? I'm pretty sure I showed the air system install towards the end of the video.
Hey what cutting tips do you use for your plasma?? Does it matter?
I just use the cnc tip with the recommended consumables. It should have the part numbers on top of the machine and in the manual.
I cannot believe how many NV5600's you blew up ! I know you're putting out a bit more HP than stock, but I tow heavy shit around every day in hilly VT and got 200,000 out of my stock Cummins 3500 without ever having a problem with the transmission. I can't believe the NP 205 never gave you trouble with the extra HP if the NV5600 couldn't handle it.
Yeah, it was the combination of the extra hp and weight. I was regularly exceeding 25k, sometimes as high as 30k. You could do that with a stock truck without issues, but when you add 200-300 hp it doesn't hold up. The np 205 is the toughest transfer case that ever came stock in a vehicle. I run one in my race car too, and I've never had a single issue with them.
Great work on lowering everything and good call. What shafts are you running up front? 35 spline ?
Yeah, they're the yukon chromoly 35 spline
Great video I was about to get an avata 2 but think this will help me get into fpv with my mini 3 pro
Thanks! I have the Avata 2 now with the new goggles and RC. They have really good sales on the combo. It's a really nice setup if you can swing it. The only downsides of the avata 2 is the single axis stabilization and short battery life.
I like how little pumpkin kept following you everywhere.
Haha, I'd forgotten about that. I had to go watch the video again.
I’m sure by now you have already made your oil pan, but my first thought was that you should do a dry sump oiling system.
That's something that I considered, but there's not much of an advantage in this case and lots of downside. This motor puts out more hp than I need, so I don't need the little bit that I would gain from a dry sump. The weight difference would be negligible. The biggest downside is adding a number of high probability failure points to my car. I would have to a scavenge pump with a belt drive to the bottom of my motor where mud and rocks could get in. If that belt gets destroyed I'm done. There's also a whole bunch more hoses and fittings that can fail. The whole point of using a Cummins in the first place is the simplicity and durability. Also, I'm a cheap SOB.
Nice
Great review! there are so much options right now, its good to have a good video
Thanks!
What rails did you find that fit? I just ordered my topper
I just found some roof racks laying outside my shop one day. They had been sitting there for nearly a year, so I made up some adapters to make them fit the cap. I think OVS is supposed to be coming out with roof racks for these caps.
Great job once again. Properly done, not thrown together like so many other channels
Thanks man, just finished my first race since this project, and had no issues. 👍
@@irionmotorsports Wonderful to know. Thanks for the update
Youve got alot of tool's to make what you want.. didn't realize that... excellent fabricator 👍... Do you stay busy with hired work .. or are you still Trucking?
Actually, I do specialty hardwoods. I do all of the fabrication and equipment maintenance in house, so I've been building and expanding the shop for the last 20 years. Most of the equipment I picked up cheap at auction and fixed up. Never had anyone to teach me how to use them. I just picked it up one project at a time. Watched a bunch of youtube videos.
👍👍 you're a pretty skilled fabricator...wish i had a lathe around to modify part's if need be...my end results probably wouldn't turn out as nice as yours do,but anyway..great job 👍👍👊
Thanks 👍
👍👊
Now this is a beast 💪🏾👑💨
Thanks 😁
How thick was the plate of aluminum on the front of the Eaton for the nv4500 bellhousing adapter
Well man, you got lucky. It turns out I still have the slug that I cut out of the center of that plate sitting on my lathe. It is 1.25" thick.
@@irionmotorsports well how about that? I’ve been wanting to do this swap on my 03 commonrail but didn’t wanna put a sae2 bell housing and hack up a bunch of my floor a little bit I can deal with though and how much did you have to shorten your input shaft? If you remember maybe it’s in the video and I didn’t hear it?
I didn't shorten the input shaft at all. I calculated that the 1.25" plate would make it so I wouldn't have to modify to input shaft.
@@irionmotorsports boy that sure is good to know I thought you had shortened it I have looked at so many threads on it it’s been a catastrophe on the hydraulic part do you have the part numbers for the concentric throw out bearing inside the bellhousing?
Yeah it's a0022506615. It's from a mercedes atego. There's a bleeder adapter and a line adapter that they don't usually come with it. If you can find a parts diagram for the atego, it will show you what you need.
