    Really glad to see it I’ve been contemplating one for awhile I love the idea of a trace function

    As I watched you holding the torch cable to relieve the weight, I started picturing adding a 'skyhook' to do that job. Maybe something like a 1/4" rod extending vertically from behind the ArcDroid and curving high over the table [and you] to the point above the cable that your hand currently is. A hook bent at this end holds a vertical length of stiff wire with a loop at top and a hook at the bottom that cradles the cable.
    The spring tension of the curve is employed to provide the required lift. If the 1/4" rod is dropped into a 6" length of vertical tube which is base welded to a flat square, then that can just be temporarily G-clamped when and where you want it. Plus the rod can then pivot through an arc to stay relevant to the torch's position or to be swung out of the way at will. Grind a 'ball end' at the base of the rod and add a drop of oil to ease movement. The rod may need to be quite tall or ? mark shaped to be 'wippy' enough for the torch to move from the front of the cutting envelope to the rear without compromising the torch movement. Might take a bundle of experimentation but there's the idea if it makes sense to you...

      You could definitely build something to hold the cable, or just get a machine torch. I like to be right there anyways in case something goes wrong. It's not like I'm knocking out hundreds of parts.

    I wanted one for simplicity of the tracing but after seeing this I'll just keep designing and using my 4x4 cnc plasma

      Yeah, I don't use the trace function very much. It's handy to have, but not the reason I bought it.

    How did it do with those cut outs doing it with the trace feature? Since those aren’t just straight line shots from point to point?
    I’m interested in one of these but the trace features is the biggest reason. I was thinking it’d be more like, a just follow the edges with a pen type deal. Basically like a dry run but your moving it along the path of the run first time.
    How does it do with hole cut outs inside a piece for the trace feature?

      It works great. If you want a straight line you can just go point to point. If you want a curved line, you can hold the button down and trace the edge. If you want a hole, you can select a center point and radius or trace to hole. I prefer to use point to point, and center point/radius, or doing a cad drawing because it's cleaner and more accurate.

    I am working on building a table for a future arcdroid purchase. I have seen conflicting dimension information for the 1/4 baseplate it's mounted on. I've seen 10inches deep but given a 15.75in wide as well as 20in wide and don't k iwnwhat is accurate.
    Could I impose on you to measure the length and width of that 1/4 plate on your arcdroid? Thank you very much in advance.

    Hey what cutting tips do you use for your plasma?? Does it matter?

      I just use the cnc tip with the recommended consumables. It should have the part numbers on top of the machine and in the manual.

    What dimension did you make that stand?

    • @irionmotorsports
      @irionmotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's 2ft x 3ft to the outside of the 2" tubing.

    What is the thickest metal you can cut through?

    • @irionmotorsports
      @irionmotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Powermax85 is rated for 3/4” pierce, 1-1/4” sever with cnc, and 1-1/2 sever with hand torch. It would be complicated to do anything thicker than 3/4”, but you could do it with an edge start.

    Did you make the cheat sheet yourself? Do you mind sharing it

      @irionmotorsports  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, it's straight out of the powermax manual. If you have a powermax 65 or 85 you can us this manual. The cut charts start on 3-24. www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjexcvqlP6DAxXPrYkEHYhmBT0QFnoECA4QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hypertherm.com%2FDownload%3FfileId%3DHYP115403%26zip%3DFalse&usg=AOvVaw3Kh6I776vSTo4c6_0Rj2Bd&opi=89978449

      Here's another link with just the cut charts. If you don't have a powermax 65/85, you might need different settings, but these might work fine for other machines. www.plasma-automation.com/partsdatabase/CuttingCharts/powermax_65-85.pdf