Nice review! I’m so thankful you did show me 25 minutes of riding your OneWheel and then just comment at the end saying something like , “Yeah, this tire rips!” 😂 This was my type of review. You shared info, experience, comparisons, and got the new tire on and gave us a little heads up on how the new tire feels. I appreciate that.
Thanks man! It drives me nuts when I watch a tire review and it's just some guy riding it around for 20 min. Appreciate the feedback.
@@irionmotorsports hey man have you ever messed around with making a GTR? I’m curious what the XR hub and tire would feel like on a GT. I might have an option for that before i can save up the money for a 5” hub.
No, the gts is much better suited to the n52 magnets. If you put an XR hub on it you would lose a lot of torque. I'm a heavy rider an often carry heavy items and kids on my onewheel, so the torque is the most important thing for me. I don't have a gt, but you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference in torque. I just don't know if it would be worth it. You're only gaining 1/2" in diameter which is 1/4" of sidewall. If you try it out, let me know how you like it.
I’m that Dad who’s just ordered the KTM model and then listens to this bloke saying he wouldn’t even pay for a new standard stacyc 🤣🤣🤣 it’s fine, I’m only 850 out of pocket lol
My kid has a 16edrive now that he's put well over 800 miles on it. Haven't had any issues other than a broken chain.
Very interesting, well explained and great Fabrication
Thanks. I tried to spend a little more time explaining things in this video.
👍👍👍.. wish I had your fab resources and skills...good job man.. looks good👍👊
Thanks man!
👍
Confusing was gonna get a new tire now. im thinking of just getting a new oneqheel
What do you have, and what are you thinking about getting?
4.5.24
Thanks for the video
No problem!
Haven't seen many real-life reviews of this product. (mostly from the brand/creator) Even though it was only a quick video and the owner said he just got it and hasn't really tested it out yet, thank you for showing it to us!
My parents took it to florida last week. No issues so far. Had a lot of rain and no leaks.
What kind of roof rack do you have on it?
I had some roof racks that someone left outside my shop. I just ripped the feet off of them and made some aluminum brackets. I think OVS is coming out with some roof racks for the cap. I also bought a set of the cheap amazon roof racks for the truck.
Watched video a million times trying to catch how you remove the shock from the springs. Are you just removing the top cap and sliding them out the top??
No, there is a collar on the bottom (rod) end. The collar slides up and there is a snap ring under it. Once you remove the snap ring, the collar and springs will slide off.
Thanks man. I finally got it off with lots of pb blaster. Its so rusted Im going to have to ship them in this time@@irionmotorsports
I had tfl 655. Went to vega w6 due to grip issues. W6 heads and tails grippier especially in the mud. But spring is here and going back to tfl 6.5!!!
Are you sure? The 655 just came out around two weeks ago. I ordered it the day it dropped and made this video the day it arrived. Maybe you had the 555? I agree on the grip. I messaged tfl the other day and they said they will be coming out with a 5" pioneer soon. I'm hoping I can run that year round instead of the vega.
I have the Vega and 555 the only issue I have with the Vega is it's smaller circumference. At 18 my board thought I was at 20 and hitting haptic buzz
Just curious what did you do in terms of a clutch brake?
There was no way to put a clutch brake in since I used the dodge clutch which is a push style. I just dealt with it. It's not hard to get used to. I would rarely stop at lights. Just put it in first and let it creep. It also didn't take quite as long to slow down as a big truck. Probably to smaller lighter clutch disks helped.
Thank you so much for the video. I bought a Hiboy for my son with Amazon credit card points and I can say that it’s a nice, cheap bike. Still looking for a Stacyc but we also have a razor mx125. For the price of a Stacyc, we might just try to go from the hiboy to the mx125 unless we can find a decent deal on a Stacyc. From one father to another, I appreciate your time to make this video.
Thanks man! My son is riding the 16e now. He rides it every day. Sometimes we'll go for 12+ miles in one ride. They hold up really well and there's lots of parts available. Sometimes you can find cheap ones on ebay that need a little repair. There's good deals to be found on facebook marketplace too. I picked mine up cheap enough that I can probably sell them in a few years and get most of my money back.
Please update your email in your bio, I will contact you!
Ok, I've updated it.
Have you ever tried electric skateboards before?
No, I haven't. They look fun, but most of the riding I do is offroad. A lot of the trails are really rough.
